There is no single “best” replacement for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS because each game changes a different part of the battle-royale formula. The most useful choice is to decide what you want to keep and what you want to replace.

Call of Duty: Warzone: the closest structural change from PUBG
Warzone is the most natural choice when you still want a firearm-first, squad-based battle royale but do not want to play the same match structure every time. Activision describes it as “the ultimate free to play combat experience in Call of Duty: Warzone, delivering massive battlegrounds, a deep cast of Operators, and an expanding arsenal of weapons.” That wording identifies the continuity with PUBG—large maps, squads and guns—while its listed modes provide the main point of difference.

Battle Royale
Warzone’s Battle Royale mode uses squad looting and elimination while a gas field shrinks the playable area. If your preferred PUBG routine is landing, searching buildings, managing equipment and rotating toward a final circle, this is the Warzone mode to start with. The weapon and map line-up is seasonal, so the currently listed locations and items should be checked on the official page when you install.
Resurgence
Resurgence changes the emotional rhythm of a match by allowing fallen teammates to redeploy. That comeback rule makes an early knock less final than in a traditional elimination match and gives surviving squad members a reason to keep moving, looting and protecting the team. It is the best Warzone entry point if PUBG’s long stretches of spectating after an early death are what you want to avoid.
Redeployment does not mean every mistake is harmless: the precise conditions and timing are part of the mode’s current rules and can change with seasonal updates. Read the in-game mode briefing before treating Resurgence as a permanent, unlimited respawn system.

Black Ops Royale is a more substantial rule change. Activision’s description says it removes loadouts, the Gulag and Buy Station, then emphasizes scavenging and weapon upgrades. In practical terms, that means you cannot rely on your familiar custom setup or the usual purchase loop. Your early decisions become about finding equipment and improving it through the match.
Choose this mode if you want Warzone’s movement and gunfights with less dependence on preselected builds and fewer established comeback or economy systems. Choose standard Battle Royale instead if you want the most recognizable PUBG-style flow.

Who should choose Warzone?
- Players who want guns and squad looting to remain the center of the experience.
- Players who want several battle-royale rule sets instead of one fixed format.
- Groups with mixed preferences: one person can prefer traditional elimination while another prefers Resurgence’s redeploys.
- Players willing to re-learn maps, weapons and mode rules as seasonal content changes.
Warzone is not the right answer if your main reason for leaving PUBG is that you want to escape firearm combat entirely. For that, NARAKA is the clearer departure.

Apex Legends changes the battle royale by making the chosen character part of your strategy. EA identifies classic 60-person Battle Royale matches alongside limited-time modes and takeovers. That gives you a recognizable large-match format while leaving room for temporary rule changes. Because limited-time content rotates, do not assume a mode described in a video or guide is available indefinitely; check the current in-game menu.
Why abilities change decision-making
In a conventional shooter, a squad’s identity comes mostly from weapons, positioning and communication. Apex adds a character layer: each player brings a legend with powerful abilities, so a team has to coordinate not only where to move and what to shoot, but also when to use those abilities. Platforms and storage
EA’s download page lists the EA app, Steam, Epic Games, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. The same product page currently states a 75 GB hard-drive requirement for Windows. Treat that number as a current published requirement, not a permanent size guarantee: updates can change the space needed, and the requirement should be rechecked close to installation.
Regional storefront listings may differ. Confirm that the game, language options and any required account or network services are available in your country before beginning a large download.
Who should choose Apex?
- Players who want the gunplay of a shooter but find PUBG’s characters too interchangeable.
- Teams that enjoy planning around complementary abilities and communicating during fights.
- Players who want a named 60-person classic Battle Royale option plus rotating modes.

Steam describes it as a game of fast-paced melee fights in which friends team up for a Battle Royale experience, and highlights combos, parries, counters, wall-running, parkour, grappling hooks, unique hero skills and a mixture of melee and ranged weapons.
Melee is the primary skill test
In NARAKA, survival depends on reading an opponent’s close-range attack, choosing when to commit to a combo and responding with a parry or counter. That creates a different learning curve from PUBG’s firearm-first loop. Positioning still matters, but vertical routes and traversal can be part of the attack itself rather than merely a way to reach the next building.

Expect fights to feel more like a contest of timing and spacing. A player who dislikes close-range duels may find the game demanding, while someone bored by repeated rifle engagements may appreciate that every encounter asks different mechanical questions.
Mobility changes the map
Wall-running, parkour and grappling hooks are not cosmetic movement options. They affect how you approach an opponent, escape a losing exchange and choose a route through the environment. A practical decision process before you download
Step 1: identify the part of PUBG you are leaving
Write down one sentence: “I want to leave PUBG because …” If the ending is “matches feel too slow after an early death,” start with Warzone Resurgence. Step 3: check your group’s platforms
For Apex, EA explicitly lists PC launchers, both recent and previous PlayStation generations, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Warzone’s official page links PC storefronts and console platforms, while the cited NARAKA information is the Steam listing. Confirm every squad member’s platform and regional store before committing to a download.
Step 4: check storage and connection constraints
Apex’s currently published Windows requirement is 75 GB of hard-drive space. The cited material does not provide equivalent current storage figures for Warzone or NARAKA, so do not infer them from another edition or an old guide. Reserve additional room for updates and verify the live store requirement immediately before installation.
Step 5: play the mode that matches your test
Do not compare unlike experiences. Test Warzone in Battle Royale if you want PUBG similarity, or Resurgence if redeployment is the reason you are switching. “Free to play” does not guarantee identical access everywhere
Official descriptions characterize all three games as free to play. Storefront rules, account requirements, platform support and regional availability can still differ. Check the local listing rather than relying on a global announcement, and confirm which content is included before assuming that every mode is available on every platform.
Seasonal features can make old guides inaccurate
Warzone’s maps and modes are listed as seasonal, and Apex includes limited-time modes and takeovers. A guide that names a map, event or playlist without a date may be obsolete. Use the current official page and in-game menu for the active rotation.
Do not treat a comeback mode as a permanent safety net
Resurgence’s redeploy rule is a specific Warzone mode feature. It should not be generalized to every Warzone match, and it says nothing about Apex or NARAKA. Select the mode whose death-and-return rules fit your group instead of expecting all three games to handle elimination in the same way.
Do not choose from a tier list alone
Ability-centered games change as balance patches and modes rotate. The official descriptions establish that Apex and NARAKA use character abilities, but they do not prove that one legend or hero is permanently superior.
