OBS Studio is the best free software for rotating prerecorded yoga sessions in a YouTube live stream. For several recordings, install VLC and use OBS’s VLC Video source as a playlist; leave Loop Playlist on to restart the rotation. For one recording, OBS’s built-in Media Source has a Loop control.

Install VLC if you plan to play more than one recording through a playlist. Match the software architectures: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.

In OBS, create a scene for the yoga stream. Under Sources, add a VLC Video source, then add the session files to its playlist in the order you want them to play. Use clear filenames and check the order before going live.

Keep Loop Playlist enabled so playback returns to the first session when it reaches the end. Turn on Shuffle Playlist only if sessions should play in randomized order. For a class schedule where a particular sequence matters, leave shuffle off.

For a single video instead, add a Media Source, select the local file, and enable Loop. OBS documents Media Source support for common formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, TS, and WebM.

Configure the YouTube live event and OBS’s stream destination using the current controls available to your channel. Preview the scene and check both picture and sound in YouTube Studio before sharing the broadcast. YouTube channel eligibility and account-specific settings can vary; check your own channel’s live controls rather than assuming every account has identical access.

Make the playlist fit the viewing experience

Choose ordered playback when session progression matters, such as a warm-up followed by a longer practice and a cooldown. Use shuffle only when any session can reasonably follow any other session.

Check that each recording has usable audio and video throughout, including at its beginning and end. Preview transitions between files so a sudden change in sound level or a blank frame does not surprise viewers.

Do a private or otherwise limited preview before promoting the live link. Confirm the intended file is playing, the playlist advances, and the loop behaves as expected.

Set up YouTube’s live event
OBS handles local playback and encoding, but YouTube must also accept a live broadcast from your channel. Create or configure the live event in YouTube Studio, connect OBS to the stream destination using the controls YouTube currently shows for your account, then verify the incoming preview before making the event public or sharing its link. Exact stream settings and account requirements are not established here, so follow the current guidance shown in YouTube Studio rather than relying on a fixed bitrate or resolution recommendation.

Check rights before streaming yoga videos
Use recordings and music you own or are authorized to stream. YouTube says all live streams are scanned for third-party content; it may replace a stream with a placeholder, interrupt it temporarily, or terminate it. Even when material is licensed, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams and confirm that any license covers live streaming on your channel.
A recording being available online, or a song being included in a class video, does not by itself establish that you have the rights needed for a live broadcast. Check both the video and every audio track before building the playlist.
Common problems and what to check

| YouTube interrupts or replaces the live video | Check for third-party video or audio and confirm your streaming rights. Licensed material may still require the rights holder to allowlist your channel in Content ID. |
| YouTube does not show an expected live preview | Check the live event and connection details in YouTube Studio, then confirm OBS is sending the intended scene to the destination shown for your channel. |
