The game is publicly listed for 2027, and its current PC listing provides hardware requirements but no graphics-menu breakdown, frame-rate target, benchmark, or confirmed upscaling support. Until launch testing exists, the safest profile is to use the detected or High preset at your monitor’s native resolution, then reduce the most expensive options one at a time—shadows, volumetric effects, reflections, and view distance—while checking frame-time stability in late-game, densely populated maps.
What is actually known about HUMANKIND 2 graphics
AMPLITUDE Studios’ 2026 PC listing describes enhanced visuals and a modernized interface, but it does not publish the individual settings available in the menu. There are no public HUMANKIND 2 FPS measurements, preset comparisons, launch-stability reports, or confirmed tests showing whether a particular graphics card delivers 60 frames per second at a particular resolution.

That makes any exact “Ultra at 1440p” or “best settings for 60 FPS” recipe premature. The method below is a launch-day starting point rather than a measured benchmark result. It is designed to give you a repeatable way to find a stable image-quality/performance balance once the game is available.

| Component | Minimum listing | Recommended listing | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit | The recommended software target is newer; the listing does not explain whether later Windows versions change performance. |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-4430 or AMD FX-8350 | Intel Core i7-6700 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X | These are compatibility tiers. No turn-time or simulation benchmark is published. |
| System memory | 8 GB RAM | 12 GB RAM | Use the recommended figure as the more comfortable starting point for the game and background applications. |
| Graphics processor | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (4 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT (8 GB) | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (8 GB) | The recommended graphics tier is the clearest published guide to image-quality headroom. |
| Graphics API | DirectX 11 | DirectX 12 | The listing names an API target but does not document a player-selectable DirectX switch. |
| Storage | 20 GB | 20 GB | This is the stated capacity requirement. It does not specify an SSD requirement or account for patches and save-file growth. |
The listing gives no official target for 1080p, 1440p, ultrawide, or 4K. It also does not state whether the listed GPU memory figures are a hard VRAM floor, so do not treat “8 GB” as a separately confirmed VRAM requirement for every graphics setting.
The safest launch-day graphics workflow
Follow these steps after the game detects your hardware. The labels may differ from the final release, so use the closest equivalent rather than assuming a setting exists.
- Confirm the machine before tuning. Check your Windows edition, processor, installed RAM, graphics-card model and available storage. Compare the GPU first, then verify CPU and memory. A graphics preset cannot compensate for a system below the published processor or memory baseline.
- Install the game with room for updates. The listing specifies 20 GB, but it does not state how much space future patches require. Keep additional free capacity instead of filling the drive to the exact published minimum. An SSD is a sensible choice for shorter loading, although the listing does not require one.
- Start at native monitor resolution. Select the resolution your display is designed to use and begin with the detected or High preset. Native resolution gives you a clear reference for judging image quality before you trade pixels for performance.
- Choose a practical frame-time goal. The publisher has not announced an FPS target. Match your goal to your display and tolerance for stutter, then watch consistency rather than chasing a peak number. A lower but steady result is usually preferable to large swings during camera movement or map scrolling.
- Change one expensive option at a time. If the frame time is unstable, reduce shadows first, then volumetric effects, reflections, and view distance. Apply one change, repeat the same camera movement or scene, and record whether the result improves. This isolates the setting that costs performance on your system.
- Test the situations that stress a strategy game. Check a busy city, a map with many visible units, camera movement across several regions, and a late-era save with more objects and effects. A profile that looks smooth in an empty opening area is not proven for a dense late game.
- Keep a fallback profile. Save your first stable configuration, or write down each change. If a driver update or game patch alters performance, you can return to the known profile instead of rebuilding it from memory.
Starting profiles by hardware tier
These are practical starting points derived from the published tiers, not tested HUMANKIND 2 presets. The final game may use different names or expose additional controls.

| Hardware position | Initial profile | Adjustment order | What is not established |
|---|---|---|---|
| Near the minimum GTX 960/RX 5500 XT tier with 8 GB RAM | Use the detected profile; if it is unstable, select the game’s lower preset if available and keep native resolution only if frame times remain consistent. | Shadows, volumetrics, reflections, then view distance. Consider a lower resolution only after testing those options. | No minimum-tier FPS or resolution has been published. |
| At the recommended GTX 1070/RX 5700 XT tier with 12 GB RAM | Begin with High at native resolution. | Lower individual expensive options when late-game scenes become inconsistent; avoid changing several options together. | The listing does not prove that this tier reaches 60 FPS, 1440p, or any named preset. |
| Above the recommended GPU tier | Begin with High and raise available options one at a time. | Compare image quality and frame-time consistency after each increase. Keep a stable profile for dense maps. | There is no published Ultra target, 4K result, or benchmark showing how much extra headroom faster cards provide. |
What to do with specific GPUs
GeForce GTX 1070
The GTX 1070 with 8 GB is explicitly named in the recommended listing. That makes it a sensible reference point for the High-preset starting profile, but it is not a promise of a particular frame rate. Confirm performance at your chosen resolution and in late-game saves before increasing shadows, volumetrics, reflections, or view distance.
GeForce GTX 1060
A GTX 1060 is not named in the published minimum or recommended list. The available data therefore cannot confirm its preset, resolution, or FPS behavior. Treat it as an unverified configuration: compare its exact model and memory against the listed tiers, start conservatively, and judge the result only through repeatable in-game testing.
Cards below the minimum listing
Hardware below the listed GTX 960/RX 5500 XT graphics tier is outside the published baseline. You may experiment with lower resolution and the lowest available options, but there is no evidence-based performance expectation to attach to that configuration.

- Seamless gaming: FreeSync Premium and HDMI VRR eliminate tearing for smooth, responsive PC and console gameplay.
- Fast IPS: Faster 0.5ms response with excellent color accuracy across wide IPS viewing angles.
- Rich color: 99% sRGB color coverage delivers vivid, detailed imagery with strong accuracy.
- Eye comfort: TÜV Rheinland 3‑star certified display lowers blue light while preserving color quality.
Resolution, upscaling and image quality
HUMANKIND 2’s current listing does not state which upscalers, dynamic-resolution modes, anti-aliasing methods, or sharpening controls the release will include. Do not buy hardware or choose a preset on the assumption that a named technology will be available.
Use native resolution as your reference. If the final menu offers an upscaler or dynamic resolution, compare it with native output in the same scene: inspect text, map borders, unit silhouettes, fine terrain detail, and moving camera shots. Prefer the clearest mode that maintains your frame-time goal. If no such option exists, lower the expensive effects identified in the workflow before making a large resolution cut.
RAM and VRAM: what the listing does and does not say
System RAM
The published baseline is 8 GB, while the recommended configuration is 12 GB. The 12 GB figure is the better planning target because the operating system and background applications also need memory. Close unnecessary launchers, browsers, overlays, and recording tools when diagnosing stutter; otherwise you may mistake system-memory pressure for a graphics-setting problem.

If your PC has exactly the minimum memory, avoid running large background workloads while testing. A memory upgrade can improve overall headroom, but the listing does not provide a measurement showing how much it changes FPS or turn times.
Graphics memory
The GPU entries pair the minimum models with 4 GB and 8 GB capacities and pair both recommended models with 8 GB. Those are the capacities of the listed cards, not a separately stated HUMANKIND 2 VRAM threshold. Watch the final game’s memory indicator, if it provides one, and lower texture or other memory-heavy options only when the menu exposes them and your card shows pressure. No texture-quality recommendation is currently supported by a published test.
CPU limits and late-game performance
Strategy games can expose processor limits through simulation and turn processing even when the graphics card is underused. HUMANKIND 2’s listing names the Core i5-4430/FX-8350 as minimum processors and the Core i7-6700/Ryzen 5 1500X as recommended processors, but it publishes no measurements for end-turn duration, artificial-intelligence workload, or map size.

When diagnosing a slow late game, separate two symptoms:
- Low rendering performance: camera movement and animation look uneven. Test the graphics workflow and expensive visual options.
- Long turn processing: the interface waits while other factions act, even when camera movement is smooth. Lowering shadows or reflections may not change this; check CPU usage and compare an early save with a late save.
Do not label a system “too slow” from one unusually complex turn. Repeat the same turn where possible and note whether the delay grows with map population or remains constant.
Troubleshooting branches
Uneven camera movement or frequent stutter
- Return to the saved stable profile and test the same scene.
- Reduce shadows, volumetric effects, reflections, and view distance in that order.
- Disable nonessential overlays and recording software.
- Check whether the problem appears only in late-game or dense-map scenes; that distinction helps separate rendering load from a general system issue.
Low FPS but smooth frame pacing
- Lower one expensive visual option rather than switching every setting at once.
- Test a lower resolution only after checking the individual effects.
- Confirm that the game is using the intended graphics processor, particularly on systems with integrated and discrete graphics.
Crashes, driver resets or missing graphics options
- Verify that Windows and the graphics driver meet the game’s published software target.
- Return settings to the detected profile and retest before making further changes.
- Record the exact map, save, resolution and setting change that precedes the failure. A reproducible report is more useful than a general claim that the game is unstable.
Memory warnings or severe hitching
- Close background applications and check available system RAM.
- Confirm that the graphics card is one of the listed models or a comparable tier; the publisher has not yet supplied a standalone VRAM minimum.
- Use the game’s lower preset if available and test again before changing resolution.
How to judge a profile after launch
A useful profile should survive more than a short menu test. Use a repeatable checklist:
- Native-resolution image remains readable at your normal viewing distance.
- Camera movement is consistent in an early map and a crowded late-game save.
- Changing one expensive option produces an observable, repeatable difference rather than a one-off fluctuation.
- Turn processing remains acceptable when several factions act.
- There is enough free storage for patches beyond the published 20 GB capacity figure.
- The profile remains stable after restarting the game and loading the same save.
When independent testing becomes available, the most useful comparisons will be native resolution versus any supported upscaling, early- versus late-era frame-time consistency, the cost of shadows, volumetrics and reflections, VRAM use, CPU turn behavior, and image quality on minimum and recommended hardware. Those measurements—not a preset name alone—will establish which settings are genuinely best.
Bottom line for choosing settings now
Use the published requirements as a hardware filter, not as an FPS promise. A PC around the GTX 1070/RX 5700 XT and 12 GB recommended tier should begin at High and native resolution, while a system near the GTX 960/RX 5500 XT and 8 GB minimum tier should keep a lower preset ready. Tune shadows, volumetrics, reflections, and view distance one at a time, and validate the result in dense late-game situations. Until HUMANKIND 2 ships and independent benchmarks exist, any more precise preset or frame-rate claim would be speculation.
