Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOBS Studio is the best-supported free starting point for churches in India that want to send a video playlist or live service production to YouTube Live. It is free to use, but it is not an always-on hosting service: a local computer, power, stable internet and a working encoder feed must stay available for the broadcast to continue.
If unattended playback matters more than running everything locally, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key and go live. It plays uploaded videos to YouTube, not a camera feed.

Which free playlist software should a church use?
Start with OBS Studio if you want a no-cost encoder and production tool running on a church computer. YouTube lists OBS among its encoder options, and the OBS Project says, “OBS is free for anyone to use, for any reason.” OBS also has no watermark or usage limitations.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
“Free” refers to the software. The computer, electricity, internet connection and volunteer time needed to operate and monitor a local stream may still cost money. OBS sends a feed to YouTube; it does not itself create or host a YouTube Live event, keep a computer awake, or guarantee that a failed connection will recover.

What you need for a continuous church stream
A playlist is not the whole broadcast
A playlist determines what media plays next. For a local OBS stream to remain live, the computer must keep running, power and internet must remain available, and OBS must continue sending its feed. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that sends a digital video feed; connecting it to YouTube involves entering the platform’s stream URL and stream key in the encoder.
Plan for the actual service production
Keep OBS scenes as simple as your service requires. A single prerecorded video has different production needs from a service using several cameras, microphones, graphics and live scene changes. YouTube says encoders can work with external audio and video hardware for more advanced productions; the equipment needed depends on what the church already owns and wants to produce.

- Cellular Bonding with NDI & SRT: Combine up to 5 network connections (2x USB modems, 1x 4G LTE, 1x Wi-Fi, 1x Ethernet) for rock-solid streaming. NDI/SRT enables low-latency remote production (Additional charges apply)
- ISO Recordings: Capture and save all video inputs separately with customizable resolution, frame rate, and bitrate, enabling better post-production control and quality
Check that the church’s upload connection can sustain the chosen stream settings, with room for normal fluctuations. OBS’s help page notes that increasing dropped frames can indicate an unstable connection or one that cannot sustain the configured bitrate. If the connection cannot reliably support the quality you want, lower the settings rather than assuming the playlist will make the feed stable.

Set up OBS and connect it to YouTube Live
- Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Complete this well before the service; once live streaming is enabled, a stream can go live instantly.
- Create or schedule the YouTube Live event. In YouTube Studio, create a stream or schedule an upcoming one. Scheduling gives you an event to share in advance and can let viewers set reminders. A playlist in OBS does not replace this YouTube event setup.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it beyond the people who need to configure the encoder. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- Enter YouTube’s connection details in OBS. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and connect your account or use the stream-key option if that is your workflow. Use the server URL and key supplied by YouTube when configuring a custom connection. Do not use another channel’s key.
- Add and arrange the service media. Add the video or other required sources to an OBS scene, and create any scenes needed for cameras, slides or transitions. Confirm that the playlist order and audio are right. A playlist advancing to its next item does not restart OBS or repair a lost network connection.
- Run a rehearsal before the service. Test the stream key midweek, then do a private or unlisted run-through with a remote viewer. Check sound, scene changes and the viewer’s experience, and watch the recording back. These are practical recommendations from TajiCast’s church-streaming guide, not guarantees of a successful broadcast.
- Start the event and monitor the feed. Start streaming in OBS and confirm the incoming feed and event status in YouTube Studio before sharing the live link. Keep someone responsible for watching the stream and responding if the computer, connection or audio fails.
Choose stream quality around your upload connection
There is no single resolution or bitrate that is right for every church connection and production. Choose settings that the church’s real upload capacity can sustain, then test them during a rehearsal. TajiCast’s church-streaming guide recommends stepping down to 720p if 1080p is unstable and leaving bitrate headroom; this is practitioner guidance, not a YouTube guarantee.

- Free Built-in Features: Includes web URL overlay, video cropping, instant replay, and auto-switching, all standard to enhance professionalism and audience engagement at no additional cost
- If dropped frames rise during a test, check whether the upload connection is unstable or the configured bitrate is too demanding.
- If a higher resolution makes the broadcast unreliable, try a lower resolution and repeat the test rather than risking the service on unverified settings.
- Test audio as well as video. A remote viewer can catch muted microphones, wrong source selection or abrupt level changes that may not be obvious at the encoder computer.
Plan the broadcast archive and replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not rely on a complete automatic archive for an indefinitely long broadcast. If a dependable replay matters, plan a shorter broadcast or make a separate local recording and verify that it is being saved.
Common problems and what to check
OBS connects, but YouTube does not show a live feed
Confirm that the event is set up in YouTube Studio, that you are using the correct stream URL and key for that channel, and that OBS is actually sending. If live streaming was only just enabled, allow for YouTube’s stated first-time activation period of up to 24 hours.

The stream drops frames or becomes unstable
OBS identifies rising dropped frames as a possible sign of an unstable connection or insufficient capacity for the configured bitrate. Check the connection and reduce the stream settings if needed; then test again before the service.
The playlist continues locally, but viewers lose the stream
Playlist playback does not reconnect a failed encoder feed. Check power, the computer, internet access and OBS’s connection, then confirm the event status in YouTube Studio. A local workflow needs someone or something able to notice and address such failures.

The church wants a complete replay of a long broadcast
For a stream lasting 12 hours or more, YouTube’s stated automatic-archive rule for streams under 12 hours does not establish that the full broadcast will be archived. Use a separate recording or divide the broadcast into shorter events if a reliable replay is required.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Copyright and channel readiness
Before streaming music, recorded services or other third-party material, make sure the church has the rights or permissions needed for the intended YouTube use. A successful OBS connection does not establish that media is cleared for broadcast. Review YouTube’s current requirements and the church’s permissions before the event, especially when a playlist includes material the church did not create.
When cloud playback may fit better
OBS is a practical free choice when the church wants local control and can keep a computer and connection operating. If the priority is unattended playback without leaving a dedicated computer running at the church, consider a cloud playout service. YouTube’s encoder guidance lists services that describe 24/7 prerecorded streaming, but that listing does not establish a provider’s price, India availability, uptime or partner terms. Check those details directly before choosing one.
