Best gaming and performance settings for Infinix GT phones

The best Infinix GT gaming setup is the fastest combination your particular phone and game can sustain without uneven frame pacing or excessive heat. Start by updating XOS and the game, enable X-Boost or Esports Mode, select the phone’s highest useful refresh rate, and choose the game’s highest stable frame-rate option. Then raise resolution, shadows and effects one at a time. If motion becomes inconsistent, undo the last change.

Use a competitive profile for short matches, and a cooler, lower-power profile for long RPG sessions. The exact frame-rate caps, graphics presets and XOS labels vary by GT model, software release, region and game publisher, so treat the settings below as a disciplined starting point rather than a universal preset.

Before changing individual game options, identify your hardware limits. A 144Hz panel cannot make a game render at 144 frames per second if the game, chipset or thermal state cannot sustain it. Conversely, running a 60Hz display while the game is stable at 120 frames per second wastes some of the phone’s responsiveness.

Model Relevant hardware and features Starting point Important qualification
Infinix GT 30 MediaTek Dimensity 7400; 1.5K (1224×2720) AMOLED; 60/90/120/144Hz choices; up to 240Hz touch sampling; GT Trigger; 5,500mAh battery; 45W charging. Use 144Hz for competitive play when the game is consistently fast; use 90Hz or 120Hz for longer sessions if heat or drain rises. Refresh-rate choices and game support can differ by region, firmware and title.
Infinix GT 20 Pro Dimensity 8200 Ultimate; dedicated gaming display chip; 144Hz AMOLED; Esports Mode; advertised support for up to 120FPS gaming; 5,000mAh battery; 45W charging. Try 144Hz with the game’s highest stable frame-rate setting, then lower visual effects before lowering the frame-rate target. Infinix’s “Up to 120 FPS 60 min” Mobile Legends: Bang Bang result is a model- and game-specific claim, not a guarantee for every title.
Infinix GT 10 Pro 120Hz display; 360Hz touch sampling; 4,319mm² vapor-chamber cooling area; 5,000mAh battery; 45W charging; bypass charging. Use 120Hz and a stable high-FPS target. Enable bypass charging for supported gaming sessions when the phone is connected to a suitable charger and temperature is controlled. Infinix’s bypass-temperature figures were measured in its laboratory at 25°C and should not be generalized to other GT models.

Refresh rate and touch sampling are different. Refresh rate controls how often the display can show a new image; touch sampling describes how frequently the phone can read touch input. A high touch-sampling figure does not create extra game frames, and a high refresh rate does not automatically improve a game capped at 60FPS.

Set up the phone before tuning a game

  1. Install current software. On the GT 20 Pro manual’s path, open Settings > System > System update and install any available XOS update. Menu wording can change with an XOS release, so use the Settings search field for “update” if the path differs. Update the game from its official app store as well.
  2. Restart after updates. A restart clears processes left by an update and gives you a consistent baseline for testing. Do not compare one match immediately after an update with another match after the phone has been running for hours.
  3. Open the gaming hub. Launch X-Boost, XArena or the equivalent gaming panel from the game or the phone’s app drawer. Add the game if it is not listed.
  4. Enable the performance profile. X-Boost is intended to prioritize system resources for gaming and expose gaming-specific optimizations. On the GT 20 Pro, enable Esports Mode when you want its game-focused resource and notification controls.
  5. Set a display refresh rate. Choose 144Hz on a supported GT 20 Pro or GT 30 configuration, or 120Hz on the GT 10 Pro, when responsiveness is the priority. Choose 90Hz or 60Hz when the phone is hot, the battery is low or the game cannot approach the higher rate.
  6. Configure touch and triggers. Leave touch enhancements at their normal or high setting unless they cause accidental inputs. On the GT 30, map GT Trigger buttons only to actions that improve control, such as aim, fire or skill activation. Avoid mappings that force your hand over important on-screen controls.
  7. Close unnecessary background activity. Dismiss video, camera, navigation and social apps before launching a demanding title. Do not use an aggressive memory cleaner during a match; repeatedly killing and restarting apps can add stutter.
  8. Choose a repeatable test. Use the same training area, replay, map or five-to-ten-minute match segment after every change. Record whether frame pacing, touch response, temperature and battery drain improved.

Choose refresh rate and frame rate together

When to use 144Hz

Use 144Hz on a GT 20 Pro or GT 30 when the game exposes a frame-rate mode that can remain close to that rate and the phone stays comfortable. It gives the shortest display interval among the listed GT options, which can make camera movement and touch feedback feel clearer in competitive games. It also increases power use, so it is not automatically the best setting for a three-hour session.

When 120Hz or 90Hz is the better choice

120Hz is the natural ceiling for the GT 10 Pro and a sensible compromise on the newer models when 144Hz causes heat or rapid drain. 90Hz can be preferable for an RPG or strategy game that is not consistently fast enough to justify 120Hz or 144Hz. A stable 90FPS presentation usually feels better than a fluctuating 120FPS target.

When 60Hz is correct

Select 60Hz for battery-first travel, a long session in a warm room, or a title whose frame-rate cap is 60FPS. It reduces display work and can slow heat buildup. If you select 60Hz, also choose a 60FPS cap in the game when available; letting the renderer chase a higher rate that the display cannot show can waste power.

Priority Phone display In-game target What to watch
Competitive shooter or MOBA Highest supported rate (144Hz, 120Hz or 90Hz) Highest stable FPS Uneven camera motion, missed touches and rising surface temperature
Long RPG session 90Hz or 60Hz if heat or drain is high Stable cap rather than maximum peak Thermal throttling after 20–30 minutes
Battery-first travel 60Hz Lowest readable setting Battery percentage and background activity

Use X-Boost, XArena and Esports Mode without creating new problems

The gaming hub is most useful when it protects consistency rather than simply selecting every “boost” switch. Enable the profile for the game you are playing, then review what each option changes.

  • Resource priority: Keep the gaming or performance profile enabled for demanding 3D games. It should give the game priority over background activity.
  • Notifications and calls: Use do-not-disturb or the gaming panel’s blocking controls during ranked matches. Allow emergency contacts if you need them.
  • Network controls: If the panel offers a network-priority option, use it only when another app is downloading or syncing. It cannot repair a weak Wi-Fi or cellular signal.
  • Touch optimization: Test any touch-acceleration or edge-rejection setting in practice mode. A setting that feels fast in one game can make deliberate edge swipes harder in another.
  • Performance versus temperature: If an “extreme” mode makes the first few minutes faster but causes later stutter, switch to the normal performance profile and lower graphics effects instead.

Infinix describes the GT 20 Pro’s Esports Mode as creating a “zero-disruption gaming experience” and says its resource management is intended to maintain target FPS and smooth visuals at low temperatures. Those are design goals, not a promise that every game will hold its maximum setting under every ambient condition.

Game-by-game starting settings

Game publishers change menus and frame-rate limits frequently. Use the following as a tuning order for the named games, then use the game’s own performance indicator or your repeatable test to verify the result.

PUBG Mobile and similar competitive shooters

  1. Set the phone to 144Hz, 120Hz or 90Hz according to your GT model and thermal conditions.
  2. In the game, choose the highest frame-rate option first. If the highest option is unstable, step down one level before adding visual quality.
  3. Start with a lower graphics preset and readable texture quality. Reduce shadows, anti-aliasing and extra effects before reducing the frame-rate target.
  4. Disable decorative effects that obscure opponents or create sudden GPU spikes. Keep brightness high enough to see dark areas, but reduce it if the phone becomes hot.
  5. Test a full match segment, not only the lobby. A stable opening does not prove that a crowded late-game area will remain smooth.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

The GT 20 Pro page reports “Up to 120 FPS 60 min” for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Infinix labels this as a published result that varies by game and circumstances, so treat 120FPS as an experiment: select the highest frame-rate option the game exposes, play a sustained match, and keep it only if frame pacing remains even. Lower shadows and skill effects first if team fights produce hitching.

Free Fire

Free Fire is generally less demanding than a large open-world RPG, but a high refresh rate still costs power. Enable the gaming profile, select the highest stable FPS option, and keep effects at a level that leaves enemy outlines and hit indicators clear. If the phone is warm after several matches, move from 144Hz to 120Hz or 90Hz before sacrificing readable resolution.

Genshin Impact and other open-world RPGs

  1. Begin at a medium graphics preset with the game’s highest stable frame-rate cap.
  2. Lower shadows, volumetric effects, reflections and crowd density before lowering texture quality; these options commonly create large scene-to-scene workload changes.
  3. Use 60Hz or 90Hz if the phone cannot sustain the selected target after several minutes. A locked, lower target is preferable to repeated drops.
  4. Keep the phone out of direct sunlight and avoid charging during a hot, graphics-intensive session. Open-world traversal is a better thermal test than a static menu.

These are tuning priorities, not claims that every title offers the same labels or frame-rate choices. A game may restrict high-FPS modes to particular graphics presets, regions or device profiles.

Model-specific recommendations

Infinix GT 30

Use the 1.5K panel’s full resolution when you value image detail and the game remains stable; otherwise, reduce the game’s render resolution before dropping the phone’s system refresh rate. The Dimensity 7400 and 5,500mAh battery provide a strong starting point for long sessions, but battery capacity does not prevent heat. Set 144Hz for shooters and fast MOBAs, then test 120Hz or 90Hz for endurance. GT Trigger controls can move two frequently used actions away from the screen; map them conservatively and check that your grip does not press them accidentally.

Infinix GT 20 Pro

The Dimensity 8200 Ultimate, dedicated gaming display chip and 144Hz AMOLED make high-refresh competitive play the obvious first profile. Enable Esports Mode, select the game’s highest stable FPS, and reduce shadows or effects if the target is missed. The advertised 120FPS Mobile Legends result applies to that title and the stated test context; it should not be read as a 120FPS guarantee for PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Genshin Impact or every XOS version.

Infinix GT 10 Pro

Set the display to 120Hz and use its 360Hz touch-sampling capability where the game benefits from rapid input. Its 4,319mm² vapor-chamber cooling area is designed to spread heat, but it cannot overcome a hot room, direct sun or a blocked case. The phone supports bypass charging, which can be useful for a long plugged-in session when temperatures are controlled.

What bypass charging does—and what it does not do

Bypass charging is a model-specific power path, not a universal “cool mode.” On the GT 10 Pro, Infinix describes power going directly to the motherboard while gaming instead of continually charging the battery. Its official page reports a 2°C average and 7°C maximum temperature reduction in Infinix laboratory testing at 25°C.

Those figures are limited to the GT 10 Pro, the stated laboratory conditions and Infinix’s test method. They do not establish the same reduction for the GT 20 Pro, GT 30, another XOS version, a different charger or a hotter room. Bypass charging also cannot remove heat generated by the chipset, display, radio or charger itself.

  • Enable it only when the phone and XOS expose the feature for your model.
  • Use a reliable, correctly rated charger and cable.
  • Keep airflow around the phone and remove a heat-trapping case if safe to do so.
  • Stop the session or lower the graphics profile if the phone becomes uncomfortably hot, shows a temperature warning or begins throttling.
  • Do not assume bypass charging makes direct sunlight or charging during a demanding game safe.

Thermal and battery practices for long sessions

  • Lower brightness before lowering readability. The display is a significant heat and battery source. Reduce brightness in a shaded room, but keep interfaces and enemy outlines visible.
  • Keep the phone ventilated. Do not place it on bedding, inside a pocket or against a hot laptop exhaust. Direct sunlight can overwhelm the cooling system even at moderate graphics settings.
  • Close unused apps. Stop video playback, cloud uploads and navigation when they are not needed. Background network activity can cause both stutter and drain.
  • Avoid charging through a heat spike. The GT 20 Pro manual advises avoiding charging while running a graphics-intensive game if the phone is overheating. Follow that precaution even if a game remains playable.
  • Use a lower profile early. If you plan to play for hours, start at 90Hz or 60Hz and a stable medium preset rather than waiting for thermal throttling to force a sudden drop.
  • Watch behavior, not only a temperature number. Sudden FPS drops, delayed touch, dimming, frame-time spikes and a hot surface are practical signs to reduce load or take a break.

A repeatable one-change-at-a-time tuning method

  1. Write down the current display refresh rate, game FPS target, graphics preset, brightness and whether X-Boost or Esports Mode is enabled.
  2. Set the highest frame-rate target first while leaving graphics at the game’s default or a moderate preset.
  3. Play the same test segment for at least five minutes, including movement and combat. Note smoothness and heat.
  4. Change one visual option—resolution, shadows, effects or anti-aliasing—then repeat the same segment.
  5. Keep the change only if frame pacing remains stable and the visual improvement matters to you.
  6. If performance worsens, revert the last change rather than changing several settings at once.
  7. Repeat until you reach the best balance for that game. Save separate profiles for competitive play, long sessions and battery-first use.

This method matters because a peak FPS counter can look impressive while frame times fluctuate. Consistent delivery is easier to aim for when every adjustment has a known effect.

Troubleshooting common problems

The game offers no high-FPS option

Confirm that the phone is on the intended refresh rate, XOS and the game are updated, and the title supports that mode for your device or region. Some games unlock high FPS only after a graphics preset is changed or after a restart. Do not use unofficial configuration files or modified clients; they can violate the game’s rules and make troubleshooting harder.

FPS starts high and falls later

This pattern usually points to heat or sustained power limits rather than a missing “boost.” Lower shadows and effects, reduce brightness, move to a cooler location, remove an insulating case and try 120Hz or 90Hz instead of 144Hz. On the GT 10 Pro, test bypass charging under controlled conditions; do not treat the laboratory temperature figures as a guarantee.

Touch feels delayed even at high FPS

Check that the game is actually rendering at the selected target, then test touch optimization and edge-rejection settings in a practice area. On a GT 30, verify that GT Trigger mappings are not conflicting with on-screen controls. A high touch-sampling specification cannot compensate for network latency, a congested server or a frame-time spike.

The phone stutters after switching apps

Close the background app cleanly, return to the game through the gaming hub and repeat the test. If the issue persists, restart the phone and test without overlays, screen recording or floating windows. Keep enough free storage for the game and its updates; do not repeatedly run memory-cleaner tools during play.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Battery drains too quickly

Move from 144Hz to 120Hz, 90Hz or 60Hz, lower brightness, cap FPS at a stable level and disable radios or background sync that you do not need. A 5,500mAh GT 30 or 5,000mAh GT 20 Pro/GT 10 Pro battery changes runtime, but it does not eliminate the power cost of a high-brightness display and sustained rendering.

Recommended profiles at a glance

Use case Display Game settings XOS and thermal choices
Competitive FPS/MOBA Highest supported refresh rate and touch setting Stable high FPS; lower shadows and effects first Enable X-Boost or Esports Mode; use GT Triggers where available; bypass charging only on supported models with controlled temperature
Long RPG session 90Hz or 60Hz when heat or drain is high Medium preset with a stable frame-rate cap Moderate brightness, good airflow and no charging while excessively hot
Battery-first travel 60Hz Lowest setting that remains readable Close background apps and use power saving when necessary

Bottom line for each GT phone

For a GT 30, begin at 144Hz with a high but stable game-FPS target, then use 120Hz or 90Hz when endurance matters. For a GT 20 Pro, combine 144Hz with Esports Mode and verify any 120FPS claim inside the specific game rather than assuming it applies across the library. For a GT 10 Pro, 120Hz, its touch-sampling hardware and carefully controlled bypass charging form the sensible competitive baseline. Across all three, stable frame pacing, readable effects and a manageable temperature are better goals than a momentary peak FPS number.
