Best starting point: keep the DPI and in-game sensitivity you already control confidently, use 1,000 or 2,000 Hz polling for a dependable baseline, and test 4,000 or 8,000 Hz only when your high-refresh system keeps frame pacing stable. For HITS (the mouse’s adjustable click system), begin with a low actuation step and low Rapid Trigger step for fast shooters, then increase either value if you trigger clicks accidentally. Set Click Haptics near the middle until you know whether stronger feedback is worth the additional battery use.

Recommended settings at a glance

There is no single universal DPI or HITS combination. Your hand speed, mousepad size, game sensitivity, monitor refresh rate and tolerance for accidental clicks all matter. The useful approach is to preserve the sensitivity that already feels predictable, then change one hardware control at a time.

Control Starting value When to change it Main trade-off
DPI Your established in-game sensitivity, commonly kept unchanged when moving to this mouse Change only when you deliberately want a different eDPI or need more physical travel Higher DPI can reduce required hand movement but makes fine control harder if you do not retune sensitivity
Polling rate 1,000 or 2,000 Hz Try 4,000 or 8,000 Hz on a high-refresh competitive PC after checking frame pacing Higher rates can make cursor updates more frequent, but consume more battery and CPU headroom
Actuation Point Low step for speed; move upward one step at a time if clicks misfire Raise it for more deliberate presses or lower it for quicker activation Lower steps are more sensitive; higher steps need more intentional pressure
Rapid Trigger Low step for rapid repeated clicks Raise it if releasing or re-engaging a button too easily causes unwanted inputs Lower steps release the click sooner as your finger lifts
Click Haptics Middle of the available range Lower it for battery life and a lighter feel; raise it when tactile confirmation is more important Stronger haptics use more power and shorten battery life

The Logitech G PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE uses HERO 2 hardware rated for up to 44,000 DPI, more than 888 IPS and 88 G. Those are sensor limits, not targets you should automatically select. A setting is useful only if you can stop and start the pointer exactly where you intend.

How to choose DPI without losing your aim

Keep your established eDPI first

Effective DPI (eDPI) is the product of mouse DPI and the game’s sensitivity value. If you move from another mouse and want the same turning distance, keep the same DPI and in-game sensitivity initially. For example, changing from 800 DPI to 1,600 DPI while leaving game sensitivity untouched approximately doubles your eDPI and makes every movement twice as fast. To preserve the old feel after doubling DPI, halve the in-game sensitivity.

  • Play Longer : With 60-90 hours battery life and LIGHTSPEED Wireless, this rechargeable gaming mouse(with included USB-A to USB-C cable) delivers lag-free 8 kHz polling for uninterrupted focus

Use a consistent test: enter the same training map, make a full 180-degree turn from a marked point, and perform slow target transitions. If the crosshair stops short or overshoots, adjust the game sensitivity in small increments rather than chasing a “perfect” DPI number.

When a different DPI is justified

  • Small mousepad or limited arm room: a higher DPI with proportionally lower game sensitivity can reduce the distance needed for a turn.
  • Large-pad, arm-aiming setup: a lower DPI often gives more physical distance for fine corrections.
  • Mixed desktop use: a moderate DPI can keep Windows navigation comfortable while a per-game profile applies the sensitivity you actually play.
  • Very high sensitivity: lowering DPI and raising in-game sensitivity by the matching ratio may make tiny sensor movements less perceptible, but test for comfort rather than assuming it will improve accuracy.

G HUB provides independent X-axis and Y-axis DPI controls. Keep both axes equal unless you have a specific reason—such as a game or accessibility setup—to make vertical movement intentionally faster or slower. Unequal axes can make diagonal aiming feel inconsistent.

Use profiles instead of constantly changing one value

Create a profile for each game or a small group of games with similar sensitivity requirements. Store the DPI stages and assignments in the mouse’s onboard memory through G HUB. Onboard storage lets the configuration travel with the mouse to another computer, although the receiving system may still apply its own game sensitivity, operating-system pointer settings or acceleration.

Polling rate: what to use at 1,000, 2,000, 4,000 or 8,000 Hz

Understand what the number changes

Polling rate is how often the mouse reports its position to the computer. At 1,000 Hz, a report is sent every 1 millisecond; at 8,000 Hz, the interval is 0.125 milliseconds. The smaller interval can make motion updates more uniform on a high-refresh display, but it does not replace a stable frame rate, a good sensor path or consistent aim technique.

The PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE supports up to 8,000 Hz wirelessly, while Logitech’s listed wired polling limit is 1,000 Hz. A PC Gamer review published in 2025 reported up to 90 hours of battery life at 1,000 Hz while playing shooters. Battery runtime varies with polling, lighting, haptic strength and use, so do not treat that figure as an 8,000 Hz estimate.

Choose a baseline that is easy to troubleshoot

  1. Start at 1,000 Hz. This is broadly compatible and gives a clear baseline for aim and battery behavior.
  2. Try 2,000 Hz. Keep it if cursor motion feels equally stable and battery drain remains acceptable.
  3. Test 4,000 Hz. Use a repeatable game scene and watch frame-time graphs, not just average frames per second.
  4. Test 8,000 Hz last. Keep it only if your CPU, game engine and display refresh rate handle the additional reports without stutter, dropped frames or shortened sessions.

Higher polling can increase CPU work because the system processes more input reports. If frame pacing worsens, menus become less responsive or battery life falls sharply, return to the previous rate. A stable 1,000 or 2,000 Hz setup is preferable to an 8,000 Hz setting that introduces hitching.

Match polling to the rest of the system

Polling is most noticeable when the display refreshes frequently and the game can deliver frames at a similarly high cadence. On a 60 Hz screen, many additional mouse reports arrive between visible refreshes, so the practical benefit is usually smaller than on a 240 Hz or faster display. CPU-limited games and background-heavy systems may also gain less from an extreme rate.

HITS: setting Actuation Point correctly

What Actuation Point does

Actuation Point determines how far the button mechanism must move before the mouse registers a click. The Logitech manual defines ten steps. Smaller steps are more sensitive and activate with less travel; larger steps require a more deliberate press.

For rapid-fire or click-timing games, begin with a low step and perform several minutes of ordinary play. If resting a finger on the button, recoil control or rapid direction changes produce unintended clicks, increase the step one increment at a time. Do not change DPI and actuation in the same test session if you are trying to identify the cause of a problem.

Set left and right buttons independently

G HUB allows separate Actuation Point values for the left and right click. The left button may benefit from a faster setting in a click-timing game, while the right button can use a more deliberate value for aiming down sights, contextual actions or menu work. There is no requirement that both sides match.

Rapid Trigger: faster release without accidental reactivation

How Rapid Trigger behaves

Rapid Trigger changes when a click releases as your finger lifts. The manual provides five steps: smaller values release the click sooner, before the button has returned to its original actuation point. This can help with repeated clicks, burst control and fast alternating inputs.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Start at a low step if your game rewards very quick repeated presses. Then test a sequence of single taps, double taps and controlled bursts. If a slight finger lift releases the button earlier than intended, or a small bounce re-engages it, increase the Rapid Trigger value. The goal is the fastest release you can control, not the smallest number by itself.

Separate “activation speed” from “release speed”

Actuation Point controls the press threshold; Rapid Trigger controls release behavior. A low actuation step paired with a high Rapid Trigger step can activate quickly but require a more intentional lift. Conversely, both at their lowest settings prioritize speed and sensitivity. Adjust them independently so you know which change solved a misfire.

Click Haptics: tactile confirmation versus battery life

Use the middle first

Click Haptics adds adjustable tactile feedback to a click. The control has six values including 0/off. Logitech describes the range as six intensity levels. Start near the middle: it is strong enough to confirm presses without immediately committing to the highest power draw.

Choose 0 or a low value when you want the lightest click feel, minimum feedback or the longest possible battery runtime. Raise the value when confirmation matters more—for example, when you play without looking at the interface or frequently need to distinguish a registered click from a missed one.

Logitech’s manual explicitly warns that higher Click Haptics strength consumes more power and reduces battery life. If you increase haptics, monitor the interval between charges rather than assuming the advertised 1,000 Hz runtime still applies.

When haptics help—and when they do not

Independent testing from RTINGS, updated June 30, 2026, found the adjustable click system especially useful for click-timing games. Its value is less pronounced in tracking-heavy gameplay, where the priority is keeping a smooth, predictable button hold while following a target. In those games, a lower haptic level can reduce fatigue and power use without sacrificing meaningful control.

Exact G HUB setup procedure

  1. Open Logitech G HUB and select the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE.
  2. Open the HITS Configuration tab.
  3. Set Actuation Point independently for the left and right buttons. Pick a smaller step for sensitivity or a larger step for deliberate presses.
  4. Set Rapid Trigger. Use a smaller step for earlier release and raise it if lifting your finger causes unwanted releases.
  5. Set Click Haptics. Choose 0 or a low value to minimize feedback and power draw, or increase it for stronger tactile confirmation.
  6. Open the DPI and polling controls, create the profile values you want, and assign each profile to the relevant game.
  7. Save the configuration to onboard memory. Verify that the intended profile is active after disconnecting and reconnecting the mouse.
  8. Play a real match or a representative training scenario before making another change. Record one setting change and its result so you can revert confidently.

Practical profiles for different games

Use case DPI approach Polling approach HITS approach Reasoning
Click-timing or semi-automatic shooters Keep your proven eDPI 1,000–8,000 Hz, depending on frame pacing Low actuation and low Rapid Trigger; medium haptics Fast press and release can matter more than sustained tracking
Tracking-heavy shooters Prioritize a controllable, repeatable eDPI 1,000–4,000 Hz unless 8,000 Hz is demonstrably stable Moderate actuation; low-to-medium Rapid Trigger; low haptics if fatigue develops Smooth holds and consistent corrections outweigh extreme click sensitivity
Strategy, role-playing and productivity Choose a comfortable desktop DPI and game-specific profile when needed 1,000 or 2,000 Hz Higher actuation and Rapid Trigger steps; low haptics Deliberate selections and battery efficiency are usually more valuable
Shared or tournament computers Save DPI stages and assignments onboard Use 1,000 or 2,000 Hz for broad compatibility Use a moderate, predictable configuration Reduces surprises when software, CPU load and displays differ

How to stop accidental clicks

  • Raise the affected button’s Actuation Point by one step, then retest.
  • Raise Rapid Trigger if the unwanted input occurs while lifting your finger.
  • Lower Click Haptics if vibration or a strong tactile impulse makes you tense your finger.
  • Check that the correct G HUB profile is active; a game may be loading a different set of values.
  • Test with a clean, dry button surface and a relaxed grip. Excess finger pressure can defeat an otherwise sensible threshold.
  • If the problem appears only at 4,000 or 8,000 Hz, return to 1,000 or 2,000 Hz and check whether the behavior was actually system instability rather than HITS sensitivity.

Diagnosing polling and HITS problems

Cursor feels uneven after increasing polling

Return to 1,000 Hz, close overlays and background applications, and compare frame-time behavior in the same scene. If the stutter disappears, try 2,000 Hz before attempting a higher value again. Keep the lower rate if it remains the smoothest in actual play.

Clicks register before you intend them

Increase Actuation Point first. If the error happens during release rather than press, change Rapid Trigger instead. Make one adjustment, play long enough to encounter the original situation, and only then change another control.

Battery life is much shorter than expected

Check polling rate, Click Haptics intensity and lighting. The 90-hour figure reported by PC Gamer applies to 1,000 Hz while playing shooters, not every combination of wireless settings. Lowering polling and haptic strength usually has a clearer battery effect than changing DPI.

Settings disappear on another computer

Confirm that the profile was written to onboard memory, then verify the mouse is using that profile rather than a software-only G HUB profile. Game sensitivity and operating-system pointer settings remain separate from the mouse’s stored DPI.

A sensible tuning order

  1. Lock your game sensitivity and DPI at the familiar eDPI.
  2. Set polling to 1,000 Hz and confirm stable play.
  3. Raise polling to 2,000, 4,000 and then 8,000 Hz only if each step remains smooth.
  4. Set Actuation Point for intentional activation, starting low and increasing it when misfires occur.
  5. Adjust Rapid Trigger for release behavior, not as a substitute for Actuation Point.
  6. Set Click Haptics for the feedback you can use without unacceptable battery loss.
  7. Save separate game profiles and onboard memory settings.

The hardware supports very high sensor resolution and wireless polling, but those maximums are options rather than performance promises. The best configuration is the one that preserves your established aim, keeps frame pacing stable and registers only the clicks you mean to make.
