For a low-cost band, consider the Xiaomi Smart Band 10; for a watch with built-in GPS, the Garmin vívoactive 6 is a better fit. Runners who need advanced training and navigation may prefer the premium Garmin Forerunner 970. The Samsung Galaxy Fit3 is another basic-band option, but confirm phone compatibility for your exact model and region before buying.
These choices cover different needs rather than forming a single ranking: a budget band, a basic band, a midrange GPS watch and a specialist running watch. Current evidence does not support naming six specific models with equally verified pricing and compatibility, so this guide focuses on the four options that can be assessed responsibly.

How to choose a Fitbit alternative
Start with the wearable you will actually keep on your wrist. A narrow band can be comfortable for sleep and everyday activity; a watch offers a larger display and may add GPS, training tools and smartwatch functions. A screenless tracker is another form factor, but the current product evidence here does not establish a specific model to recommend.
- Check phone compatibility. Requirements can vary by exact model and market. Verify support with the manufacturer before purchase.
- Decide whether you need built-in GPS. It records outdoor routes and pace without relying on your phone. If you mainly track steps, indoor workouts or general activity, a device without onboard GPS may be sufficient.
- Compare battery claims with your settings. Always-on display, GPS use and other features can shorten runtime. A reviewer’s observation is not the same as a manufacturer maximum or a guarantee.
- Choose metrics you will use. Steps, heart rate, sleep and workout recording cover common needs. Training load, recovery estimates, maps, notifications, apps and payments add complexity, but more metrics are not automatically more useful.
- Consider total cost and access. Check the current price in your market and whether any features you want require a paid membership. Prices and feature availability can change.
Four Fitbit alternatives with distinct strengths
| Model | Best suited to | GPS | Battery figure in cited coverage | Key trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi Smart Band 10 | Low-cost band-style daily tracking | No built-in GPS | Close to 21 days with always-on display off in Android Authority reviewer testing | Heart-rate readings can vary with fit; global NFC support is missing. |
| Samsung Galaxy Fit3 | Basic band for buyers who confirm phone support | No GPS | Up to 13 days, as listed by TechRadar | TechRadar’s own compatibility information conflicts, so check Samsung support for your region and phone. |
| Garmin vívoactive 6 | Watch-style use with built-in GPS and multi-day battery | Built-in multi-GNSS GPS | 11 days in TechRadar’s comparison table; its review reported more than a week in testing | Single size, no dual-band GPS and an older-generation heart-rate sensor. |
| Garmin Forerunner 970 | Runners seeking advanced training and navigation | Dual-band multi-GNSS | Not stated in the cited Android Authority coverage | Premium-priced specialist watch with a proprietary charger. |
Best low-cost band: Xiaomi Smart Band 10
Android Authority lists the Smart Band 10 at a $49.90 MSRP and identifies it as a budget-friendly tracker. Its review describes more than 150 workout modes, VO₂ max, training load, recovery time, swim tracking and heart-rate broadcasting. Those are substantial tracking features for a band, but it does not have built-in GPS, so outdoor route recording depends on your phone or another device.
#1 Best Overall
- STYLISH DESIGN, VIBRANT DISPLAY: The lightweight aluminum build blends effortless style with workout durability, while the vivid 1.97" AMOLED display keeps your data easy to read, even under bright sunlight.
- ALL-IN-ONE ACTIVITY TRACKING: The Amazfit Bip 6 fitness tracker watch offers 140+ workout modes including HYROX Race and Strength Training, plus personalized AI coaching and 50m water resistance.
- UP TO 14 DAYS BATTERY LIFE: The Amazfit Bip 6 smart watch powers through your training and recovery for up to two weeks at a time - no nightly charging needed.
- ACCURATE GPS TRACKING & NAVIGATION: Stay on course with free downloadable maps and turn-by-turn directions. Support from 5 satellite systems ensures precise tracking of every move and fast GPS connection.
- 24/7 HEALTH MONITORING: The Amazfit Bip 6 smartwatch provides precise, real-time monitoring of heart rate, sleep, blood-oxygen and stress, empowering you with actionable insights to optimize your health and fitness.
Android Authority reported battery life close to 21 days with always-on display off in its reviewer’s testing. Treat that as an upper-end observed result, not a promise: settings and usage affect runtime. The review also cautions that heart-rate accuracy can vary with fit, and notes that global NFC support is missing. (Android Authority, 2026: best fitness trackers of 2026.)
Best basic band if your phone is supported: Samsung Galaxy Fit3
The Galaxy Fit3 is a band-style tracker with an AMOLED display, activity and heart-rate tracking, and workout modes. TechRadar lists battery life of up to 13 days and says the model has no GPS. That makes it more appropriate for general tracking than for runners who want a route recorded directly by the wearable.
Do not rely on a broad compatibility claim without checking your exact phone and market. TechRadar’s guide says Android/iOS in its specifications but also lists “No iPhone compatibility” in its avoid section. Because those statements conflict, verify the Galaxy Fit3 against current Samsung support information for your region before buying. (TechRadar, 2026: best fitness trackers.)

Rank #2
- Easy-to-use running watch monitors heart rate (this is not a medical device) at the wrist and uses GPS to track how far, how fast and where you’ve run.Special Feature:Bluetooth.
- Battery life: up to 2 weeks in smartwatch mode; up to 20 hours in GPS mode
- Plan your race day strategy with the PacePro feature (not compatible with on-device courses), which offers GPS-based pace guidance for a selected course or distance
- Run your best with helpful training tools, including race time predictions and finish time estimates
- Track all the ways you move with built-in activity profiles for running, cycling, track run, virtual run, pool swim, Pilates, HIIT, breathwork and more
Best midrange GPS watch: Garmin vívoactive 6
The vívoactive 6 suits someone ready to move from a slim band to a watch with built-in multi-GNSS GPS. TechRadar lists 11 days of battery life in its comparison table, while its review says the battery lasted beyond a week in testing. These are source-reported figures from different forms of assessment, not a guarantee for every setting or workout pattern.
TechRadar identifies a single size, the lack of dual-band GPS and an older-generation heart-rate sensor as limitations. It is a practical middle ground if built-in route tracking and a watch display matter more than having Garmin’s most advanced GPS setup. (TechRadar, 2026: best fitness trackers.)
Best for serious runners: Garmin Forerunner 970
The Forerunner 970 is a specialist running watch, not a like-for-like budget-band replacement. Android Authority lists a $749.99 MSRP and describes dual-band multi-GNSS, advanced training tools, mapping and route support. It is most compelling if you will use those training and navigation capabilities; for casual steps, sleep and occasional workouts, that depth may be unnecessary.
Rank #3
- Easy-to-use running smartwatch with built-in GPS for pace/distance and wrist-based heart rate; brilliant AMOLED touchscreen display with traditional button controls; lightweight design in 43 mm size
- Up to 11 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and up to 19 hours in GPS mode
- Reach your goals with personalized daily suggested workouts that adapt based on performance and recovery; use Garmin Coach and race adaptive training plans to get workout suggestions for specific events
- 25+ built-in activity profiles include running, cycling, HIIT, strength and more
- As soon as you wake up, get your morning report with an overview of your sleep, recovery and training outlook alongside weather and HRV status (data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked)
Android Authority flags the high price and proprietary charger as drawbacks, and says battery life is weaker than some alternatives without providing a specific figure in the cited coverage. Check the current regional price and charging requirements before deciding. (Android Authority, 2026: best fitness trackers of 2026.)
Which type fits your priorities?
Choose a band for everyday tracking and simplicity
A band is a natural fit if you prioritize a compact form, basic activity tracking and wearing the device throughout the day and night. The Xiaomi option adds a broad set of workout and training metrics at a listed $49.90 MSRP, but lacks built-in GPS. The Galaxy Fit3 is another basic band, provided Samsung confirms compatibility with your phone.
Choose a GPS watch for outdoor routes
If you run, walk or cycle outdoors and want pace and routes recorded without carrying a phone, favor a watch with onboard GPS. The vívoactive 6 offers built-in multi-GNSS according to TechRadar; the Forerunner 970 adds dual-band multi-GNSS and navigation features for runners who need more advanced tools.

Choose a premium running watch only for features you will use
Advanced training metrics and maps can make a specialist watch worthwhile for a committed runner, but they do not make it the best choice for everyone. Match the feature set to your exercise routine and budget rather than buying the most capable device by default.
What this shortlist does not establish
Readers also consider iPhone smartwatches and screenless recovery-oriented trackers, but the cited product coverage does not substantiate a current specific model recommendation for those categories with verified price, compatibility and any subscription requirements. Treat them as separate options to research against your phone and priorities, rather than assuming they are interchangeable with a fitness band or GPS watch. Reader discussion of alternatives includes Garmin, Apple Watch, Samsung, Whoop, Oura, Amazfit, Withings and Polar, but discussion is not product-spec verification.
