Best Games Like Titanium Court: Match‑3 Combat, Grid Tactics, and Roguelike Alternatives

If you want one clear recommendation, start with Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition. It is the closest substitute for Titanium Court because tile matches directly damage enemies, create mana for spells, and feed RPG progression. No other game in this group preserves that match‑3 combat loop as closely. If the part you value most is the tactical board, short roguelike runs, or strange narrative tone, the best choices change: Cobalt Core, StarVaders, Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale, Sol Cesto, The Royal Writ, and Tactical Breach Wizards each retain a different piece of the formula.

What makes Titanium Court unusual?

Titanium Court is not simply a puzzle game with a fantasy theme. Thinky Games describes it as “a match-3 autobattler strategy game about fighting a pointless war for a bizarre faerie court.” That description identifies the combination you need to preserve when looking for alternatives: matching tiles, manipulating a meaningful battlefield, making economy and unit decisions, and watching a short automated fight resolve.

The battlefield is a grid occupied by your court, opposing courts, and terrain such as water, hills, and forests. Its first phase is a planning puzzle. Matching clears terrain, rearranges the battlefield, and produces resources; you can also move your court. The second phase converts those resources into decisions: you buy combat units, workers, walls, structures, and spells, then let an autobattle play out.

A run usually contains six battles followed by a boss and two or three additional battles. Bosses can be defeated through offensive, defensive, or economic victory conditions, so simply winning every fight in the same way is not always optimal. Jobs also change starting units and income rules, giving different runs distinct economic openings.

Toy Soldiers HD - Nintendo Switch

  • Control fearsome armored vehicles and tanks with explosive firepower as you win the war and earn upgrades for the next thrilling battle on the road to victory

That structure explains why ordinary match‑3 recommendations are poor substitutes. A game can share colorful gems and still miss the grid tactics, the run-level planning, or the absurd faerie-court tone. Conversely, a superb tactical roguelike may have no matching at all. The recommendations below are labeled by the part of Titanium Court they actually preserve.

PC Gamer characterizes the game as “a mash-up of match-three, autobattler and visual novel,” and lists an April 23, 2026 release by developer AP Thomson and publisher Fellow Traveller. The review also lists Steam Deck Verified status. Its verdict is useful when setting expectations: it calls the game “a brilliantly singular roguelite with a surplus of style,” while warning that you need to enjoy match-three to stay with it.

Best direct match for match‑3 combat: Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition

If your non-negotiable requirement is that matching tiles must directly affect a battle, choose Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition. It uses a Bejeweled-like board as the combat interface: matches can damage an opponent, provide mana for spells, and generate experience or gold. That is the same fundamental pleasure as Titanium Court—a board action is simultaneously a tactical action and a resource decision—even though the surrounding structure is different.

Aspect Titanium Court Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition
Role of matching Clears terrain, rearranges the battlefield, and yields resources before an autobattle. Directly damages opponents, supplies mana for spells, and generates experience or gold during combat.
Battlefield A tactical grid containing courts, enemy courts, and terrain such as water, hills, and forests. A puzzle board used as the combat arena; the researched description does not establish terrain-based movement or chokepoints.
Combat resolution You spend resources on units, workers, walls, structures, and spells, then a short autobattle resolves. Matches and RPG abilities form the active battle loop; it is not presented as an autobattler.
Progression RPG progression includes experience, gold, and spell use; the cited material does not establish the same six-battle run format.
Documented editions PC Gamer lists an April 23, 2026 release and Steam Deck Verified status. The 2025 Immortal Edition is documented for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, and Windows. The Switch release is also known as The Legend Returns.

Why it is the right substitute

Puzzle Quest preserves the tactile cause-and-effect that defines match‑3 combat. You are not clearing gems in a separate minigame and then returning to an unrelated strategy layer; the match itself is an attack, spell resource, or progression gain. That makes it the strongest recommendation for someone who enjoyed planning a match in Titanium Court and immediately seeing it alter the fight.

What you will give up

The trade-off is battlefield agency. Titanium Court asks you to reshape terrain, move a court, buy an army, and choose how to meet a boss’s offensive, defensive, or economic condition. Puzzle Quest uses a conventional RPG battle structure around its puzzle board. It is therefore a match‑3 combat match, not a one-for-one replacement for the grid-based autobattler.

Which edition should you buy?

The 2025 Immortal Edition is the current cross-platform reference in the supplied material, with versions documented for Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series, and Windows. On Switch, look for The Legend Returns as the edition name. Exact price, seller, and regional availability can change, so check the store page for your country before purchasing rather than relying on a single global price.

Best alternatives for tactics and roguelike decisions

The next group does not retain match‑3 combat. They are recommended because they preserve the other reasons someone might seek a game like Titanium Court: a constrained board, positional or lane-based planning, meaningful run-to-run choices, and a compact campaign structure.

Game What it preserves How the space works Best for
Cobalt Core Roguelike decision-making and tactical sequencing Lane-based deckbuilder tactics Players who enjoy planning turns and building a run more than matching tiles
StarVaders Roguelike runs, deckbuilding, and grid tactics A tactical grid combined with card-driven actions Players who want the closest strategic substitute for repeated battles and build choices
Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale Compact board management and resource trade-offs Equipment and enemies share a 3×3 grid Players who want every square to matter in a small, readable space
Sol Cesto Risk management during a run Dungeon rooms rather than a battle grid Players who prefer deciding when to push forward, spend resources, or accept danger
The Royal Writ Unit-oriented planning and an eccentric strategic premise Card soldiers used while restoring a kingdom Players drawn to unusual political or fantasy framing
Tactical Breach Wizards Positioning, puzzle-like encounters, and correcting mistakes Rewindable tactical maps Players who want deliberate moves and the ability to test alternatives

Cobalt Core: the lane-based deckbuilder choice

Cobalt Core is a strong pick when the satisfying part of Titanium Court is evaluating a board state, sequencing actions, and improving a build over a run. Thinky Games places it in the adjacent category of lane-based deckbuilder tactics. Lanes give attacks and defenses a spatial relationship, while the deckbuilding layer determines which options you can produce in later encounters.

Why it fits

  • It turns each encounter into a planning problem rather than a reflex test.
  • Its run structure rewards choices that remain useful over several battles, similar to how jobs and income rules shape a Titanium Court run.
  • Its lanes make positioning meaningful without requiring a large battlefield.

Where it differs

There is no match‑3 board and no terrain-clearing phase. You are building and sequencing a deck, not converting tile matches into workers, walls, structures, or spells. Choose it for tactical run management, not for the visual rhythm of matching.

StarVaders: the closest tactical roguelike structure

StarVaders combines roguelike deckbuilding with grid tactics. That combination makes it the most natural choice when you liked Titanium Court as a sequence of battles in which every reward, purchase, and positioning decision affects what comes next.

Sid Meier's Civilization VI - Nintendo Switch
  • The path to victory is the one you determine
  • See the marvels of your empire spread across the map
  • Unlock boosts that speed your civilization's progress through history
  • Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) Content Description: Drug reference, language, mild violence, suggestive themes
  • Supported play modes: TV Mode, Tabletop mode, Handheld mode

Why it fits

  • The grid supplies explicit positional choices instead of reducing combat to a single health bar.
  • Deckbuilding gives each run a build identity and makes rewards consequential.
  • Its roguelike structure supports experimentation: a failed run can still teach you which combinations and routes are viable.

Where it differs

Its actions are card- and grid-driven rather than match-driven. It also does not reproduce Titanium Court’s two-phase loop of clearing terrain, spending a temporary economy, and watching an autobattle. If you want direct control of tactical movement, however, it may feel more hands-on than Titanium Court.

Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale: a 3×3 board where space is the resource

Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale puts equipment and enemies together on a 3×3 grid. The board is much smaller than Titanium Court’s terrain-filled battlefield, but the design question is related: which object should occupy which square, and what opportunity are you giving up by taking it now?

Why it fits

  • The 3×3 layout is immediately legible, so you can reason about the whole state before committing.
  • Equipment and enemies compete for limited space, creating decisions that are both positional and economic.
  • Its compact presentation suits players who like short, repeatable runs rather than a long campaign.

Where it differs

Matching is not the engine of combat, and the board is a fixed equipment-and-enemy grid rather than a changing landscape of water, hills, forests, and courts. It is best understood as a small-space tactical alternative, not a match‑3 replacement.

Sol Cesto: risk management without a conventional battle board

Sol Cesto belongs on this list for a different reason. Thinky Games identifies it with risk management in dungeon rooms. The appeal is the same kind of forward planning that makes a Titanium Court run compelling: you must decide how much danger to accept now in exchange for a stronger position later.

Why it fits

  • Each room presents a constrained decision rather than an unlimited menu of actions.
  • The focus on risk makes route and resource choices matter across a run.
  • Its dungeon-room structure offers a change of pace if you enjoy roguelike tension more than battlefield spectacle.

Where it differs

It does not provide the match‑3 layer, the court-moving grid, or the unit-purchase phase. Select it when “another run with meaningful consequences” is your priority, not when you specifically want to line up tiles.

  • Traverse a vibrant world, assemble units and direct them into exquisitely animated battles.
  • Perform heroic deeds and grow renown throughout the five nations.
  • Cultivate a grand army with over 60 unique characters, from humans and elves to massive beasts and heavenly angels.

The Royal Writ: card soldiers and an unusual strategic premise

The Royal Writ uses card soldiers while you work toward kingdom restoration. Its connection to Titanium Court is primarily structural and tonal: you are making strategic choices inside a deliberately unusual fantasy setting, and your available forces are represented through a constrained set of cards rather than a conventional army-management interface.

Why it fits

  • Card-based soldiers make each recruitment or deployment decision easy to inspect.
  • The kingdom-restoration objective supplies a broader purpose than simply winning isolated fights.
  • Its eccentric premise may appeal to readers who enjoyed the absurd faerie-court framing of Titanium Court.

Where it differs

There is no evidence in the supplied material that it includes match‑3 combat, terrain rearrangement, or autobattles. Treat it as a thematic and strategic neighbor, not as a mechanical clone.

Tactical Breach Wizards: rewindable tactical puzzles

Tactical Breach Wizards is the choice for readers who liked the idea of solving a battlefield as a puzzle but would rather control every move. Thinky Games describes its encounters as rewindable tactical puzzles. That rewind function changes the emotional cost of experimentation: you can test a line, see why it fails, and rewind instead of abandoning the entire attempt.

Why it fits

  • Positioning and sequencing are central, so a move can create or eliminate an opening several turns later.
  • Rewinding encourages experimentation and makes tactical mistakes informative.
  • Its puzzle-like maps reward understanding the encounter rather than relying on a single high-damage tactic.

Where it differs

It is a direct-control tactical game, not an economy-driven autobattler. You will not clear terrain for resources, buy workers or walls, or watch a short automated fight resolve. Choose it when agency and tactical problem-solving matter more than match‑3 rhythm.

A roguelike run with tactical positioning and build choices StarVaders It combines deckbuilding, grid tactics, and repeatable runs.
Turn sequencing and lane control Cobalt Core Its lane-based deckbuilder structure makes order and positioning central.
A tiny board with high information density Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale Enemies and equipment share a 3×3 grid.

Unusual fantasy framing and card-based forces The Royal Writ It centers card soldiers and kingdom restoration.

How to avoid choosing the wrong substitute

Do not treat “grid” as a complete genre description

A grid can mean very different things. In Titanium Court, it is a changing battlefield whose terrain is cleared and rearranged before resources become units and structures. In Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale, it is a fixed 3×3 inventory-like space. In StarVaders, it supports tactical positioning alongside deckbuilding. Compare what occupying a square actually does, not merely whether screenshots contain tiles arranged in rows and columns.

  • Multiple characters will weigh in on critical decisions by casting their votes on the Scales of Conviction
  • Strategically maneuver characters around multi-tiered battlefields to gain the upper hand
  • Use the terrain to your advantage by flanking enemies or linking elemental attacks to take down your opponents

Separate active matching from passive puzzle flavor

Only Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition in this list is documented as using matches to damage enemies, provide mana, and generate experience or gold. The other recommendations may contain cards, grids, or puzzle-like decisions, but they do not make a match‑3 move the attack itself. This is the most important distinction for anyone coming to the list specifically for match‑3 combat.

Decide whether you want automation or control

Titanium Court lets you make the strategic preparations and then watch a short autobattle resolve. Tactical Breach Wizards, by contrast, expects you to direct the tactical sequence yourself and offers rewinds. Cobalt Core and StarVaders sit between those poles: the emphasis is on selecting and sequencing actions through a deckbuilder system. Your preferred level of control may matter more than the setting.

Check edition and region details before paying

The documented platform information is uneven. Titanium Court is listed as a PC release from April 23, 2026 and Steam Deck Verified. Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition is documented for Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series, and Windows, with the Switch edition also called The Legend Returns. The supplied material does not establish current platforms or prices for the other games, so verify the store listing for your platform and country before purchase.

Bottom line

Puzzle Quest: Immortal Edition is the best game like Titanium Court if “like” means match‑3 actions that directly drive combat. StarVaders is the best alternative for grid tactics plus roguelike deckbuilding; Cobalt Core is the better lane-based planning game; Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale offers the tightest small-grid management; Sol Cesto focuses on risk; The Royal Writ leans into unusual card-led fantasy strategy; and Tactical Breach Wizards turns tactical encounters into rewindable puzzles. None reproduces all four of Titanium Court’s ingredients—matching, terrain tactics, autobattles, and faerie-court absurdism—so choose according to the ingredient you most want to keep.
