For a Kannada news replay uploaded as a video, export a progressive MP4 with H.264, the recording’s original frame rate, variable bitrate, AAC-LC audio at 48 kHz, and BT.709 color for SDR. At 1080p, YouTube’s upload recommendation is 8 Mbps for 24/25/30 fps or 12 Mbps for 48/50/60 fps. If you rebroadcast the replay through YouTube Live instead, use live-ingest settings—not upload bitrates—including CBR and a two-second keyframe interval.
First choose: upload a replay file or rebroadcast it live?
These are different delivery paths with different bitrate recommendations. Uploading sends a finished video file to YouTube; rebroadcasting sends an encoded signal into YouTube Live. Kannada does not require a special codec or bitrate. The source footage, resolution, frame rate, and whether the program is SDR or HDR determine the settings.

Recommended export settings for an uploaded replay
Video and color
- Container: MP4.
- Codec: H.264.
- Scan: progressive. If your source is interlaced, deinterlace it before export. YouTube gives converting 1080i60 to 1080p30 as an example.
- Frame rate: keep the recording’s frame rate. Common rates include 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60 fps. YouTube’s guidance is to encode and upload at the frame rate recorded.
- Rate control: variable bitrate. Select the YouTube recommendation for the exact resolution and frame rate in the table below.
- GOP: closed GOP, with a GOP length equal to half the frame rate.
- SDR color: BT.709. Use HDR only if the source and your workflow are genuinely HDR.
Audio
AAC-LC audio at 48 kHz is a suitable upload setting. Check speech intelligibility, music levels, and any inserted clips in an exported sample: bitrate guidance cannot correct noisy or distorted source audio.

YouTube’s SDR upload video bitrate recommendations
These are YouTube’s published upload recommendations, not a guarantee of a particular result. Choose the row matching both the export resolution and frame rate. They are not live encoder targets. See YouTube’s upload encoding guidance.

Settings if you rebroadcast the replay through YouTube Live
Use live-ingest guidance rather than the upload bitrate table. The YouTube English live encoder guidance currently lists H.264 at 14 Mbps for 1080p30 and 17 Mbps for 1080p60; it lists 8 Mbps for both 720p30 and 720p60. Recommendations can change, so check the current table and YouTube’s stream health panel when configuring your encoder. YouTube’s live encoder guidance.
- Protocol: RTMPS is preferred.
- Video: H.264 is broadly supported. Use progressive scan and the source frame rate, at a supported rate up to 60 fps.
- Rate control: CBR.
- Keyframes: two seconds; do not exceed four seconds.
- SDR: Rec.709, 8-bit.
- Audio: AAC or MP3. YouTube’s advanced settings list 44.1 kHz stereo and 128 kbps stereo as recommendations.
YouTube transcodes an incoming live stream into viewing formats for different devices and network conditions. That does not remove the need to send a stable feed at the chosen ingest settings.

Make Kannada news text and studio footage hold up
- Preserve the source frame rate. A presenter, ticker, or graphic-heavy program does not benefit from changing frame rate just to select a larger number. Match the source.
- Check small text at full playback size. Review Kannada glyphs, subtitles, tickers, names, and graphic edges in an exported sample. Encoding settings cannot repair a font or rendering problem.
- Keep the intended frame shape. For a 16:9 source program, keep graphics within the 16:9 frame. YouTube’s standard computer aspect ratio is 16:9; other aspect ratios are adapted by the player.
- Use the correct color workflow. For ordinary SDR footage, use BT.709/Rec.709 rather than an HDR profile. HDR settings are appropriate only for a compatible HDR source and workflow.
Test the live path and keep an archive
Before a scheduled rebroadcast, run an unlisted or private test with representative speech, motion, graphics, and inserted clips. YouTube recommends testing the connection and using audio and motion similar to the real program. Choose the highest resolution and bitrate the connection can sustain reliably; a larger bitrate is not helpful if it causes buffering or dropped frames. For live streams, YouTube can automatically archive broadcasts shorter than 12 hours, but warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Record a local backup, confirm that the recording file is growing during the program, and check the saved file before deleting source material. A separate drive can hold the backup; size storage for the program’s duration and recording bitrate rather than assuming one fixed capacity. YouTube archive guidance.
