Best Gacha Games Like Zenless Zone Zero, Summoners War, and Blue Archive

Start with the loop you want to keep: choose Wuthering Waves for real-time action, dodging and exploration; Arknights for tactical placement and pause-and-think battles; Honkai: Star Rail for turn-based team building and a structured campaign; Nikke: Goddess of Victory for a story-led shooter and character-collection loop; or Fate/Grand Order for long-form writing and turn-based party construction.

None is a mechanical copy of Zenless Zone Zero, Summoners War or Blue Archive. The useful comparison is which part of those games matters most to you: manual combat, roster planning, story, presentation, platform access or the amount of daily attention you can spare.

Quick picks

Game Best match for Combat format Why it may appeal to this audience Main adjustment
Wuthering Waves Zenless Zone Zero players who want more action and exploration Real-time action with dodging Keeps the hands-on feel and adds a broad exploration focus More emphasis on roaming and open-area activity than a compact urban action structure
Arknights Blue Archive players who enjoy planning squads and stages Tactical placement with pause-and-think decisions Turns roster building into a problem-solving exercise Success depends more on positioning and timing than reflexes
Honkai: Star Rail Summoners War players who prefer deliberate team construction Turn-based commands Clear party roles, progression decisions and a highly structured campaign It is not a real-time action game
Nikke: Goddess of Victory Players who want story, shooting and collecting in one loop Story-led shooter combat Character acquisition is closely tied to a narrative presentation The shooting format feels very different from melee action or tactical placement
Fate/Grand Order Readers who value a large, text-heavy story Turn-based party construction Prioritizes narrative scale and long-term roster planning Its presentation is much closer to a visual novel than an action game

These are editorial fits, not a claim that one title is objectively the best. Your choice should follow the column that describes the activity you actually want to repeat every day.

What “like” can mean in a gacha game

The three reference games cover different reasons people stay with a live-service RPG. Zenless Zone Zero is the action reference: GameSpot describes it as skill- and timing-based, with flexible team building. Blue Archive is an anime RPG in which players summon students and build a squad for strategic battles; Nexon summarizes that invitation as, “Summon students through the gacha system and build a squad for your playstyle.” Summoners War is best treated here as the collection-and-team-progression reference, because a current official feature page detailed enough to support a precise systems comparison was not available.

That means “similar” needs to be split into separate questions:

  • Do you want to control characters in real time? Look first at Wuthering Waves.
  • Do you want to solve stages through composition and placement? Arknights is the clearest fit.
  • Do you want a roster whose value comes from turn order, roles and upgrades? Honkai: Star Rail is the most direct recommendation.
  • Do you want collecting attached to a shooter presentation? Nikke: Goddess of Victory changes the combat viewpoint without abandoning the collection loop.
  • Do you want the story to occupy more of your attention than the battles? Fate/Grand Order is the strongest match.

Gacha systems are continuously revised. Banners, rates, pity rules, upgrade materials, stamina limits, event schedules and duplicate-investment requirements can change by version and region. Use the comparisons below to choose a starting point, then read the current in-game notices before spending resources.

Wuthering Waves: the closest action-oriented alternative

Why it fits Zenless Zone Zero fans

Wuthering Waves is the most natural first download if what you love about Zenless Zone Zero is the physical feel of combat. The recommendation is based on the shared priority of real-time action, dodging and active character control, not on identical systems or story setting. You remain engaged with encounters instead of selecting a command and waiting for a turn to resolve.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

It also suits players who want exploration to be a substantial part of the routine. If you enjoy moving through a world between fights, discovering activities and deciding when to engage, this provides a different rhythm from a tightly staged urban action game. That makes it a good bridge for a player who wants the responsiveness of Zenless Zone Zero but more room to roam.

Where the experience diverges

Real-time action can demand more attention than a tactical or turn-based game. Dodging, timing and switching characters are active decisions, so a short session may still require uninterrupted focus. Exploration can also create a larger list of objectives than a stage-based schedule. Players who want quick, predictable daily tasks should check the current stamina, activity and event rules before committing.

Choose it if

  • Your priority is manual control rather than auto-battle.
  • You want dodging and movement to matter during encounters.
  • You would rather explore than spend every session in discrete stages.
  • You can give a live-service game focused attention while playing.

Arknights: the tactical answer to squad-building

Why it fits Blue Archive fans

Arknights is the strongest recommendation when the satisfying part of Blue Archive is making a squad work under constraints. Its defining contrast with action games is tactical placement: you decide where units belong, watch the encounter develop, and pause to rethink the plan. The challenge is less about reflexes and more about reading a stage, assigning roles and responding to threats in the right order.

That makes every new roster addition a planning tool rather than merely a higher number. A character can matter because of a particular role, timing window or positional solution. Players who enjoy asking “which combination solves this stage?” will find a closer intellectual match here than in a purely cinematic action title.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Where the experience diverges

Arknights does not reproduce Zenless Zone Zero’s timing-based action. You will not be testing a dodge at the same speed or controlling a character through a combo. It can also feel demanding in a different way: a failed attempt may be caused by deployment order, lane coverage or timing rather than insufficient reflexes. If you prefer immediate movement and spectacle, begin with Wuthering Waves instead.

Choose it if

  • You enjoy pausing to inspect a problem before committing to a move.
  • Stage composition and positioning are more appealing than direct control.
  • You like a roster whose value depends on solving different encounter types.
  • You want strategic battles that can be revisited and refined.

Honkai: Star Rail: deliberate team building and a guided campaign

Why it fits Summoners War players

Honkai: Star Rail is the best all-round recommendation for someone whose main attraction to Summoners War is building and improving teams. Its combat is turn-based, so you can evaluate the current state of a fight, select a command and think about how characters work together rather than relying on split-second execution. That makes role coverage, progression choices and party composition easy to inspect.

It is also the most structured campaign among these recommendations. A player who likes a clear sequence of story chapters, objectives and progression gates may find it easier to maintain than a game whose appeal depends primarily on free exploration. The structure gives you a visible reason to develop the roster while still leaving room for optimization.

Where the experience diverges

The trade-off is obvious: this is not a real-time action game. You will not get Zenless Zone Zero’s dodge timing or Wuthering Waves’ movement-focused encounters. If your enjoyment comes from physically executing a sequence, turn-based commands may feel slower. Conversely, players who find action games tiring may appreciate being able to make decisions without racing the clock.

Choose it if

  • You enjoy upgrading a roster for different challenges.
  • You prefer a campaign with a strong sense of order and forward momentum.
  • You want to think through a turn instead of reacting in real time.

Nikke: Goddess of Victory: a shooter built around character collection

Why it fits the collection-and-story audience

Nikke: Goddess of Victory is the outlier in this group, and that is its strength. It combines a story-led presentation with shooter combat and a character-collection loop. For a player who likes the act of recruiting a roster but wants the battles to feel visually and mechanically distinct from a standard RPG, it offers a clear alternative.

The recommendation is especially useful for Blue Archive readers who value character-focused drama, and for Summoners War readers who want collecting to remain central while the battle interface changes. The game asks you to follow a narrative while managing a group of characters, rather than treating the story as a thin wrapper around repeated fights.

Where the experience diverges

A shooter format changes what “skill” means. You are engaging with aim, cover or firing decisions as presented by the game, not with Zenless Zone Zero’s melee timing or Arknights’ map placement. If you want exploration, tactical lanes or traditional turn order, this will not be a substitute. It is better understood as a different route to the same broad desire: collect characters, develop a team and see that team used in a continuing story.

Choose it if

  • You want the collection loop attached to a shooter presentation.
  • Story scenes and character identity are major reasons you play.
  • You are comfortable learning a combat viewpoint that is neither action RPG nor tactics game.

Fate/Grand Order: the story-first, turn-based choice

Why it fits readers who stay for the narrative

Fate/Grand Order is the best match when the writing is the product you care about most. It is built around a long-running, text-heavy story and turn-based party construction. That places narrative reading, character conversations and campaign continuity ahead of the immediate physicality that defines Zenless Zone Zero.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Its party-building appeal comes from deciding which collected characters belong together for a particular encounter. The pace gives you time to consider commands and composition, while the extensive text gives the roster a reason to exist beyond combat statistics. A reader who treats a gacha game as an ongoing serial story may value that emphasis more than a faster action loop.

Where the experience diverges

This is the least suitable recommendation for someone seeking exploration or reflex-driven battles. Long reading sections are a feature, not an interruption, so it can be a poor fit if you mainly want short combat sessions. The age and length of a continuing story can also make the starting experience feel different from a newly launched campaign; check the current onboarding and event schedule in your region.

Choose it if

  • You want a substantial, text-led campaign.
  • Turn-based party construction is more important than real-time control.
  • You are willing to read through story chapters rather than skip directly to battles.

Use the reference games to identify your priority

If Zenless Zone Zero is your starting point

Ask whether your favorite part is the timing-based action or the urban presentation. Choose Wuthering Waves when the combat itself is the priority. Choose Nikke: Goddess of Victory only if you are willing to exchange melee action for a shooter while keeping a story-and-collection structure. If neither sounds right, Arknights and Honkai: Star Rail are deliberate changes of pace rather than substitutes for the action loop.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If Blue Archive is your starting point

Separate the strategic squad play from the school-and-military character drama. Arknights is the closest tactical follow-up. Nikke: Goddess of Victory preserves the idea that characters and story belong together, but moves it into a shooter format. Fate/Grand Order is the better direction if the reading and character-story side matters more than stage tactics.

If Summoners War is your starting point

Focus on what you do between summons: compare roles, invest upgrade materials, test a composition or simply collect favorites. Honkai: Star Rail is the clearest turn-based recommendation. Arknights suits players who want roster decisions to solve stages. Because current official documentation for Summoners War was not detailed enough here to establish exact modes or rates, do not assume that a familiar term means the same thing in another game.

Time commitment: choose a routine you can sustain

Manual action, tactical planning, turn-based commands and story reading consume attention in different ways. A game with short battles can still require frequent logins if events and stamina are active; a game with a long campaign can be easier to manage if you prefer fewer, longer sessions. Before starting, answer these questions:

  1. How much uninterrupted time do you have? If you often play while distracted, a reflex-heavy action game may be a poor fit.
  2. Do you want to make every battle decision? Look for the title whose core format you enjoy, then check its current auto or sweep options rather than assuming they exist.
  3. Will you read the story? Fate/Grand Order and story-led alternatives deliver less value if you routinely skip text.
  4. Can you maintain more than one roster? Running several live-service games multiplies upgrade materials, event calendars and daily tasks.

When comparing schedules, distinguish permanent systems from temporary events. A limited-time banner or campaign can change the amount of attention required for a month without representing the normal routine.

Platform and access checks

Zenless Zone Zero’s announced support

HoYoverse’s Version 3.3 announcement says Zenless Zone Zero is scheduled to support PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PC, iOS, Android and Steam when the update launches on October 21, 2026. That is the clearest current platform statement in the available material, but platform access can still vary by region, account system and storefront. Check the listing for your country before assuming cross-device progress or cloud availability.

Checking another game

Use the title’s current official store listing or in-game support page for platform, account-linking and maintenance information. Do not infer support from a review written for an earlier version. A mobile-first release may have a PC client in one region and not another, and console availability can arrive later than mobile or PC access.

Progression, duplicates and spending decisions

All of these games use collection and progression as a reason to keep playing, but the practical value of a new pull depends on the current rules. Before spending currency, read the banner details for:

  • the featured period and end time in your region;
  • the stated probability and any guarantee or pity conditions;
  • whether progress carries to a future banner;
  • what duplicates provide and whether duplicate investment is required for a character’s intended role;
  • which upgrade materials are limited by stamina, events or weekly activities;
  • refund, account-linking and platform restrictions that affect purchases.

There is no reliable cross-game spending ranking in the available evidence. “Best value” therefore depends on your own stopping rule: set a monthly limit, decide which characters or roles you actually need and avoid treating a temporary banner as proof that your account is incomplete.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A practical decision process

  1. Pick the combat family. Choose real-time action for Wuthering Waves, tactical placement for Arknights, turn-based commands for Honkai: Star Rail or Fate/Grand Order, or shooter combat for Nikke: Goddess of Victory.
  2. Pick the presentation. Decide whether you want action-adventure, strategic character drama, a structured campaign, a story-led shooter or a long-form text narrative.
  3. Set a time ceiling. Decide how many minutes and how many login days you can sustain before you install anything.
  4. Check access in your region. Confirm device support, storefront availability, account linking and cloud or console support where relevant.
  5. Read the current notices. Verify banners, rates, stamina, auto or sweep rules and event dates in the live client.
  6. Start one game first. Give yourself enough time to learn its progression before adding another daily schedule.

What not to assume from a comparison

  • A similar genre label does not mean similar controls. Turn-based, tactical and real-time games reward different habits.
  • A large roster does not guarantee flexible team building; the useful question is whether the current content gives those characters distinct jobs.
  • A story description does not establish its length, skip options or event cadence. Those are version-sensitive.
  • Platform support is not the same as cross-save support. Confirm account and progression transfer separately.
  • A guide’s pull-rate or pity explanation can become obsolete after a system change. Use the current banner notice.

Bottom line

For the nearest action substitute, begin with Wuthering Waves. For the deepest tactical contrast, choose Arknights. For a controlled, turn-based progression game, choose Honkai: Star Rail. Pick Nikke: Goddess of Victory when the shooter-and-story combination is the point, and Fate/Grand Order when you want the narrative to dominate your time. The right choice is the one whose combat format and daily routine you will still enjoy after the novelty of the first summons fades.
