BRUNNER CLS-E is the specialist alternative for cockpit builders who want trim, autopilot, turbulence and stall effects through a Windows control layer. If you want a lower-cost, widely supported setup, the conventional Logitech G Flight Yoke System includes a yoke and throttle quadrant, while Honeycomb ALPHA XPC is the better starting point for a modular yoke, throttle and pedal ecosystem.
Those are different categories. MOZA and BRUNNER use motors to generate resistance and motion; Logitech and Honeycomb yokes provide physical controls without active motorized feedback. The right purchase depends on whether you want the simulator to communicate aerodynamic forces through the yoke, or simply need reliable axes and switches for a home cockpit.

What force feedback adds to a flight simulator
Active force feedback versus a conventional yoke
A conventional yoke reports your position to the simulator but does not generate aerodynamic force. Springs, friction and the mechanism’s own centering provide the feel. When the simulator changes airspeed, trim or stall state, the physical yoke normally stays where you left it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesAn active force-feedback yoke uses motors to apply a commanded force. The software can increase resistance as speed rises, create a stall buffet, alter centering after trim changes, or make the controls feel different on the ground and in flight. A motorized system can therefore convey information that would otherwise require instruments or visual cues.

Force figures from different manufacturers are not directly interchangeable. Pitch force is expressed in newtons (N), while roll torque is expressed in newton-metres (N·m). A high pitch-force number does not mean the system has an equivalent roll response, and a peak value is not the same as a continuously sustainable value.
What telemetry, trim and autopilot actually do
The simulator must send aircraft-state data to the yoke software. In a supported native integration, the simulator provides telemetry directly to the device driver or control application. In BRUNNER’s case, CLS2Sim is the Windows layer that turns simulator data into engine, ground, turbulence, trim, autopilot and stall effects.
That does not mean every aircraft will physically move the yoke whenever autopilot is engaged. The aircraft model, simulator output and integration determine which force or position commands are available. A system may increase resistance, change the center point or reproduce trim forces without rotating the yoke through the same motion shown on screen. Check the aircraft and simulator profile before assuming that an autopilot servo will drive the hardware.

MOZA AY210: the clearest premium choice for current PC simulators
What you get
The AY210 is a force-feedback base rather than an all-in-one yoke. MOZA documents a dual-motor design, a 15-bit magnetic encoder and a 1000 Hz USB refresh rate. The base provides 13 programmable front-panel switches and accepts MOZA yoke-series handles, so you need to select a compatible handle if one is not already included.
Its published 9 N·m sustained roll torque, 210 N maximum pitch force and 150 mm pitch travel place it firmly in the active-feedback category. The 180° roll range gives more physical movement than a small desktop controller, which is useful when you fly aircraft that require precise attitude corrections rather than constant button input.

Simulator compatibility
MOZA states that the AY210 receives native telemetry force feedback in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, X-Plane 12 and DCS World without third-party plug-ins. That is the most straightforward route for a user who wants one device to cover current civilian and military simulators. Native support still depends on the aircraft and simulator exposing the relevant telemetry; a generic aircraft profile may not produce every effect.

Mounting and setup
- Mount the base to a rigid desk plate or cockpit frame. Active motors can transmit substantial force, so a flexible folding table will reduce precision and may allow the base to move.
- Attach a compatible MOZA yoke-series handle and connect the base directly to the PC by USB.
- Install the current MOZA device software and firmware, then verify that the encoder, switches and force-feedback test respond before opening the simulator.
- In the simulator’s controls options, assign pitch and roll to the AY210 axes and calibrate the center and end stops. Remove duplicate pitch or roll assignments from another controller.
- Start with moderate force and damping. Increase resistance only after confirming that the yoke returns to center correctly and that the mounting hardware remains secure.
Who should buy it
Choose the AY210 when measurable active force, long travel and broad current-simulator coverage matter more than a bundled throttle. It is also the better fit for a user who wants to change handles or build a cockpit around a motorized base. The base-only price means the final cost depends on the handle and mounting hardware you choose.
BRUNNER CLS-E: specialist force effects and cockpit integration
CLS-E NG
The CLS-E NG is the smaller, desktop-oriented BRUNNER model. Its factsheet lists 40 N peak pitch force, 1.7 N·m roll torque and 90 mm pitch travel, plus USB and CAN connectivity and contactless high-resolution position sensing. The Beechcraft-style handle includes programmable controls, so it can serve as both a primary flight axis and a compact switch panel.
Its defining feature is not just motor strength but the CLS2Sim environment. BRUNNER lists simulated engine, ground, turbulence, real trim, autopilot and stall effects. The software supports X-Plane, FSX, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Prepar3D. The cited compatibility does not establish Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 support, so a 2024 buyer should confirm an updated CLS2Sim release before ordering.
CLS-E MK II
The MK II is the larger model in the cited BRUNNER range. It combines a Beechcraft-style wheel with a programmable switch plate, an eight-direction hat switch, a touch display and contactless position feedback. Its travel is longer than the NG’s, making it the model to investigate when a cockpit installation and display are more important than a small desktop footprint.

Windows and installation implications
BRUNNER describes desktop or cockpit use and a two-year warranty. CLS2Sim requires Windows 7 or newer. Plan for a dedicated Windows machine or Windows partition if your simulator runs elsewhere, and leave room for the software’s device and simulator connections when wiring the cockpit.
Conventional yokes: Logitech and Honeycomb
Logitech G Flight Yoke System
The Logitech system is the practical entry point when you want a yoke and throttle in one purchase. It has five total axes, a stainless-steel elevator and aileron shaft, and 25 programmable buttons and switch positions. Microsoft lists it as an entry-level yoke and gives an RRP of $169.99 in its 2025 guide.
It is not force feedback. The shaft and spring mechanism do not reproduce trim loads, stalls or autopilot servo movement. Its advantages are a complete control set, familiar PC simulator support and a lower initial cost. Logitech documents support for Microsoft Flight Simulator, FSX, X-Plane and Prepar3D with the required software or plug-in setup.
Honeycomb ALPHA XPC
Microsoft places the ALPHA XPC in the mid-range category and lists an RRP of $370.58 in the 2025 guide. Honeycomb’s storefront presents the Alpha yoke alongside Bravo throttle quadrants and Charlie rudder pedals, so it suits a buyer who wants to add modules over time rather than replace a bundled unit.
Like the Logitech system, the Alpha is conventional rather than motorized. Its appeal is the ecosystem and the ability to choose a separate throttle and pedal layout. Confirm current simulator profiles and USB requirements before mixing hardware from several generations.
Which system fits your simulator?
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
MOZA is the only option in this comparison with explicit native telemetry force-feedback support for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. A Logitech or Honeycomb yoke can still provide pitch and roll input, but it will not create active aerodynamic forces. The cited BRUNNER information names Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, not 2024, so compatibility should be verified rather than assumed.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
MOZA and BRUNNER both have documented paths. MOZA uses native telemetry, while BRUNNER uses CLS2Sim. Logitech is listed as a supported conventional option, and Honeycomb is listed as a mid-range yoke. If you want trim and autopilot effects rather than just axis input, the two motorized systems are the relevant choices.
X-Plane 12
MOZA explicitly lists X-Plane 12 native telemetry support. BRUNNER lists X-Plane support through CLS2Sim, but the cited material does not specify a version, so check the current CLS2Sim compatibility list for X-Plane 12. Logitech supports X-Plane with the appropriate software setup; Honeycomb support depends on the current simulator profile.
DCS World, FSX and Prepar3D
MOZA lists DCS World, but the cited AY210 support statement does not list FSX or Prepar3D. BRUNNER lists X-Plane, FSX, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Prepar3D through CLS2Sim. Logitech lists all four simulator families named in its product information. Choose based on the simulator you actually fly, not on the control’s label or appearance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do you need a throttle quadrant and rudder pedals?
Throttle
A yoke controls pitch and roll only. You can map throttle to keyboard keys, a gamepad axis or a separate lever, but a dedicated quadrant gives finer power changes and keeps your hands on the cockpit controls. The Logitech package includes a throttle quadrant, which is why it can be a sensible first purchase despite lacking force feedback. With MOZA or BRUNNER, budget separately for a throttle unless you already own one.
Rudder pedals
Rudder pedals control yaw and toe brakes. They are not mandatory for basic sightseeing, but they become important for coordinated turns, crosswind landings, taxiing and differential braking. A yoke cannot replace them without compromising those tasks. Honeycomb’s Charlie pedals are the matching ecosystem option; other USB pedals can also work if the simulator recognizes their axes.

Installation and calibration checklist
- Secure the yoke before applying force. Motorized units should be bolted or clamped to a rigid surface; conventional units still need a stable desk edge.
- Connect one controller at a time and install its official driver or configuration software.
- Update firmware only after the device is recognized and keep the computer connected to stable power during the update.
- Open the simulator’s control settings and assign pitch, roll, throttle, rudder and brake axes deliberately. Do not rely on automatic detection if another controller is connected.
- Move each axis through its complete travel and confirm that the on-screen indicator reaches both ends without jitter.
- Set a small dead zone only if the physical center wanders. Excessive dead zone masks useful control movement.
- For active systems, test force with the aircraft parked before flight. Reduce strength if the yoke oscillates, clips at its limits or causes the mount to flex.
- Save a separate profile for each simulator and aircraft type when available. A light aircraft, airliner and combat aircraft can require very different sensitivity and force settings.
Common problems and fixes
The yoke works but has no force
Check that the unit is connected to the correct USB port, the motorized driver is running and force feedback is enabled in the device software. A conventional Logitech or Honeycomb yoke will never produce motorized force because it has no active motor system. With BRUNNER, verify that CLS2Sim is connected to the simulator and that the selected aircraft profile supplies telemetry.

The simulator shows two aircraft moving at once
This is usually a duplicate-axis assignment. Remove pitch and roll bindings from the old controller or create a simulator-specific profile. Test one axis at a time after saving the profile.
Trim feels wrong
Trim effects depend on the aircraft model and the telemetry available to the integration. On BRUNNER, confirm that CLS2Sim’s trim and autopilot effects are enabled for the selected aircraft. On MOZA, use the native integration and check whether the aircraft exposes the relevant force data. A conventional yoke cannot change its physical center through software.
The yoke is too stiff or noisy
Reduce force, damping and friction in the device software, then check that the mount is not twisting. Peak-force specifications describe capability, not a recommended everyday setting. If the physical mechanism binds with the motors disabled, stop using it and inspect the mounting and cabling.
Autopilot disconnects unexpectedly
Check button assignments for duplicate autopilot-disconnect commands and verify that the yoke is not mapped to a switch that toggles the mode. Some aircraft disconnect the autopilot when the pilot applies force; that behavior is part of the aircraft logic, not proof that the yoke is malfunctioning.
How to choose by budget and upgrade path
| Your priority | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest-cost complete yoke and throttle | Logitech G Flight Yoke System | No active force feedback and a smaller upgrade path than a separate modular cockpit. |
| Mid-range conventional yoke with planned expansion | Honeycomb ALPHA XPC | Throttle and pedals are separate purchases; force feedback is not included. |
| Premium active feedback for several current PC simulators | MOZA AY210 | Base, handle and mounting hardware may be separate; PC-only operation. |
| Cockpit installation with detailed force-effect modeling | BRUNNER CLS-E NG | Windows and CLS2Sim are required, and the published simulator list does not establish 2024 support. |
| Display and longer cockpit-style travel | BRUNNER CLS-E MK II | Exact force, travel and price are not stated, so confirm the current specification before committing to a panel design. |
Bottom line
Buy the MOZA AY210 if active force, long travel and native support for MSFS 2020/2024, X-Plane 12 and DCS World are your main requirements. Select the BRUNNER CLS-E NG or MK II when CLS2Sim’s trim, autopilot and turbulence effects, Windows integration or cockpit-focused hardware justify a more specialized installation. Choose Logitech for an inexpensive yoke-and-throttle starting point, or Honeycomb when you want to build a conventional yoke, throttle and pedal ecosystem in stages.
