For the broadest mix of running and multisport features, Garmin’s HRM-Pro Plus is the strongest fit among the models covered here: Garmin says it can provide running dynamics, indoor-run pace and distance, and stored heart-rate data for later transfer after swimming. If you mainly need heart rate sent to a watch, app, or compatible exercise machine, consider the HRM-Dual; for a clip-on option designed for medium- and high-support sports bras, consider the HRM-Fit. Check compatibility with your specific receiving device before choosing, because some functions require a compatible Garmin watch or a particular connection method.
Which Garmin heart rate monitor fits your training?
Garmin lists several heart-rate monitor families, including HRM 600, HRM-Fit, HRM-Pro Plus, HRM 200, and HRM-Swim. Availability can vary by region, so check Garmin’s heart-rate monitor category for your location. The available specifications support a focused choice among three models:

Garmin says HRM-Pro Plus sends heart rate through ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy and provides running dynamics. It can also calculate pace and distance for indoor track or treadmill runs, and store heart-rate data during swimming for later transfer to a compatible smartwatch. Garmin additionally describes step, calorie, and intensity-minute tracking when a watch is not worn. These are manufacturer-described capabilities, not independently verified performance results. #1 Best Overall
- Purpose-built for women, the clip-on design easily attaches to medium- and high-support sports bras (longline, front-zip or light-support sports bras not recommended)
- Premium heart rate monitor transmits accurate real-time heart rate and heart rate variability data to your compatible Garmin devices, compatible fitness equipment, the Tacx Training app and other smartphone apps
- Comfortable to wear and provides accurate heart rate data for various activities, including running, indoor and outdoor cycling, strength training, HIIT, fitness classes and more
- Captures running dynamics, such as vertical oscillation, ground contact time, stride length, vertical ratio and more to help improve your form (requires a compatible Garmin device)
- Computes pace and distance for treadmill or indoor track workouts
Garmin’s published HRM-Pro Plus specifications include a CR2032 battery, a tool-free battery door, a 5 ATM water rating, and a strap size range of 25 to 36.5 inches. Garmin estimates up to 12 months of battery life for triathlon training at one hour per day. Its comparison lists three concurrent Bluetooth Low Energy connections and no stated connection limit over ANT+. These are manufacturer-published specifications and estimates, not independent measurements.
When HRM-Dual is enough
HRM-Dual is the simpler choice if your goal is transmitting heart rate to compatible equipment, apps, or devices rather than buying for HRM-Pro Plus’s described running and stored-swim features. Garmin’s UK product page lists ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy transmission, HRV support, compatibility with Garmin devices, online training apps such as Zwift, and compatible fitness equipment. Consult the Garmin UK HRM-Dual page for its regional product details.

- Bundle Includes: Garmin HRM 600 Chest Strap Heart Rate Monitor, M-XL + USB Wall Plug Charging Adapter Cube + USB3.0 to type-c female adapter Space Gray + Microfiber Cleaning Cloth + P-Bank
- Advanced Running Dynamics with Step Speed Loss: Pair with a compatible smartwatch to access stride-specific data like vertical oscillation, stride length, and ground contact time balance. Step speed loss reveals how much you decelerate with each foot strike—essential for runners looking to fine-tune form and maintain speed during fatigue.
- Built-In Memory for Watch-Free Training: No watch? No problem. HRM 600 records heart rate, calories, pace, distance, and more—perfect for team sports or activities where wrist devices are impractical. After training, sync all data directly to the Garmin Connect app, keeping performance metrics centralized and trackable.
- Comfortable Fit and Rechargeable Convenience: Available in two strap sizes and designed for all-day wear, HRM 600 remains comfortable across a range of activities. After intense sessions, simply detach the sensor and toss the strap in the wash. A rechargeable battery delivers up to 2 months of use per charge—ideal for consistent daily training.
- Real-Time Precision for Peak Performance: Designed for dedicated athletes, HRM 600 transmits accurate real-time heart rate data to compatible Garmin smartwatch, cycling computers, fitness equipment, and apps. Whether on the bike or at the gym, data-driven users get reliable stats to guide intense workouts and endurance sessions.
That UK page lists a CR2032 battery, a 1 ATM water rating, an adjustable washable strap, ANT+ transmission without a stated limit, and up to two concurrent Bluetooth Low Energy connections. Garmin estimates battery life of up to 3.5 years when used for one hour per day. These details are from Garmin’s UK listing and may not match every regional page or model.
How HRM-Fit’s clip-on design changes the choice
HRM-Fit attaches to medium- and high-support sports bras rather than using the conventional chest-strap arrangement. It is worth considering if that attachment style suits your kit and activity. Garmin’s manual says running dynamics require a compatible Garmin device and ANT+ pairing; confirm that your watch or other receiver supports the required connection before choosing it. See Garmin’s HRM-Fit product information and HRM-Fit manual.

Pair HRM-Pro Plus over Bluetooth
For pairing with a phone, tablet, smartwatch, or fitness equipment, Garmin’s manual gives these steps:
- Wear the HRM-Pro Plus and bring the receiving device within 3 m (10 ft.).
- Open the receiving device’s Bluetooth settings and select the heart-rate monitor.
- During pairing, stay 10 m (33 ft.) away from other wireless sensors, as Garmin advises.
- For compatible exercise equipment, look for ANT+LINK HERE or Bluetooth logos.
These distances and instructions come from Garmin’s HRM-Pro Plus manual. Feature compatibility can depend on the receiving device and connection protocol, so a successful heart-rate connection does not by itself establish that every advanced metric is supported.
