20 Minutes Till Dawn: a close alternative with active aiming
20 Minutes Till Dawn is the clearest match here if you want to fend off crowds, gather experience, and build up your character during a run, but prefer aiming and firing yourself rather than relying on the same auto-attacking approach associated with Vampire Survivors. Nintendo’s description frames it as a survival roguelite built around surviving for 20 minutes and choosing upgrades, with weapons, runes, and abilities shaping a build. Nintendo’s US listing says sessions are designed to last 10–20 minutes.
The Nintendo Switch listing gives a release date of December 21, 2023, and says the game is supported on Switch 2 with behavior consistent with Switch. Steam lists the PC release as June 8, 2023. On Steam, the description also identifies persistent progression through Souls and Runes, unlockable characters and weapons, and more than 50 possible upgrades during a run. See the Steam listing for the current PC store details.

Brotato: short waves, shop decisions, and local co-op
Brotato keeps the arena-survival and upgrade loop but breaks a run into short rounds. Steam describes waves lasting 20–90 seconds, with a shop between waves where you can spend collected materials. That rhythm suits players who like making a purchase decision between bursts of combat instead of handling one continuous survival stretch.
Weapons fire automatically by default, though manual aiming is available. Steam says a run takes under 30 minutes and lists local co-op for up to four players, making this the verified pick in this guide for playing together on one system. Its settings also let players tune enemy health, damage, and speed. These are features of the Steam version listing; the sources here do not verify a console release.

- Want rounds with breaks for decisions? Choose Brotato for short waves and a shop between them.
- Want local multiplayer? Brotato is the option whose Steam listing specifies local co-op for up to four players. Nintendo’s listing for 20 Minutes Till Dawn specifies one player on one system.
- Want a verified Switch option? Nintendo lists 20 Minutes Till Dawn for Switch and notes Switch 2 support with behavior consistent with Switch.
What about Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor?
Steam presents Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor in a bundle with 20 Minutes Till Dawn. That confirms a storefront bundle relationship, not that the games play alike. The sources cited here do not provide enough detail to compare its mechanics or confirm its console availability, so it is not a dependable recommendation on that evidence alone.
