Best Free Android Apps for Playing Prerecorded Videos on YouTube Live

PRISM Live Studio is the best-documented free Android option for streaming prerecorded videos from your phone to YouTube Live. It lets you build a playlist from locally stored videos and use that playlist during a livestream. However, PRISM’s official guide does not confirm that the playlist repeats continuously, so treat it as playlist playback—not a verified unattended loop.

Which Android apps can play prerecorded video on YouTube Live?

The key distinction is whether an app can send a local video into a live broadcast, not just stream a camera. The available documentation points to PRISM Live Studio as the clearest fit for local video playlists. Larix Broadcaster is a general mobile encoder alternative, but the reviewed sources do not establish that it offers a local-video playlist workflow or repeat playback.

PRISM Live Studio Mobile Its official guide documents building a playlist from videos on the device and using it during a live stream. Continuous repeat is not confirmed. YouTube is a supported destination. The cited product and guide pages do not state a free-tier restriction relevant to this workflow. Check the current app listing for availability and terms.
Larix Broadcaster The reviewed listing does not establish local-video playlist playback or looping. YouTube lists Larix as a mobile encoder option; the Android listing describes RTMP support. The Google Play listing says the free version includes a watermark and time limit; it lists Premium at $9.99/month when accessed. Check the listing for current terms and availability.

YouTube lists both PRISM Live Studio and Larix Broadcaster among mobile encoder options: YouTube’s encoder guide. PRISM’s own mobile page describes its Android app and YouTube streaming: PRISM Live Studio Mobile.

How to use PRISM Live Studio with a video playlist

  1. Install PRISM Live Studio on Android and prepare the video files in your phone’s media library. The PRISM Mobile getting-started guide identifies video playlists as a My Studio source and YouTube as a streaming destination.
  2. Open My Studio and add videos from the device’s media library to a video playlist. Arrange the videos in the order you want. PRISM’s Using Media Playlist guide says the playlist is saved as one item and can be reused.
  3. Choose YouTube as the streaming destination and complete the connection or stream setup shown in the app. Menu labels can change between app versions, so follow the current on-screen prompts rather than relying on an older button name.
  4. Select the saved video playlist as the playback source, check the preview and audio, then start the live broadcast. PRISM notes that turning off the microphone can leave only the video or music playback audio in the live mix.

Know the source limit

PRISM’s source usage guide says only one playback source type can be used at a time among music, video, music playlist, video playlist, and image playlist. On Android My Studio, it lists one video or one video playlist source. See the PRISM source usage limit guide.

Background playback on Android

If you need PRISM to continue broadcasting while you use another app or the display is not in the foreground, its Android guide says to enable the background-broadcast setting and allow display over other apps. Follow PRISM’s background broadcasting guide. These settings do not guarantee an uninterrupted stream: battery management, heat, Android behavior, and network conditions can still interrupt mobile broadcasting.

Does PRISM loop videos continuously?

The official playlist guide documents selecting and ordering videos, saving the playlist, and using it during a live stream. It does not say that the playlist automatically repeats after the final video. If continuous repetition is essential, test the current app version with a private or unlisted broadcast before relying on it for a long public stream. Do not assume that a playlist is a loop unless the app’s current controls or documentation explicitly confirm repeat behavior.

When should you choose Larix instead?

Larix is worth considering if you need a mobile RTMP encoder and are comfortable configuring an encoder connection. YouTube includes it in its mobile encoder list, and its Android listing describes RTMP support. But on the evidence available here, Larix is not as directly documented for this particular task: local prerecorded-video playlists and continuous looping are not established. Its Play Store listing also says the free version carries a watermark and time limit, with a $9.99/month Premium plan shown when accessed: Larix Broadcaster on Google Play.
