For a prerecorded Punjabi music playlist, export an MP4 with progressive H.264 video, keep the recording’s frame rate, and use AAC-LC stereo audio at 48 kHz. For a live stream, use YouTube’s separate ingest settings: H.264 with CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and live-specific video and audio bitrates. Punjabi music does not need a special codec or bitrate; the right settings depend on whether you are uploading a finished video or sending a live feed.
First decide: prerecorded playlist or live stream?
“Playlist stream” can mean a finished video that contains a sequence of songs, uploaded as a normal YouTube video, or a continuous live broadcast playing prerecorded material. Those are different workflows: YouTube’s recommended upload encoding settings do not match its live encoder recommendations.

- Uploading a finished playlist video: follow the upload recommendations below. The file is encoded before you upload it.
- Broadcasting the playlist live: configure your encoder for YouTube live ingest. The incoming stream must also fit the upload connection and comply with music-rights requirements.
These are technical recommendations, not Punjabi-specific presets. YouTube’s guidance does not specify a separate codec or bitrate for Punjabi-language content or music. See YouTube’s recommended upload encoding settings and live encoder settings.

| Setting | Recommended starting point |
|---|---|
| Container | MP4 |
| Video codec and scan | H.264, progressive scan |
| Frame rate | Match the recording. Common rates include 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60 fps. |
| Keyframes | Closed GOP, with GOP length half the frame rate |
| Stereo audio | AAC-LC or Opus, 48 kHz; YouTube’s recommended stereo upload bitrate is 384 kbps. |
| SDR color | BT.709 |
Choose video bitrate by resolution and frame rate
For SDR 1080p, YouTube recommends 8 Mbps at 24, 25, or 30 fps, and 12 Mbps at 48, 50, or 60 fps. These are upload recommendations, not live-stream bitrates. For other resolutions, use the corresponding resolution and frame-rate entry in YouTube’s upload encoding table rather than assuming the 1080p figures apply.
Increasing the export bitrate beyond the source’s detail cannot restore information that was not recorded. Conversely, an unnecessarily low bitrate can add visible compression, particularly around animated artwork, gradients, or fine details. Use a good-quality source and select the YouTube-recommended rate for its output resolution and frame rate.

Settings for a live playlist stream
For a live encoder sending a stream to YouTube, use the live ingest recommendations instead of the upload-file settings. A common H.264 setup uses constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and a bitrate chosen for the live resolution and frame rate. YouTube says not to exceed a four-second keyframe interval.
| Setting | Live-stream starting point |
|---|---|
| Protocol | RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS where supported. |
| Video | H.264; use CBR. |
| Frame rate | Up to 60 fps; select an encoder bitrate appropriate to the chosen resolution and frame rate. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds. |
| Stereo audio | AAC or MP3, 44.1 kHz; recommended live stereo bitrate is 128 kbps. |
| SDR color | Rec. 709 |
| Example H.264 video bitrate | 1080p30: 5 Mbps; 1080p60: 6 Mbps. |
The 5 Mbps and 6 Mbps figures are YouTube’s live ingest recommendations for those H.264 modes, not upload-export targets. Likewise, the 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz stereo recommendation is for live audio; do not substitute the 384 kbps, 48 kHz upload recommendation or mix the two tables. YouTube transcodes live input into viewer output formats, so these encoder settings describe what you send, not a guaranteed playback format for every viewer. Full details are in YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance.

Keep the live connection stable
The selected bitrate must be sustainable on the connection that is actually sending the stream. YouTube advises leaving 20% upload-bandwidth room, testing with audio and movement similar to the real stream, previewing the feed, and monitoring stream health. A speed test alone does not establish that a connection will remain stable for a long broadcast. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Choose a live resolution and frame rate, then set the encoder to the matching YouTube live bitrate range.
- Check that available upload bandwidth has roughly 20% headroom above the stream’s bitrate.
- Run a test using representative audio and visual movement; watch the preview and stream-health indicators before relying on the setup.
Music rights are separate from export quality
A technically correct file or encoder configuration does not grant permission to use the songs. YouTube’s livestream terms require you to have the necessary rights for live content, including music. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content; a stream can be interrupted even when a track is licensed if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel. YouTube says Creator Music does not currently support live content.

Check permissions for every track and for the intended use before broadcasting. A playlist’s availability as a recording, a license to upload it, and authorization for a live broadcast are not automatically the same thing. The uploaded video initially looks low-resolution
Higher-quality resolutions can take longer to finish processing. A newly uploaded video may initially be available only in lower quality. Allow processing to complete, then check the playback quality again; see YouTube’s upload audio and video troubleshooting guide.

The live stream buffers or loses stream health
The sending connection may not sustain the configured bitrate. Lower the live bitrate or resolution, confirm the recommended bandwidth headroom, and test again with representative audio and movement. Follow YouTube’s streaming tips.
The encoder reports a keyframe or ingest configuration issue
For live ingest, verify H.264 and CBR, set the keyframe interval to two seconds, and do not exceed four seconds. Make sure the chosen resolution and frame rate use the live bitrate recommendation, not the upload table.
A live stream is interrupted over a song
This is a rights or content-matching issue, not an export-bitrate problem. Review the rights for the track and whether the rights holder has allowlisted the channel; consult YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
