None copies Geralt’s action combat and tightly authored journey exactly, so the best next game depends on which part of The Witcher 3 you want to keep.
What makes a game feel like The Witcher 3?
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt combines a defined protagonist, Geralt of Rivia, with dark fantasy, story-led travel through a war-torn world, and action-oriented monster hunting. Its official description centers on Geralt’s search for his adopted daughter Ciri in the Northern Kingdoms, alongside enhancements to visuals, performance, gameplay, and the skill tree. CD PROJEKT RED’s official game page is a useful baseline for that mix.

Choose Baldur’s Gate 3 for role-playing freedom
Baldur’s Gate 3 is the strongest general pick if you want a substantial fantasy campaign where quests can have different solutions and conversations with characters matter. Its relationships and role-playing choices suit players who valued The Witcher 3’s people and decisions. The major adjustment is combat: this is a party-based, turn-based RPG, not an action game about controlling a single monster hunter in real time.
Choose Skyrim to get lost in a fantasy world
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the clearest choice if roaming matters more than following a tightly authored hero’s story. Its magical world offers secrets, monsters, and alchemy, while character creation lets you decide who you are and what to pursue. That freedom is its appeal—and the trade-off if what you most want is Geralt’s fixed identity and a focused personal narrative.
Choose Dragon Age for a party and its relationships
Dragon Age: Inquisition combines a story-driven fantasy setting with companions, romance, character customization, and choices about how the protagonist responds to events. It fits players who want a large-scale narrative and a cast to travel with, rather than a close mechanical substitute for Geralt’s solo action combat.

Choose Dragon’s Dogma 2 for monster encounters
If the contracts and creature fights were your favorite part of The Witcher 3, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a more targeted recommendation than a story match. Its combat includes climbing large monsters, making the encounters a central draw. Choose it for action and monster battles rather than expecting the same narrative structure.
Choose Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 for historical medieval life
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 offers an open-world medieval adventure in 15th-century Europe, following Henry of Skalitz. First-person swordplay and role-play shaped by the player make it a good fit for someone drawn to grounded quests and medieval atmosphere. It is historical, not fantasy: there is no magic-and-monsters setting to carry over from The Witcher 3.

Choose Cyberpunk 2077 if the setting can change
Cyberpunk 2077 is the adjacent pick for someone who primarily wants CD PROJEKT RED’s world-building and quest style. It is an open-world RPG about V in a dangerous future city, not a fantasy adventure. The official company catalogue describes Cyberpunk 2077 as a role-playing game set in a future city; CD PROJEKT RED’s catalogue also identifies the studio’s Witcher series as dark fantasy.

Other options if you are flexible about story or difficulty
- Elden Ring: Consider it for open-world fantasy if you welcome substantially harder combat and less NPC interaction than in The Witcher 3.
- Red Dead Redemption 2: Consider it for a richly detailed world and emotional authored story, but not if fantasy setting is essential; it leaves medieval fantasy behind.
How to pick what to play after The Witcher 3
- Want story choices and character relationships? Start with Baldur’s Gate 3 if turn-based party combat sounds appealing; choose Dragon Age: Inquisition for a companion-led fantasy story.
- Want to explore without a fixed hero’s path? Choose Skyrim for a player-created character and self-directed roaming.
- Want monster fights above all? Look at Dragon’s Dogma 2, while expecting a different narrative emphasis.
- Want medieval atmosphere without magic? Choose Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
- Want CDPR’s quest sensibility more than fantasy? Try Cyberpunk 2077 for a science-fiction setting.
