Best Graphics and Control Settings for Smoother Call of Duty: Mobile Matches

For a performance-first setup in Call of Duty: Mobile, set Graphics Quality to Low, choose the highest Frame Rate tier your phone can sustain (the usual starting point is Max), and initially disable Depth of Field and Real-Time Shadows. Then tune sensitivity and your HUD in small steps. This prioritizes consistent frame delivery and clear targets over visual detail, but it is a starting point rather than a guarantee for every phone, game mode, or software build.

The settings below also help you identify whether a problem is rendering performance, touch control, or the network. Change one setting at a time, repeat the same practice drill, and keep the configuration that remains stable during a full match.

What “smoother” means in COD Mobile

A smooth match has two separate requirements:

  • Stable frame delivery: the game draws frames consistently, so camera movement and aiming do not hitch.
  • A reliable connection: your device can exchange game data without connection warnings or severe delay.

Lowering graphics settings can reduce rendering work, but it cannot repair a weak Wi-Fi connection. Conversely, a strong connection will not prevent stutter caused by a device that cannot sustain its selected frame-rate tier. Diagnose those symptoms separately before changing every control slider.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Start with this performance baseline

  1. Open the in-game Settings menu and find the Graphics section.
  2. Set Graphics Quality to Low.
  3. Set Frame Rate to Max, or to the highest tier that remains stable on your device.
  4. Turn off Depth of Field and Real-Time Shadows for your first test.
  5. Play the same mode and, if possible, the same practice drill for several minutes. Watch for stutter, heat, or a frame-rate tier that the phone cannot hold.
  6. If the game still stutters or becomes uncomfortably hot, select the next lower frame-rate tier and test again. Do not raise graphics quality until the frame rate is consistently usable.

Google Play’s COD Mobile editorial guide specifically recommends Low graphics and Max frame rate for performance-focused play. It does not establish that every device can sustain Max, nor does it provide a measured frame-per-second gain from any individual toggle.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)
  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Graphics options: what to change and why

Setting or choice Performance-first action What to expect
Graphics Quality Start at Low Less visual detail in exchange for a lighter rendering workload. This is a recommended starting point, not a device benchmark.
Frame Rate Use Max first, then step down if unstable A higher tier can feel more responsive only when the phone can sustain it. A consistently lower tier is preferable to an unstable higher one.
Depth of Field Turn off while troubleshooting Removes a cinematic focus effect and may make targets easier to see. No source quantifies the FPS change.
Real-Time Shadows Turn off while troubleshooting Removes dynamic shadows that can add rendering work and visual clutter. No universal FPS improvement is established.
Anti-Aliasing, Bloom and Ragdolls Use the labels and choices shown in your current installation Activision’s detailed controls article from 2019 lists these as additional visual options, but current builds may rename, move or omit them.

Once the baseline is stable, re-enable a visual option only if you value its appearance and the phone continues to deliver consistent play. Test one option at a time so you know which change caused a problem.

How to find the highest stable frame-rate tier

Use repeatable tests instead of a single match

Menus, a quiet practice area and a crowded multiplayer firefight place different demands on a phone. Run the same movement-and-aim drill after each change, then play a complete match before making a decision. A setting that feels fine for 30 seconds can become unstable after the device warms up.

Choose consistency over a higher label

“Max” is a menu tier, not a promise that your phone will render every frame at that rate. If you see recurring hitching, delayed camera movement or heat-related instability, lower the frame-rate tier while keeping Graphics Quality Low. This approach follows the performance recommendation without claiming a result that has not been measured on your device.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Keep visual clarity in the test

Disabling Depth of Field and Real-Time Shadows is a useful first test because it removes effects that can obscure opponents or add work. It does not mean every player must leave them off forever; decide after checking stability and target visibility in your own matches.

Compare the trade-offs before you settle

Every choice in the menu balances a different priority. Low graphics favors stable frame delivery over surface detail. A higher frame-rate tier favors responsiveness only when the phone can sustain it. Fixed buttons keep controls in predictable locations, while a custom HUD can put each action within easier reach. Standard touch aiming requires no accessory; gyroscope aiming adds motion input; a controller replaces touch for supported matches. None of these choices has been shown to be universally best across devices.

Write down the setting you are testing and the symptom you are watching for. For example, compare Low plus Max against Low plus the next lower tier for hitching during a crowded fight, not for image quality in an empty menu. Compare two HUD positions by counting accidental presses in the same drill, not by copying a layout from another player. This keeps the decision tied to your phone, grip and mode.

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

Sensitivity settings that are sensible starting points

Google Play’s guide gives ranges rather than universal “best” values:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Control Starting range How to use it
Standard Sensitivity 90–100 Begin near the middle, then adjust for comfortable camera turns without overshooting.
ADS Sensitivity 130–150 Test while aiming down sights; lower it if small corrections feel jumpy, or raise it if tracking feels sluggish.
Gyroscope standard movement 130–160 Use only if you aim with device movement. Start in the middle of the range and make small changes.

These numbers are configuration guidance published by Google Play, not results from a controlled test and not “professional” settings. Screen size, touch sampling behavior, device grip, play style and personal preference all affect what feels controllable.

A one-change calibration routine

  1. Choose one sensitivity category, such as Standard.
  2. Pick a repeatable drill: rotate to a fixed target, aim down sights, track it, and repeat several times.
  3. Change the value by a small amount rather than jumping across the entire range.
  4. Repeat the drill and note whether you stop on target more reliably.
  5. Keep that value, then move to the next category. Do not alter graphics, HUD placement and multiple sensitivity sliders simultaneously.

This method does not prove that a particular number improves accuracy; it simply isolates how each change feels on your device.

Gyroscope: optional motion aiming

A gyroscope uses the physical movement of the phone to aim or look. Activision’s controls overview describes an option to enable it for all aiming and look controls or only while aiming down sights. Google Play notes that it can be useful for fluid camera control in Battle Royale.

When to try it

  • Enable it if you are comfortable making small, deliberate tilts while keeping a firm grip.
  • Choose the ADS-only option if you want normal touch camera control until you raise your sights.
  • Use the standard-movement range of 130–160 as a starting point, then calibrate with the one-change routine.

Gyroscope aiming is optional. It is not required for a smooth match, and a sensitivity value that works for one player or phone is not a universal optimum.

Field of view and aim assistance

Field of view (FOV)

Google Play suggests trying an FOV around 75 as a balance. Activision’s October 9, 2019 controls article documents first-person camera FOV values from 51 to 75. Treat 75 as an experiment for the current build, not a verified best setting for every screen size. A wider view can change how targets appear and how much of the scene you see, so compare it in the mode you actually play.

  • Travel Must-Have for People On the Go: A must-have travel accessory for flights, flying, airports, air travel, airplanes, planes, international trips, cruises, and long travel days. Key gadget for your airport haul, travel accessories and must-haves.

Aim Assist

Google Play and Activision both describe Aim Assist as an available option. It is a reasonable choice for newer players or anyone who wants help keeping shots on target, but it is not a guarantee of accuracy and does not replace practice. Turn it on or off, then evaluate the result in the same drill rather than changing it during a wider sensitivity experiment.

Build a comfortable HUD

Use Settings > Controls > Custom Layout to reposition on-screen buttons and change their size and opacity. Menu names or locations can differ by game version, so use the closest current label if your installation is different.

A practical layout process

  1. Open Settings, select Controls, and choose Custom Layout.
  2. Move the fire, aim, crouch, jump, reload and movement controls to positions your thumbs or fingers reach without stretching.
  3. Increase a button’s size if you miss it; reduce opacity only when the control remains easy to see during a fight.
  4. Play a short practice session and check that your firing finger does not cover the target area or another essential button.
  5. Adjust one group of controls at a time and save a backup or screenshot of a layout that works.

There is no cited evidence that a two-, three- or four-finger arrangement is universally superior. The best layout is the one you can reach consistently while keeping targets visible and avoiding accidental presses.

Simple and Advanced firing

Activision’s controls guide describes Simple and Advanced fire modes, along with fixed-fire and joystick-button options. Those descriptions date from 2019; confirm which labels and switches your current build provides before following an old screenshot. Pick the mode that gives you predictable control over when a weapon fires, then test it in the same drill used for sensitivity.

Touch controls, gyroscope and controller input compared

Input choice Strength Trade-off or limit
Standard touch controls No accessory and full access to on-screen controls Requires a HUD that fits your grip and reach.
Touch plus gyroscope Fine camera corrections through small phone movements Needs practice and a comfortable grip; motion sensitivity must be calibrated.
Controller Physical sticks and buttons for players who prefer them Activision supports controllers in Multiplayer and Battle Royale, but native device input is still required for menus, settings and loadouts.

A controller is optional. Activision’s support does not establish that it increases FPS, lowers network latency or makes graphics smoother; it changes the input method only.

Validate settings in the mode you actually play

Use the same mode for comparisons whenever possible. A Battle Royale session can exercise different camera, visibility and gyroscope habits than a short Multiplayer round. If you mainly play Battle Royale, test FOV, Aim Assist and optional gyroscope there rather than deciding from a menu or a different mode. If Multiplayer is your focus, repeat the drill in a real firefight after your practice check. Keep notes on three things: whether motion remains even, whether targets stay visible, and whether your hands can reach every control without blocking the screen.

Do not change several categories between matches. Raising FOV, moving the fire button and changing ADS sensitivity at once makes it impossible to know which adjustment helped or hurt. Save a screenshot of a known-good layout and values before experimenting so you can return to a stable baseline.

When settings do not fix the problem

If the game stutters, freezes or crashes

Use reliability steps one at a time so you can identify the useful change:

  1. Restart the device.
  2. Update Call of Duty: Mobile and the device operating system.
  3. On Android, clear the app cache using the device’s app settings, then reopen the game.
  4. Return to the Low-graphics baseline and test a lower frame-rate tier if the problem persists.

Activision Support presents restarting, updating and clearing the Android cache as troubleshooting measures for freezes or crashes. They are not guarantees of a higher frame rate.

If matches feel delayed or show connection trouble

Check the network before lowering more graphics options. Activision recommends a strong Wi-Fi connection for connection trouble or in-game lag and suggests restarting the device to refresh the connection. A network symptom can remain even when the game renders smoothly.

If the phone meets only the minimum requirements

Activision Support’s page, updated February 25, 2026, lists these minimum compatibility requirements:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Platform Minimum operating system Minimum memory
Android Android 6.0 or later At least 2 GB RAM
iPhone or iPad iOS 15.0 or later At least 2 GB RAM

Meeting a minimum requirement means the game is compatible according to that support page; it is not a promise of high graphics quality or a stable Max frame-rate tier. Older or lower-memory devices should begin with Low graphics and test conservatively.

Common setup mistakes

  • Assuming Max is always better: an unstable high tier feels worse than a lower tier that remains even through a full match.
  • Changing every slider at once: you lose a clear cause-and-effect trail and may undo a setting that was already comfortable.
  • Copying a layout blindly: another player’s hand size, screen ratio and grip can make the same coordinates awkward or hide targets.
  • Confusing lag with stutter: delayed hit registration or connection warnings point you toward Wi-Fi troubleshooting, not necessarily lower graphics.
  • Treating minimum specifications as a performance promise: the listed operating system and RAM figures describe compatibility, not a guaranteed visual preset.
  • Following old menu screenshots literally: Activision’s detailed control guide is dated October 9, 2019, so verify current labels and ranges in your installation.

A repeatable setup checklist

  • Set Graphics Quality to Low.
  • Try Max Frame Rate, then reduce the tier if it cannot remain stable.
  • Disable Depth of Field and Real-Time Shadows for the first performance test.
  • Use Standard 90–100, ADS 130–150 and gyroscope standard movement 130–160 only as starting ranges.
  • Test one sensitivity or visual change at a time.
  • Try FOV around 75, but keep the value that gives the clearest view in your current build.
  • Enable Aim Assist if you want assistance, while recognizing that it is not a substitute for practice.
  • Open Settings > Controls > Custom Layout and place buttons for reach, visibility and reliable presses.
  • Confirm current labels for Simple/Advanced firing, fixed-fire and joystick options rather than relying on a 2019 screenshot.
  • For connection trouble, use strong Wi-Fi and restart the device; for crashes, update the game and device and clear the Android cache when applicable.

The best setting is the stable one your device can sustain

Low graphics, the highest stable frame-rate tier, disabled Depth of Field and Real-Time Shadows, and a carefully adjusted HUD are the safest performance-first starting point. Sensitivity ranges, FOV, Aim Assist, gyroscope and controller input are personal choices layered on top of that baseline. Keep the settings only when they remain comfortable and consistent through complete matches, and treat every menu label as version-dependent.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best graphics settings for smoother COD Mobile matches?

Start with Graphics Quality on Low, Frame Rate on Max, and Depth of Field and Real-Time Shadows disabled. If the phone stutters, overheats or cannot hold the tier, step down to the next frame-rate option. Max is a starting point, not a guarantee for every device.

How do I get smoother FPS in COD Mobile?

Use Low graphics, test the highest stable frame-rate tier, and compare settings in the same drill and a full match. Turn off Depth of Field and Real-Time Shadows first. If instability continues, lower the frame-rate tier rather than adding visual effects.

What sensitivity should I use in COD Mobile?

Google Play’s guide suggests Standard 90–100, ADS 130–150 and gyroscope standard movement 130–160. Treat these as starting ranges. Adjust one category by a small amount, repeat the same aiming drill and keep the value that feels controllable on your device.

How do I change my COD Mobile HUD?

Open Settings, choose Controls and select Custom Layout. Move buttons, then change their size and opacity to suit your reach and visibility. Menu names can vary by build. No two-, three- or four-finger layout is proven best for everyone.

Should I use a gyroscope or controller?

Both are optional input choices. Gyroscope can provide motion-based camera corrections and may be enabled for all aiming or only ADS. Activision supports controllers in Multiplayer and Battle Royale, but menus and loadouts still require native device input. Neither option is proven to increase FPS or reduce network lag.

Why is COD Mobile still lagging after I lower graphics?

Determine whether the symptom is rendering stutter or a connection problem. For connection trouble or in-game lag, Activision recommends strong Wi-Fi and restarting the device. For freezes or crashes, update the game and device and clear the Android app cache. These steps do not guarantee a higher frame rate.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

What phone specifications does COD Mobile require?

Activision Support lists Android 6.0 or later with at least 2 GB RAM, and iOS 15.0 or later with at least 2 GB RAM, on its page updated February 25, 2026. Those are minimum compatibility figures, not promises of high graphics or a stable Max frame-rate tier.

The Bottom Line

For most performance-focused players, begin with Low graphics, the highest frame-rate tier the phone can sustain, and Depth of Field and Real-Time Shadows turned off. Tune sensitivity, FOV, Aim Assist, gyroscope and HUD placement gradually, then verify the result in a complete match. Keep network troubleshooting separate from frame-rate tuning, and treat controllers and higher visual settings as optional choices rather than requirements.
