There is no verified, game-specific “best preset” or FPS target for the current PC version of Blue Protocol: Star Resonance. The dependable starting point is to check your hardware against the official storefront requirements, then make one graphics-menu change at a time and keep only changes that improve frame pacing on your own system.
What can—and cannot—be established about PC performance
The official PC listings establish supported hardware tiers, not a tested configuration. Neither listing specifies a target resolution, graphics preset, frame rate, test scene, or test conditions. Therefore, a claim such as “these settings deliver 1080p at 60 FPS” would go beyond the available evidence.

The practical approach is an evidence-based tuning loop: confirm that the computer is within the published baseline, record how the game behaves now, change one control, repeat the same activity, and retain the change only when it produces a clear improvement without an unacceptable visual cost.

Official PC requirements
Steam and Epic publish the same CPU, GPU, memory, operating-system, and DirectX tiers. Their storage figures differ, so use the listing for the platform on which you are installing.
| Component | Minimum listed tier | Recommended listed tier | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit | Steam listing; Epic lists the same tier. |
| DirectX | DirectX 11 | DirectX 11 | Epic Games Store listing and Steam list the same requirement. |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM | The storefront pages list 16 GB; they do not state a benchmark or frame-rate target. |
| Processor | Intel Core i7-8700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Intel Core i7-11700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | Published tiers, not a promise of performance at a particular resolution. |
| Graphics card | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT | Published tiers, not a measured FPS result. |
| Installation space | 35 GB available storage | 35 GB available storage | Steam displays 35 GB. Epic’s page displays “16 GB or better,” which conflicts with Steam; check the current platform listing before installing. |
Meeting minimum requirements means your system reaches the publisher’s stated baseline. It does not establish that every area, effect combination, or background workload will feel smooth. The recommended tier is a stronger starting point, but it also is not tied to a stated resolution or FPS number.
Check your hardware before changing graphics
Compare the processor and graphics card separately
A computer can be above the minimum in one component and below it in another. Compare the exact CPU and GPU models in Windows (Settings → System → About, and Task Manager → Performance) with the table above. For a graphics-limited system, lowering rendering work can help; for a processor-limited system, image-quality reductions may have little effect.

Confirm memory and operating system
Verify that Windows is 64-bit and that the machine has at least 16 GB of RAM available to the game. If memory is heavily occupied by browsers, recording tools, or other applications, close unnecessary processes before judging a settings change. That test does not turn a below-spec system into a supported one; it simply removes an avoidable variable.
Leave enough storage headroom
Use the platform’s current space figure rather than assuming the two storefront pages are synchronized. Keep additional free space for downloads, updates, and the operating system. The published pages do not define how much extra space an update may require.
A controlled method for finding a smoother configuration
Because no authoritative preset is available, use a repeatable procedure instead of changing many options at once.

- Record a baseline. Note your display resolution, window mode, visible graphics options, and how performance feels in the same activity. If the game or an overlay exposes an FPS or frame-time readout, record it; if not, use a repeatable camera movement or route and describe the hitching you observe.
- Use a consistent test. Revisit the same area, combat situation, or traversal route after every change. A crowded scene and an empty scene can produce very different results, so do not compare unrelated locations.
- Change one control or one related group. Apply the change, allow the scene to settle, and run the same test again. Changing resolution, shadows, textures, and effects simultaneously prevents you from knowing which adjustment mattered.
- Keep a change only when it helps. Look for steadier frame delivery, fewer visible hitches, or a more responsive camera—not merely a brief peak in an overlay. If the visual loss is larger than the benefit, restore the previous value.
- Retest after loading a different type of scene. A setting that helps an outdoor view may not help a crowded encounter. Keep notes for at least one demanding situation and one ordinary situation.
- Save a known-good profile. Write down the values that work so you can restore them after a driver update, game update, or troubleshooting experiment.
This process produces a configuration tailored to your hardware without presenting an unverified game-wide guarantee.

What to test in the graphics menu
The exact labels and available controls can change between builds. Use the following order only for options that your current menu actually exposes.
| Control group | When to test it | Trade-off to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution or render scale | Start here when the GPU is near full utilization or the image rate is consistently low. | Lower values improve rendering workload but make the image softer. Check text and distant detail after each step. |
| Shadow, lighting, and ambient effects | Test when frame rate falls in scenes with many lights, characters, or environmental details. | Lower settings can reduce depth and contact detail. Compare the same busy scene before and after. |
| Reflections, volumetric effects, and post-processing | Test if the menu offers them and heavy scenes show intermittent drops rather than a constant limit. | Reducing them may improve frame pacing while changing atmosphere, glare, or water and surface detail. |
| View distance, foliage, or effects density | Test when traversal or large outdoor views cause the largest dips. | Lower values can make objects or effects appear later and may be more distracting than a small frame-rate gain. |
| Texture quality | Test when the GPU has limited video memory or when hitching appears as new areas load. | Lower textures reduce memory pressure but make surfaces less detailed. They may not raise average FPS on a system that is compute-limited. |
| V-sync or frame-rate limit | If the menu provides either option, compare behavior with your display and the game’s own frame pacing. | A cap can reduce swings and heat, but an unsuitable cap can add latency or make motion feel less fluid. Do not assume a specific cap is universally correct. |
These are troubleshooting categories, not claims that every control exists in Star Resonance. If a setting is absent, skip it and continue with the controls that are present.

Diagnose the symptom before lowering quality
Consistently low frame rate
If performance is low everywhere and GPU usage is high, test resolution or render scale first, if available, then the heavier lighting, shadow, and effects controls. If the GPU is not busy while one CPU core is saturated, image-quality reductions may not solve the limit; close background workloads and compare the result again. A processor below the minimum listed tier is outside the published baseline.
Short hitches or uneven frame delivery
Brief pauses are different from a permanently low frame rate. Test texture, streaming-related, or effects controls only when the menu provides them, and repeat the same route several times. Also check for downloads, recording, antivirus scans, thermal throttling, or other programs competing for CPU, storage, or memory. If the hitch remains unchanged after graphics tests, the cause may not be a visual-quality setting.

Compare window mode and any synchronization or frame-limit controls that the game exposes. Change one at a time and use the same camera movement to judge responsiveness. A smoother-looking image is not automatically a more responsive one, so keep the setting that balances both.

Crashes, driver resets, or corrupted visuals
Return to the last known-good values, restart the game, and test again before making further changes. Confirm that the machine still meets the operating-system, DirectX, memory, CPU, and GPU requirements. If the problem occurs at every setting, treat it as a stability or software issue rather than evidence that a lower preset is “best.”
What feels like lag but is not rendering
Network delay can make characters or actions respond late even when frames are being rendered normally. If the image remains smooth but actions arrive late or other players snap position, investigate the connection separately from graphics settings. Lowering shadows or textures cannot correct an internet-path problem.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to interpret your hardware tier
| Your position relative to the listing | What the evidence supports | Practical decision |
|---|---|---|
| Below the minimum CPU or GPU tier | The system is below the publisher’s stated baseline. | Try the lowest options the menu offers, but do not treat a smooth result as guaranteed. An upgrade may be necessary; no particular current model is established by these listings. |
| At or near the minimum tier | The game is within the published baseline, but no resolution or FPS outcome is specified. | Prioritize resolution or render scale and the most demanding effects, testing each change on your own system. |
| Between minimum and recommended | There is more headroom than the minimum listing, but the storefronts provide no measured performance curve. | Start with moderate values, then tune the controls that affect your most demanding scenes. |
| At or above the recommended tier | The system matches the stronger reference tier, not a guaranteed target. | Begin with the game’s current defaults, measure repeatably, and change settings only when a real problem appears. |
If only the graphics card is below the minimum, a card that meets the recommended tier is the relevant reference for an upgrade discussion. The listing does not prove that any particular retail card, resolution, or frame rate will deliver smooth play.

Steam’s official support listing states 35 GB of available storage. The Epic Games Store page displays “16 GB or better.” Because those figures conflict and neither page explains the discrepancy, do not silently average or reinterpret them. Check the current requirement shown by your installation platform immediately before downloading, and leave practical room for updates.
Quick Recap
Claims to avoid when tuning
- Do not describe the recommended CPU or GPU as a 1080p/60-FPS guarantee; no test resolution or frame-rate target is published.
- Do not call a particular preset “the best” for every PC. Performance depends on the exact processor, graphics card, memory pressure, display, drivers, background load, and scene.
- Do not promise that DLSS, FSR, XeSS, frame generation, or a named FPS cap is available unless the current in-game menu explicitly shows it.
- Do not use a single brief FPS spike as proof of smoothness. Repeat the same demanding activity and judge frame consistency.
A concise decision checklist
- Does the PC have Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 11, and at least 16 GB RAM?
- Is the CPU at least an Intel i7-8700 or Ryzen 5 3600, and is the GPU at least a GTX 1060 6GB or RX 580?
- Has the current platform’s storage requirement been checked, given the Steam/Epic discrepancy?
- Was a repeatable baseline recorded before changing options?
- Was only one control or related group changed at a time?
- Was the result checked in both an ordinary scene and a demanding one?
- Was the change kept only when it improved frame pacing or responsiveness without an unacceptable visual compromise?
