Why Street Fighter 6 is the baseline
Street Fighter 6 sets a high accessibility standard because it gives beginners several ways to enter the genre. Modern controls reduce the execution burden, so a new player can concentrate on spacing, defense and recognizing situations instead of immediately memorizing difficult commands. World Tour supplies a solo, exploratory way to encounter the game, while Battle Hub provides a social space around matches. Accessibility options broaden the audience beyond players who already know traditional fighting-game conventions.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That combination matters when comparing alternatives. A game can have simplified commands yet still offer a steep competitive climb; conversely, a game can be deep but provide little help before online matches. The useful questions are therefore:
- Can you perform useful attacks before mastering complex commands?
- Is there structured solo content for learning at your own pace?
- Does the game teach the concepts that matter in its own ruleset?
- Will the perspective and pacing keep you interested long enough to practice?
Street Fighter 6 is a traditional 2D/2.5D reference. Its lessons about distance, blocking, punishment and timing transfer most naturally to another game with a similar perspective. They do not transfer automatically to a 3D fighter or to an anime fighter built around more air movement.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising: the clearest beginner alternative
Why the controls lower the barrier
Cygames describes Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising in unusually direct terms: “With simple inputs, newcomers can hop right into the action without learning difficult commands, while advanced players can still enjoy competitive play against their peers.” That statement addresses the exact tension many beginners have: they want controls they can use immediately, but they do not want to outgrow the game as soon as they improve.

Simple inputs should be understood as an entry feature, not a promise that every match will be simple. Once both players understand movement, defense, timing and the game’s character-specific options, decision-making becomes the challenge. A beginner can therefore start with the same broad objective as in SF6—control space, identify openings and convert them into damage—while learning a different set of details.
Story, Arcade and Training form a practical learning path
The official game page lists Story Mode, Arcade Mode and Training Mode. These modes support three different learning needs:
- Story Mode: useful when you want guided, low-pressure play and context for the cast before committing to competitive matches.
- Arcade Mode: a repeatable way to fight through a sequence of matches and become comfortable with a character’s basic rhythm.
- Training Mode: the place to test attacks, movement and responses deliberately rather than discovering them by accident online.
A sensible first session is to choose one character, play enough Story or Arcade content to become comfortable moving and blocking, then use Training to repeat the situations that caused trouble. You do not need to finish every solo mode before playing other people; the value is having somewhere to isolate one problem at a time.

Who should choose it
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is the best fit for an SF6 player who wants a familiar 2D-style viewpoint but an easier execution starting point. It is also a strong choice for someone buying a first fighting game and wanting both solo content and a credible competitive destination.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe transition is not completely frictionless. Even with simple inputs, you still need to learn a new roster, move properties, timing conventions and matchups. Treat the game as its own ruleset rather than assuming an SF6 combo or defensive habit works unchanged.
Tekken 8: the 3D alternative
What changes when the arena has depth
Tekken 8 supplies the most important contrast in this group: it is the 3D-fighter option. Instead of treating the stage as a primarily horizontal line, you must account for movement around the opponent. Positioning, sidestepping and the way attacks track through space become central concerns.
That difference is why Tekken 8 is not simply “SF6 with different characters.” Your SF6 experience still helps with universal fighting-game ideas—watching the opponent, defending under pressure, choosing when to attack and learning what is punishable—but the visual information you process is different. A move that appears safe or difficult to avoid in a 2D perspective may be handled by changing your angle or position in Tekken 8.
Why competitive players gravitate to it
Tekken 8 is positioned alongside Street Fighter 6 in current competitive coverage, and PlayStation’s EVO listing includes both games. That visibility gives a player a clear long-term target: local events, online competition and tournament study all have an established place in the broader fighting-game conversation.

Who should choose it
Pick Tekken 8 when learning 3D movement is part of the appeal, not an obstacle you hope will disappear. It suits players who enjoy studying positioning and matchups as much as practicing individual attacks. If your main requirement is a close mechanical continuation of SF6, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is the more direct fit.
Guilty Gear -Strive-: anime style with an adaptive tutorial
A different visual and movement language
Guilty Gear -Strive- is the choice for players who want anime presentation, highly stylized characters and a more dramatic visual identity than SF6’s street-fighting look. Its pacing and air movement also differ from SF6. Matches can ask you to think about vertical space and airborne approaches in ways that a newcomer trained only on a grounded 2D fighter may not expect.
That contrast is a feature for the right player. If the art direction and music motivate you to practice, the unfamiliar movement becomes a reason to keep learning rather than a barrier. If you want every lesson from SF6 to transfer directly, the change in rhythm may feel demanding.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →How the tutorial helps
The game is noted for tutorial support that adapts to your inputs. In practical terms, that means the teaching experience can respond to what you are doing rather than presenting only a fixed lecture. A player who repeatedly misses an approach or fails to respond to a situation can receive guidance aimed at that behavior.
An adaptive tutorial is not a substitute for repetition. Use it to identify a problem, then return to ordinary matches and Training-style practice to make the correction reliable. The most useful outcome is not memorizing a lesson but recognizing the situation when another player creates it.
Who should choose it
Choose Guilty Gear -Strive- if presentation is a major part of your motivation and you are comfortable learning a more airborne, anime-oriented game. It can support beginners, but the path is different from SF6: expect to spend time understanding movement and pacing before judging your performance by wins alone.

Mortal Kombat 1: story and spectacle first
Why it appeals to a different audience
Mortal Kombat 1 belongs on this list because it emphasizes cinematic violence and story content. For a player who wants a substantial single-player reason to start the game, that focus can be more compelling than a training-first design. The presentation is intentionally graphic and theatrical, so it is a poor fit if you want SF6’s comparatively grounded tone.
Competitive relevance
PlayStation’s EVO page lists Mortal Kombat 1 alongside Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising and Guilty Gear -Strive-. That confirms visibility within a major competitive showcase, but it does not establish a ranking of player populations, online activity or local tournament strength.
Think of Mortal Kombat 1 as a choice for someone who wants both fighting-game matches and a cinematic package. If your primary goal is to study a deep competitive scene, verify current events and matchmaking activity in your region rather than relying on a tournament list alone.
Who should choose it
Select Mortal Kombat 1 when story mode, dramatic presentation and graphic spectacle are decision-making priorities. Choose another title if your main requirement is a gentle mechanical transition from SF6 or a tutorial-centered learning path.

Which game has simple controls but a high skill ceiling?
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is the clearest evidence-backed answer because Cygames explicitly pairs simple inputs with competitive play for advanced players. The important distinction is between execution difficulty and decision-making difficulty. Reducing difficult commands can let more people perform an action; it does not remove the need to choose the correct action, recognize the opponent’s plan or manage risk.
Street Fighter 6 addresses the same tension through Modern controls. Guilty Gear -Strive- addresses the beginner problem through tutorial support, while Tekken 8 asks the player to learn a more complex spatial model. These are different solutions, so “simple controls” should not be treated as a universal quality ranking.

How to choose based on your first 10 hours
If you want the fastest route to real matches
- Start with Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising and select one character rather than sampling the whole roster.
- Use Story or Arcade Mode until movement, blocking and basic attacks feel repeatable.
- Spend a focused Training session testing the situations that confused you.
- Play real matches before you feel fully ready, then return to the mode that addresses the specific mistake you noticed.
If you want a new genre perspective
- Choose Tekken 8 and accept that movement around the opponent is a core lesson, not an advanced extra.
- Concentrate on observing position and timing instead of trying to import every SF6 habit.
- Use competitive matches as a way to identify recurring situations, then practice those situations deliberately.
If style is your main motivation
- Choose Guilty Gear -Strive- if anime presentation and expressive movement will keep you engaged.
- Follow its adaptive tutorial recommendations rather than skipping directly to ranked play.
- Give yourself time to understand air movement and pacing before comparing results with SF6.
If you want a campaign before competition
- Choose Mortal Kombat 1 for its cinematic story emphasis.
- Use the campaign to become comfortable with the controls and cast.
- Check current local and online activity separately if competitive play will determine whether you keep the game.
Competitive scenes: what the EVO listing tells you—and what it does not
PlayStation’s EVO page lists all five games discussed here and describes a global EVO community spanning more than 10 million players. That figure refers to the EVO community as presented by PlayStation; it is not an independently verified active-player count for any one game. It also does not predict queue times, tournament attendance or regional popularity.
Use the listing as a visibility check. All five titles have a place in a major fighting-game showcase, so none is an obscure choice purely because it lacks competitive recognition. For a purchase decision, add three local checks:
- Are there players in your region or friend group who play at your preferred times?
- Are current events, brackets or community sessions being run for the title?
- Does the game’s perspective and pace make you want to study losses rather than abandon practice?
Those questions are more useful than treating one event lineup as a universal popularity ranking.
Platform, edition and price checks before buying
Platform support, editions, stock and prices change. The available evidence does not establish a current retailer listing, edition-specific price or regional availability for these games. Confirm those details for your platform and country immediately before purchase.
Also check whether the edition you are considering includes the modes you expect. For Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, the relevant learning modes named by the official page are Story, Arcade and Training. For Street Fighter 6, the baseline features to verify are Modern controls, World Tour, Battle Hub and the accessibility options you need. Do not assume that a similarly named edition on a different platform contains identical content.
Decision table
| Your priority | Choose | Reason | What to prepare for |
|---|---|---|---|
| I am new and want simple execution | Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising | Simple inputs and three named learning modes | Learning a new roster and ruleset |
| I want the closest beginner-friendly baseline | Street Fighter 6 | Modern controls, World Tour, Battle Hub and accessibility options | Traditional 2D/2.5D spacing and long-term matchup study |
| I specifically want 3D combat | Tekken 8 | 3D movement changes how positioning works | Sidestepping, spatial awareness and less direct SF6 transfer |
| I want anime presentation | Guilty Gear -Strive- | Distinctive style and adaptive tutorial support | Different pacing and more prominent air movement |
| I want story and spectacle | Mortal Kombat 1 | Cinematic story focus and graphic presentation | A much more violent tone than Street Fighter 6 |
| I want a recognized tournament ecosystem | Any of the five, then verify local activity | All appear on PlayStation’s EVO listing | EVO visibility does not guarantee regional population or queue health |
Final recommendation
For most beginners leaving Street Fighter 6, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising offers the cleanest next step: its simple-input approach and Story, Arcade and Training modes directly address the first hours of learning, while the developer explicitly preserves competitive depth for advanced players. Tekken 8 is the right purchase when 3D movement is the attraction. Guilty Gear -Strive- rewards players drawn to anime presentation and adaptive teaching. Mortal Kombat 1 is the specialist choice for cinematic story content and graphic spectacle.
Street Fighter 6 remains the safest all-round baseline because its Modern controls and layered solo and social features support a wide range of beginners. The best alternative is therefore determined less by a universal ranking than by the kind of learning experience you want: familiar 2D fundamentals, a new 3D perspective, anime-style movement or a story-led spectacle.
