Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is the closest overall match if what you want is cyberpunk atmosphere, body augmentation, first-person action, stealth and missions that support more than one approach. It does not reproduce Night City’s broad open-world structure, so the right alternative depends on which part of Cyberpunk 2077 you value most.
Choose Watch Dogs: Legion for a near-future city and hacking, Ghostrunner 2 for rapid first-person katana combat, Cloudpunk for neon-city mood and exploration, or Shadowrun: Hong Kong for deeper cyberpunk role-playing in an isometric, tabletop-influenced format. If the most important features are a great story and decisions that carry real consequences, broaden the search to Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Starfield is the choice for space exploration rather than a close urban-cyberpunk substitute.

What Cyberpunk 2077 is actually offering
PlayStation describes Cyberpunk 2077 as taking place in Night City, a futuristic metropolis, with V as a mercenary pursuing an implant. Its Phantom Liberty expansion adds Dogtown, giving the reference point two related but distinct urban spaces. That combination matters: the game is not just a shooter, not just an open-world map and not just a branching RPG. It combines a futuristic city, action, character building and story decisions.

- Setting and atmosphere: neon cities, cybernetic futures, corporate intrigue or a wider science-fiction setting.
- World structure and scale: a broad open city, a compact hub, mission-based levels or a galaxy of locations.
- Combat pace and perspective: first-person shooting, stealth, hacking, sword-focused speed, turn-based encounters or lighter exploration.
- Story, role-playing and choice: character customization, faction decisions, multiple approaches and consequences that persist beyond one mission.
A reader looking for an “open world,” decisions that matter and a great story may therefore land on different games depending on which of those three priorities is non-negotiable.
Best games like Cyberpunk 2077 at a glance
| Game | Best for | What matches Cyberpunk 2077 | Important difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deus Ex: Mankind Divided | Cyberpunk stealth and flexible mission approaches | Near-future Prague, augmentation, first-person action RPG, stealth and choice of approach | Its city and missions do not provide Night City’s same broad open-world experience |
| Watch Dogs: Legion | Open-world city exploration and hacking | Near-future London, urban action-adventure, hacking and stealth options | Recruitment and multiple protagonists create a systems-led story rather than one fixed character arc |
| Ghostrunner 2 | High-speed first-person action | Neon cyberpunk setting, cybernetic power fantasy and katana combat | It is focused action, not a sprawling role-playing game |
| Cloudpunk | City mood, traversal and exploration | Story-led exploration in a sprawling futuristic city | Much of the combat and character customization expected from Cyberpunk 2077 is absent |
| Shadowrun: Hong Kong | Cyberpunk role-playing, factions and choices | Hacking, corporate intrigue, cyberpunk setting and RPG decisions | Isometric, tabletop-derived combat is very different from first-person action |

The first five recommendations come from GamesRadar+’s editorial comparison of games sharing selected traits with Cyberpunk 2077; the descriptions emphasize where each title diverges. The broader science-fiction recommendations come from a separate RPG comparison. None of these descriptions represent hands-on testing for this guide.
1. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided — the closest cyberpunk-system match
Why it fits
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is the strongest starting point when the appeal is the cyberpunk idea itself: an augmented protagonist, a near-future city, first-person action and missions that can be handled through stealth or a more direct route. Its Prague setting supplies the urban, technologically altered atmosphere that many players seek after Night City, while its role-playing structure lets you build toward the way you prefer to operate.
How it differs
The trade-off is world structure. Prague and the game’s missions do not create the same broad, continuously explorable open-world experience as Night City. Think of it as a denser choice-and-approach game rather than a replacement city sandbox. If your priority is driving across a huge map, it will feel narrower; if your priority is deciding how to enter, bypass or confront a problem, that narrower design is an advantage.
Who should choose it
- Choose it first if stealth, hacking-style problem solving, augmentation and flexible routes matter more than map size.
- Choose it if you want a first-person action RPG with a distinctly cyberpunk identity rather than a generic science-fiction setting.
- Look elsewhere if your main requirement is a large open city with constant side activities and free-form traversal.
GamesRadar+ lists the game for PC, Xbox One and PS4 in its editorial platform snapshot. That is not a live storefront check, so verify the platform and edition available in your region before buying.

2. Watch Dogs: Legion — the open-city hacking alternative
Why it fits
Watch Dogs: Legion is the best match for readers who want to move through a near-future city and use technology as an active part of play. Its London setting supplies urban scale, while hacking and stealth options make the environment feel like something you can manipulate rather than merely cross. This is the recommendation to make when “open world” is more important than matching Cyberpunk 2077’s exact visual language.
How it differs
Its character structure changes the emotional shape of the story. Recruitment and multiple protagonists make the game systems-led: the people in your group can vary, and the experience is not built around one fixed mercenary identity equivalent to V. That flexibility is a feature if you enjoy experimenting with a roster, but it is a caveat if you want one tightly authored character arc with extensive personal customization.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWho should choose it
- Pick it for open-world urban exploration, hacking and stealth options.
- Pick it if a changing cast and emergent situations sound more appealing than a single protagonist.
- Do not choose it expecting the same kind of augmentation-centered RPG progression or the same personal narrative focus.

3. Ghostrunner 2 — the fast first-person action choice
Why it fits
Ghostrunner 2 is the answer when the part you remember most is the sensation of moving quickly through a neon cyberpunk world with a blade in hand. Its first-person perspective, cybernetic power fantasy and katana combat target speed and precision rather than the slower planning associated with stealth-heavy RPG missions.
How it differs
It is important not to mistake the setting for the structure. The game’s focus is concentrated action, not a sprawling RPG with a large city, extensive character customization and a web of conversational choices. It can satisfy the desire for futuristic intensity while leaving the open-world and role-playing requirements largely unmet.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Who should choose it
- Choose it if rapid first-person movement and blade combat are the deciding factors.
- Choose it if you want a strong cyberpunk mood without needing a city-sized sandbox.
- Choose another game if your definition of “like Cyberpunk 2077” depends on branching dialogue, side-quest variety or building a mercenary over a long open-world campaign.
GamesRadar+ lists PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Those are editorial listings rather than live availability data; confirm the version sold for your system and region.
4. Cloudpunk — the atmosphere and exploration option
Why it fits
Cloudpunk is suited to players who want to inhabit a sprawling futuristic city and absorb its mood through story-led exploration. It preserves the sense of scale and neon urban atmosphere that can make Night City memorable, but it approaches that appeal through traversal and narrative rather than combat-heavy role-playing.
How it differs
The omissions are the point. Cloudpunk strips away much of the combat and character customization that a Cyberpunk 2077 player may expect. Its appeal is contemplative city discovery and storytelling, not becoming a heavily augmented fighter, clearing combat encounters or optimizing a build.
Who should choose it
- Pick it when setting, ambience and seeing how a futuristic city functions matter most.
- Pick it when you want a story-led change of pace after an action RPG.
- Skip it as your first choice if meaningful combat builds or a large set of tactical approaches are essential.
GamesRadar+’s snapshot includes PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Verify current platform support and the edition offered in your market.
5. Shadowrun: Hong Kong — the tabletop-influenced cyberpunk RPG
Why it fits
Shadowrun: Hong Kong is a strong recommendation for readers who want cyberpunk role-playing systems, factions, hacking and corporate intrigue more than first-person gunplay. It treats the setting as a framework for RPG decisions and party-based problem solving, giving the genre a distinct interpretation from the one used by Night City.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
How it differs
The perspective and combat style are the decisive differences. The game is isometric and tabletop-derived, so encounters do not deliver the direct first-person pace of Cyberpunk 2077. Its strengths are planning, character and faction choices and the texture of its role-playing world, not seamless driving through an open metropolis.
Who should choose it
- Choose it if factions, dialogue, hacking and RPG decisions are more important than real-time action.
- Choose it if you enjoy an isometric presentation and systems inspired by tabletop play.
- Look elsewhere if you specifically want a first-person shooter or a continuous open-world city.
6. Mass Effect Legendary Edition — the story-and-consequence alternative
Why it fits
Mass Effect Legendary Edition broadens the search beyond cyberpunk while directly addressing two common reasons people recommend Cyberpunk 2077: a strong story and choices with consequences. It is a story-driven trilogy, and decisions made in one game carry across the series. That continuity gives your choices a longer horizon than a single campaign.
How it differs
This is space opera, not an urban cyberpunk substitute. You will not get Night City’s street-level atmosphere or a single open city built around futuristic crime and augmentation. The match is strongest when narrative investment, role-playing and continuity matter more than setting and map structure.
Who should choose it
- Pick it when your priority is a long-form science-fiction narrative shaped by decisions.
- Pick it when you want a trilogy in which choices can carry forward between games.
- Do not pick it expecting neon-city exploration or the same first-person action format.
7. Starfield — the broad science-fiction exploration option
Why it fits
Starfield is the broadest recommendation here. Its appeal lies in character creation, quests and space exploration, making it suitable for a reader who wants a large science-fiction RPG and is willing to leave cyberpunk behind.
How it differs
It is not a close tonal or structural match for Night City. Space exploration changes the rhythm, geography and atmosphere of play, so the comparison should be understood as “another expansive science-fiction RPG,” not “another Cyberpunk 2077.” If a futuristic setting alone is enough, it belongs on the list; if a dense urban city is essential, start with Deus Ex or Watch Dogs instead.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Who should choose it
- Choose it for broad science-fiction role-playing, character creation and exploration.
- Choose it if you are comfortable trading cyberpunk streets for a space-focused setting.
- Choose a closer match if you want hacking, augmentation or a near-future city.
Also consider Deus Ex: Human Revolution if an older game is acceptable
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is an earlier choice-oriented FPS/RPG hybrid and a reasonable option for readers willing to play an older title. It belongs in the same broad family as Mankind Divided: a cyberpunk premise, first-person action and decisions about how to approach situations. Its age is the qualification. Choose it when the design ideas matter more to you than having a newer release, and expect an earlier presentation and structure.
Match the recommendation to what you miss
| If you miss this part of Cyberpunk 2077 | Start with | Why | Accept this trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cyberpunk atmosphere, augmentation and stealth | Deus Ex: Mankind Divided | Near-future Prague, first-person action RPG and flexible approaches | Smaller, less open city structure |
| Open-world urban movement and hacking | Watch Dogs: Legion | Near-future London with hacking and stealth options | Roster-based, multiple-protagonist storytelling |
| Fast neon action and a cybernetic power fantasy | Ghostrunner 2 | First-person katana combat and focused intensity | Limited role-playing and open-world scope |
| Futuristic city mood and traversal | Cloudpunk | Story-led exploration in a sprawling city | Much less combat and customization |
| Cyberpunk factions, hacking and RPG choices | Shadowrun: Hong Kong | Isometric, tabletop-influenced role-playing | Different perspective and combat style |
| Decisions with consequences across a long story | Mass Effect Legendary Edition | Choices carry across its trilogy | Space opera rather than urban cyberpunk |
| Large-scale science-fiction exploration | Starfield | Character creation, quests and space exploration | Little structural or tonal similarity to Night City |
A practical way to choose
- Decide whether the setting is mandatory. If you need cyberpunk rather than general science fiction, limit the shortlist to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Ghostrunner 2, Cloudpunk and Shadowrun: Hong Kong. Add Watch Dogs: Legion if a near-future city is sufficient.
- Decide whether “open world” means map size or freedom of approach. For a city designed around exploration and hacking, choose Watch Dogs: Legion. For missions where stealth and augmentation support different solutions, choose Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, even though its world is not as broad.
- Choose your combat perspective. First-person speed points to Ghostrunner 2; first-person action with stealth and RPG flexibility points to Mankind Divided; an isometric, tabletop-influenced system points to Shadowrun: Hong Kong.
- Rank story continuity against atmosphere. If choices carrying across multiple games matter most, choose Mass Effect Legendary Edition. If simply inhabiting a futuristic city is the goal, choose Cloudpunk.
- Check the platform before committing. The platform lists below are snapshots from GamesRadar+’s editorial pages, not live storefront inventories. Edition names, regional availability and current support can change.
