Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launched on September 25, 2025; SEGA listed its Steam and Epic Games Store versions for September 26. The defining feature is the Travel Ring: after the first lap, racers pass into a CrossWorld for lap two, then return to the original course for the final lap. SEGA says the change can bring different gates, Frenzy events, shortcuts, obstacles, rings, and items. Nintendo lists 24 tracks and 15 CrossWorlds. That shifting-course structure is a useful point of comparison if you want more than a fixed circuit.

For customization
CrossWorlds makes gadgets and vehicle combinations part of the choice. If tuning matters to you, verify what another game’s customization changes—appearance, performance, abilities, or some combination—and whether those options are available in the modes you play. A broad character roster does not by itself mean deep vehicle tuning.
For local, online, or solo play
Before choosing, check the exact edition’s local-player options, online formats, and offline modes, including whether solo time trials or other single-player activities are available. In a 2026 roundup, TechRadar praised the racing, track design, gadget system, and vehicle customization; its reviewer also said meaningful content was still being added at that time. That is a dated editorial assessment, not confirmation of a current update schedule. TechRadar’s coverage includes the reviewer’s view. If CrossWorlds’ changing laps and gadget tuning are the features you want, compare those directly rather than choosing an alternative solely by brand.
