Start with Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy. It is the closest broad match for Uncharted 2’s mix of climbing, third-person shooting, stealth, environmental puzzles, hidden tombs and globe-spanning treasure hunting. The collection includes Tomb Raider (2013), Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Lara Croft’s games also allow more optional exploration than Nathan Drake’s largely staged sequences.
If you want a different part of the Uncharted formula, use this ladder: The Last of Us Part I for Naughty Dog’s cinematic storytelling, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for exploration and set-piece action in science fiction, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for archaeology and puzzles, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for treasure hunting in a huge pirate world, God of War (2018) for mythic character drama, and Ghost of Tsushima for historical open-world combat.

Why Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy is the closest match
Uncharted 2’s appeal comes from a very specific rhythm: move through spectacular places, climb through a dangerous route, solve a readable puzzle, fight or sneak past enemies, and uncover a historical mystery. The modern Tomb Raider trilogy follows that same rhythm more consistently than any other option here.

Tomb Raider (2013): the most direct mechanical substitute
The 2013 reboot puts climbing, shooting, stealth, environmental navigation and archaeological discovery at the center of play. Lara moves through a sequence of dangerous locations, using cover and improvised weapons in combat before opening paths through the environment. Optional tombs provide self-contained puzzle rooms that break up the action in the same way Uncharted’s environmental set pieces do.
Its tone is more survival-oriented than Nathan Drake’s wisecracking adventure. Lara is isolated, resources matter more, and the story spends time showing how she becomes an experienced survivor. Choose this first if your priority is the underlying play loop rather than a one-to-one story or character match.
Rise of the Tomb Raider: a broader adventure
Rise of the Tomb Raider expands the formula with larger areas and more opportunities to leave the main route. You still get climbing, gunfights, stealth approaches, hidden tombs and historical artifacts, but the spaces invite more searching between story missions. That extra freedom makes it a strong choice for players who enjoy Uncharted’s travel and discovery but wish its levels offered more room to wander.
The result is a useful middle ground: cinematic missions provide forward momentum, while optional objectives reward careful exploration. It remains recognizably an action-adventure game rather than becoming a pure open-world checklist.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider: the strongest tomb focus
Shadow of the Tomb Raider puts greater emphasis on ancient sites, underwater routes and elaborate tomb challenges. Stealth and exploration remain important, and the environments are built around uncovering hidden paths and artifacts. If puzzles and tombs are the part of Uncharted 2 you remember most, this is the trilogy entry to prioritize after sampling the first two games.
It is also the least linear-feeling of the three in many areas. That is an advantage if you want to investigate at your own pace, but it means the pacing is not as tightly choreographed as an Uncharted campaign.

What the trilogy preserves—and what it changes
- Preserved: third-person action, climbing routes, shooting, stealth, environmental puzzles, hidden tombs, historical artifacts and international adventure.
- Expanded: optional exploration, side activities and spaces that can be revisited or approached from different directions.
- Changed: Lara’s survival-focused characterization and a heavier emphasis on resource management make the mood more serious.

The Last of Us Part I: choose this for Naughty Dog’s storytelling
The Last of Us Part I is the best choice when “like Uncharted” means cinematic direction, carefully framed encounters and character-driven writing from the same studio. It uses third-person movement and combat with a strong emphasis on stealth, environmental storytelling and world-building.
The trade-off is fundamental: this is a much darker and more emotionally severe experience. Encounters are designed around scarcity, tension and survival rather than the breezy momentum of a treasure hunt. You will spend more time reading enemy positions, conserving supplies and absorbing the consequences of the story.
Choose it when the part you want to preserve is Naughty Dog’s ability to connect action to character relationships. Do not choose it expecting a replacement for climbing, ancient puzzles or globe-trotting adventure; those are not its central attractions.
GameSpot lists June 14, 2013 for The Last of Us Part I. That date reflects the listing used for the title; the current edition name, platform support and upgrade path should be checked in your region.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: cinematic exploration in a new universe
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor keeps the feeling of moving through spectacular locations while giving you a much more flexible structure. You travel between planets, explore open zones, unlock movement abilities and fight with several lightsaber styles. The story is large and heavily staged, so it supplies the cinematic scale that attracts many Uncharted players.

Where it matches
- Third-person traversal through visually distinctive environments.
- Abilities that open new routes and reward returning to earlier areas.
- Set-piece storytelling and a clear central hero.
- Exploration that alternates with frequent combat encounters.
Where it differs
Combat is primarily close-range melee rather than third-person gunplay. Parrying, stance selection and timing matter more than taking cover or lining up shots. The zones are also less linear, with optional paths and backtracking that would not fit Uncharted’s tightly edited campaign structure.
Pick Jedi: Survivor if you want the movement, spectacle and exploration of an action-adventure game and are happy to trade historical treasure hunting for science fiction and lightsabers. GameSpot lists April 28, 2023 as its release date.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: the archaeology-and-puzzle alternative
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the most natural substitute for Uncharted’s fascination with lost civilizations, artifacts and international adventure. It follows an original Indiana Jones story through locations including Italy, Egypt, the Himalayas and Shanghai, with a whip used for traversal and combat.
Puzzles are a major part of the experience. Instead of treating archaeological sites as brief transitions between firefights, the game gives you reasons to examine spaces, interpret clues and search for a solution. That makes it the strongest recommendation for players who describe Uncharted 2 primarily as a treasure-hunting puzzle adventure.
The perspective changes the feel
The first-person viewpoint creates a different relationship with the environment. You inspect objects and navigate spaces from the character’s eye level rather than watching an acrobatic hero from behind. The whip provides a distinctive tool for movement and encounters, but the game does not reproduce Uncharted’s third-person shooting cadence.
Choose it when archaeology, historical travel and puzzle solving matter more to you than matching the exact camera or combat format. GameSpot lists December 9, 2024 as the release date.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag: the open-world treasure hunt
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is the pick for players who want the travel and discovery of Uncharted without being confined to a sequence of staged levels. Its Caribbean setting combines land exploration with sailing, ship combat, buried treasure and puzzles. The world is substantially larger than Uncharted’s campaign spaces, and the player decides how much time to spend following the main story or pursuing optional discoveries.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhy it satisfies adventure fans
- Travel: sailing connects islands and gives the journey a strong sense of place.
- Treasure: maps, buried caches and collectibles turn exploration into a continuing hunt.
- Combat variety: swordplay, firearms and naval battles replace Uncharted’s mostly ground-based shooting.
- Freedom: the open world lets you interrupt the main narrative whenever a new location or clue catches your attention.
The cost of that freedom is pacing. Uncharted 2 carefully controls escalation and camera work; Black Flag lets you sail away from the plot for hours. Select it if the idea of charting your own treasure-hunting route is more appealing than a nonstop cinematic campaign. GameSpot lists October 19, 2013 as its release date.
God of War (2018): mythic exploration and character drama
God of War (2018) combines exploration, climbing, puzzles and mythological lore with a strong parent-child relationship. Its world is semi-open: areas connect through a central journey, and optional paths reveal additional stories, challenges and environmental riddles.
The emotional focus is the main reason to choose it. The relationship between Kratos and Atreus gives every detour and confrontation personal weight in a way that differs from Uncharted’s banter-driven partnership. The setting also replaces historical artifacts with mythology, gods and legendary creatures.
Expect a different combat language
Combat is melee-focused and built around deliberate attacks, defensive timing and weapon abilities. There is no equivalent to Uncharted’s cover-shooter loop. Puzzles and traversal are frequent, but they support a character action game rather than a grounded archaeological thriller.

Ghost of Tsushima: historical action in a fully open world
Ghost of Tsushima offers beautiful historical locations, responsive third-person movement and engaging combat. Its setting and sense of place can appeal to players who enjoy Uncharted’s journey through distinctive regions, while its missions provide cinematic framing and dramatic character moments.
The central difference is structure. Tsushima is a fully open world with activities spread across the map. You can pursue objectives in different orders, follow optional stories and spend long stretches exploring without a tightly controlled sequence of climbing and firefights. Combat centers on swordplay, stance changes and stealth rather than shooting.
This is the right choice if your priority is historical atmosphere and polished third-person action, not a direct replacement for Uncharted’s puzzles or gunplay. GameSpot lists July 17, 2020 as its release date.

Linear spectacle versus open-world freedom
Uncharted 2 is built around authored pacing. The game decides when a chase begins, when a vista appears and when a puzzle gives way to a firefight. Among these recommendations, the Tomb Raider trilogy is closest while still offering optional detours. The Last of Us Part I is also strongly directed, although its encounters emphasize stealth and survival.
Jedi: Survivor, God of War, Black Flag and Ghost of Tsushima all give you more freedom to leave the main route. That can make discovery feel richer, but it also means the story will not maintain Uncharted’s constant forward push. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle sits between those approaches: it has a directed international story while giving puzzles and locations room to explore.
Combat and traversal: know the trade-off
If third-person shooting is essential, start with the Tomb Raider trilogy. Its combat can be approached stealthily or loudly while climbing and exploration remain part of the same loop. The Last of Us Part I also uses third-person combat, but stealth and scarcity make encounters more cautious.
Every other recommendation changes the action language. Jedi: Survivor is lightsaber melee, God of War is mythic melee, Ghost of Tsushima is sword combat, and Black Flag combines swordplay, firearms and naval battles. Indiana Jones uses a first-person viewpoint and a whip for both movement and combat. These games can deliver comparable excitement without reproducing Uncharted’s exact mechanics.
