Those are the developer and publisher’s published targets: 30 FPS and 60 FPS respectively, at native resolution without upscaling. They are specifications, not independently tested guarantees.
Recommended starting settings by resolution
| Resolution | Graphics preset | Published frame-rate target | Hardware tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1080p, native resolution | Very Low | 30 FPS | Minimum requirements |
| 1440p, native resolution | High | 60 FPS | Recommended requirements |
These targets come from the official Steam listing. Neither target uses upscaling. The listing does not establish an official 1080p/60 FPS or 4K target.

If your PC is near minimum
Choose Very Low at 1080p as your starting point. Treat 30 FPS as the published target for the minimum tier, not a promise that every scene or system configuration will hold that rate.

If your PC is near recommended
Choose High at 1440p as your starting point. The published target is 60 FPS, but actual performance can vary with hardware configuration and in-game conditions.

If your PC falls between or outside those tiers
Pick the resolution you want to play at, begin with a preset your hardware can sustain, and lower the overall graphics preset if performance is unsatisfactory. The available sources do not support universal ideal values for individual options such as shadows, lighting, or textures.
Check whether your PC matches the published requirements
Steam specifies the following configurations for the two targets. Both require DirectX 11, an SSD, 16 GB of RAM, and 42 GB of available storage.
| Requirement | Minimum: 1080p / 30 FPS / Very Low | Recommended: 1440p / 60 FPS / High |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-11600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Intel Core i5-13600K or AMD Ryzen 5 7600 |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GTX 1660 SUPER, RTX 3050, RX 6600, or Arc A750; 6 GB VRAM | RTX 4070 or RX 7800 XT; at least 12 GB VRAM |
| Graphics API | DirectX 11 | DirectX 11 |
| Storage | 42 GB available; SSD required | 42 GB available; SSD required |
These are the Steam-listed specifications, not independent performance benchmarks. Steam also gives separate laptop GPU equivalents and cautions that mobile GPUs can perform below desktop equivalents. A laptop GPU with a similar model name is therefore not a guarantee of desktop-equivalent performance; check the specific laptop’s GPU and power configuration. See the Steam requirements for the listed laptop equivalents.

Does Nivalis Nights support DLSS or FSR?
Current support for DLSS, FSR, or other upscaling technologies is reported as absent by the Nivalis Nights Wiki’s system-requirements page, which summarizes the publisher FAQ. Steam’s two published targets explicitly use native resolution without upscaling. Future support is described as under evaluation, with no delivery date stated. Do not plan on an in-game DLSS or FSR option being available now.
What to try when performance is poor
- Lower the graphics preset. The publisher FAQ suggestions summarized by the wiki include lowering the preset. The sources do not identify a specific individual option as a universal performance fix.
- Update your GPU drivers. This is also listed as publisher guidance in the wiki summary; it is a troubleshooting suggestion, not a measured guarantee.
- Close background applications. This may reduce competing system load, but no performance gain is quantified in the available guidance.
Recent updates may affect performance, but published notes do not provide independently measured FPS gains. The wiki reports publisher-described optimizations in Patch 01.10, including light-culling and character-detail changes in Update #2. It also reports frame-rate variation in crowded areas.
Performance drop after fast travel
The wiki reports a remaining issue that can reduce performance after fast travel to some locations. Its summary of the publisher’s workaround is to save after reaching the destination and reload that save. A fix was still in progress in the information summarized there, so this should not be treated as resolved.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
Report a technical issue
The wiki says the publisher’s Windows support instructions request a DxDiag report and relevant log files. If you are following those instructions, collect Player.log and Player-prev.log before relaunching the game: a new launch replaces older logs. Check the publisher’s current support instructions before sending diagnostic files.
Installation note
Steam lists 42 GB of available storage and requires an SSD. No particular drive capacity beyond the free-space requirement, interface, speed, or model is specified.
