The best free route is OBS Studio on a computer you already own. OBS is free, but the setup is not hands-off: your computer, power, internet connection, and OBS must keep running for the stream to stay live. If you want the stream to continue with your computer off, that requires a cloud service; the available evidence does not establish a permanent free plan for 24/7 streaming.
What “free” means for a 24/7 stream
OBS is free software that sends a stream directly from your computer to YouTube; OBS does not provide streaming servers. That makes it the lowest-cash-cost option if you already have a suitable computer and internet service. It still depends on your local setup, so a power cut, computer restart, OBS crash, or lost connection can interrupt the broadcast. OBS’s official Help Portal describes its free, open-source status and direct-connection model.
A cloud service shifts the streaming work off your computer, but “free” offers need close inspection: check the maximum duration, recurring price after any introductory allowance, storage or upload requirements, restart behavior, and what happens when a stream disconnects. The available provider details do not establish a permanent free 24/7 plan or enough evidence to rank services by uptime, support, or long-term value.
Options for keeping a YouTube relaxation stream running
| Option | Cost indicated | What must stay running | Main constraint |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | First day free, no card; see pricing for ongoing plans. | StreamNeo’s cloud service, not your personal computer. | It is a paid cloud service after the free first day, not a permanent free plan. |
| OBS on a computer you already own | OBS software is free. | Computer, OBS, power, and a working internet connection. | Local equipment and connection are dependencies; no minimum hardware specification is established here. |
| OneStream Live 24/7 workflow | Its 24/7 feature requires Enterprise. | The provider’s cloud service rather than your computer. | OneStream Live states a maximum 30-day duration for this workflow; this is a vendor-specific limit, not a YouTube rule. Details are from its page last updated September 3, 2026. |
| Looping Stream offer | The provider result reviewed advertises $0 for seven days and 24 total hours. | The provider’s cloud service rather than your computer. | The advertised allowance is limited, not evidence of unlimited free 24/7 use. Confirm current terms and pricing with the provider. |
For cloud options, compare stream duration, recurring cost, upload and storage rules, recovery after a disconnect, scheduling controls, and archive behavior. The cited provider information does not support conclusions about comparative reliability.

Set up a relaxation stream with OBS
1. Make sure your YouTube channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming before your planned start. Check YouTube’s current live-streaming eligibility and getting-started guidance for the channel’s status and available methods.
2. Prepare a video and audio you have rights to use
Use original relaxation visuals and audio, or material licensed specifically for the intended YouTube live stream and any archive. Keep the license and permission records. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can trigger a warning, replacement image, interruption, or termination. For licensed third-party content, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license by itself may not prevent a live interruption. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and its livestream terms and conditions.

3. Get the YouTube stream URL and key
In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live and choose the encoder workflow. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain how to connect an encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, send it to viewers, or put it in a public screenshot. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
4. Connect OBS and check the stream before relying on it
- Open OBS Studio. In Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service. If the available connection method asks for a stream key, paste the key from YouTube Studio. Keep it private.
- Set up the scene. Add the video source for your relaxation recording and confirm that both picture and audio play as intended. If you are looping a file, check the source’s loop setting and make sure the file itself repeats smoothly.
- Choose output settings your connection can sustain. The available sources do not establish a universal resolution, bitrate, keyframe interval, or hardware target for every computer and internet connection. Start with settings supported by your video and upload connection, then monitor OBS’s status. Do not raise bitrate beyond what the connection can reliably upload.
- Start a private or unlisted test first. In OBS, select Start Streaming, then confirm in YouTube Studio that the incoming video and audio look and sound right before making the stream public. Verify that the intended stream is selected and that the loop continues.
- Keep the computer available. Prevent sleep or automatic shutdown for the planned broadcast, keep OBS open, and use a stable power and network connection. Check the stream periodically; a local OBS setup has no cloud host to continue the broadcast if the computer or connection goes offline.
OBS notes that rising dropped frames can indicate an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. Lower the bitrate or improve the connection if dropped frames continue; do not assume a single setting will work for every setup. OBS’s Help Portal covers its operation and troubleshooting.

Plan around YouTube’s live-stream and archive limits
YouTube says first-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours; this is a setup delay, not an uptime promise. YouTube’s archive guidance says streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A continuous 24/7 session is therefore not a guaranteed complete replay. If you need an archive, plan shorter sessions and/or make a local recording, and test your exact workflow first. YouTube recommends keeping a local backup recording in its encoder guidance.
Do not assume YouTube will keep an unlimited number of streams active on a channel. Check its current live-streaming guidance for channel and active-stream limits before scheduling multiple broadcasts.

Protect monetization eligibility as well as the stream
A live stream being technically continuous does not guarantee monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policy says content should be original and authentic, and that repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible under its inauthentic-content policy. The policy page notes a clarification dated July 15, 2025, and says the reused-content policy did not change. Review the current YouTube channel monetization policies; do not treat looping, duration, watch time, or a cloud service as a monetization guarantee.
Troubleshooting a relaxation stream
- YouTube does not receive a signal: Confirm that OBS is using the intended YouTube service and current stream key, that live streaming is enabled on the channel, and that the computer is online. Replace an exposed or invalid key in YouTube Studio, then update OBS.
- The stream drops frames or stalls: OBS identifies an unstable connection or unsustainable bitrate as common indicators. Reduce bitrate, use a more stable upload connection, and check OBS’s dropped-frame status before restarting a long session.
- The video or audio stops repeating: Check that the media source is still available and that looping is enabled for that source. Test the full repeat before going live; a playlist or file that ends without a repeat setting will not create an endless broadcast.
- The live stream is interrupted after a copyright match: Stop or replace the flagged material. Use original content or content cleared for YouTube live and archived use; if licensed third-party content is involved, contact the owner about the Content ID allowlist and retain your documentation.
- The computer shuts down or loses internet: OBS cannot continue sending from an unavailable computer or connection. Restore power or connectivity, reopen OBS if needed, and check YouTube Studio before restarting. If you need the stream to continue without your home computer, use a cloud-hosted option instead.
- A 24/7 replay is incomplete or missing: YouTube may not capture streams longer than 12 hours. Use shorter sessions or a local recording if a replay matters, and verify the archive workflow in advance.
