For most groups, start with Mario Kart World for instantly understandable racing, Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV for the widest mix of party activities, or Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park for a shared platforming adventure. Choose Kirby Air Riders when everyone wants fast, competitive vehicle action.
The right purchase depends less on a universal ranking than on how your group plays: cooperative progression, team-based party games, or short competitive rounds. The table below shows the published player limits, then the guide explains controllers, GameShare, camera requirements, session length, accessibility and the best fit for two-, three- and four-player gatherings.

Quick comparison: what each game supports
| Game | One-system play | Local wireless | Online | Best fit | Play relationship |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mario Kart World | 1–4 players | Not stated in Nintendo’s family guide | 1–24 players | Mixed-skill groups and drop-in racing | Direct competition |
| Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV | 1–4 players | Not stated in Nintendo’s family guide | 1–20 players | Groups that want boards, minigames and team modes | Party play, including cooperative events |
| Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park | 1–4 players | 2–8 players | 1–12 players | Players who want to progress through levels together | Cooperative campaign |
| Kirby Air Riders | 1–4 players | 2–8 players | 1–16 players | Fast mechanical competition and repeatable matches | Direct competition |
These limits come from Nintendo’s 2026 “Multiplayer family fun” guidance and the individual Nintendo software listings. “One-system play” means everyone is using the same Switch 2; local wireless uses multiple nearby systems; online play uses an internet connection. A mode may support fewer players than the game’s headline maximum, so check the mode description before starting a tournament or board.

Two players
Pick Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park if both players want to move through the same levels, collect items and learn a campaign together. Its cooperative structure gives a two-person session a sense of progress rather than a sequence of disconnected matches.

Choose Mario Kart World for a low-explanation race night. The controls are familiar, rounds are short, and players can switch tracks without learning a large rule set. Kirby Air Riders is the better alternative when both players enjoy timing boosts, charging, attacks and machine handling.
Super Mario Party Jamboree works with two people, but its board and minigame variety are most valuable when the group wants a social party format rather than a continuous adventure.
Three players
Three-player groups usually get the most flexibility from Mario Kart World or Jamboree. Racing keeps everyone active at the same time, while Jamboree can alternate between board decisions, individual minigames and team events. Wonder remains the strongest choice if the group wants to keep a campaign moving and is comfortable with one player occasionally taking a support role.

Four players
For four people on one television, Mario Kart World is the safest mixed-skill recommendation: players can join races quickly, and a newcomer does not need to understand a long rules briefing. Jamboree is broader rather than simpler, offering board play, competitive minigames and explicit cooperative activities. Wonder is best when all four want to share platforming levels instead of taking turns in party games.
Groups using multiple Switch systems
Wonder and Kirby Air Riders are the two picks in this guide with published local-wireless ranges. They let nearby systems form a local session when one console is not enough. Nintendo’s listed local-wireless range is two to eight players for each of those games; the single-system limits in the table still apply when everybody is sharing one Switch 2.
Mario Kart World: the easiest recommendation for mixed groups
Mario Kart World is the default choice when the priority is immediate fun with almost no explanation. Nintendo highlights Knockout Tour, in which racers pass through consecutive courses and are eliminated at checkpoints. That structure gives a group a clear objective while preserving the quick restart cycle that makes racing suitable for guests who may only play for a few minutes.

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Why it works on a shared screen
- Every player is engaged during the race rather than waiting for a turn.
- Short events make it easy to rotate controllers or change the rules between rounds.
- Knockout Tour supplies a progression arc without requiring a campaign commitment.
- The broad skill range of kart racing makes it approachable for children, occasional players and experienced racers in the same room.
This is a competitive recommendation, not a cooperative campaign. If your group specifically wants to solve levels together or share a single objective, choose Wonder instead.
Hardware and session notes
Use one controller per racer. For a four-person television session, the Switch 2’s included pair of Joy-Con 2 controllers is not enough by itself; plan on additional compatible controllers. Tabletop mode is useful when a television is unavailable, but make sure the screen is positioned where all racers can see course hazards and item effects.
Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV: the broadest party package
The Switch 2 Edition launched on July 24, 2025. It combines the familiar board-and-minigame structure with Switch 2 additions: Jamboree TV content, mouse control, microphone features, CameraPlay, GameShare compatibility and higher-resolution output.
What a local group can do
- Board play: players make movement and item decisions between events.
- Tag-Team Rules: teams of two can cooperate through a board format rather than playing every challenge individually.
- Bowser Live: a mode built around Bowser-themed challenges and group reactions.
- Carnival Coaster: a four-player cooperative minigame in which everyone aims together for a high score.
- Twenty new minigames: additional short activities for groups that prefer variety over a long board session.
That range makes Jamboree the most adaptable purchase here, but it also means the group should agree on a mode before starting. A board game can last substantially longer than a single race, while a minigame-only session is easier to fit into a short visit.
CameraPlay, microphone and mouse requirements
A compatible USB-C camera is sold separately for CameraPlay and some Jamboree TV features. The camera is optional for ordinary local multiplayer: the board, standard minigames and Carnival Coaster do not require you to buy one. Voice-controlled modes can use the Switch 2’s built-in microphone, so a camera is not a prerequisite for every Jamboree TV activity. Mouse control is an additional input option, not a replacement requirement for standard Joy-Con play.
GameShare scope
GameShare can let a Switch 2 owner share part of Jamboree locally with people using a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2. For this title, Nintendo identifies the Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party board and 30 selected minigames as GameShare content. The shared experience has important limits: it is intended for local play, supports handheld-mode restrictions, and does not include GameChat. Treat GameShare as a way to sample supported content with nearby systems, not as a complete transfer of every Jamboree mode.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park: the cooperative campaign pick
This edition is for groups that want everyone progressing through the same platforming adventure. The Switch 2 content adds minigames, challenges, collectibles, boss battles, Rosalina, Co-Star Luma cooperative gameplay, enhanced resolution, GameShare support and mouse controls for multiplayer co-op.
Why it feels different from a party game
Players remain inside connected levels rather than returning to a board after every challenge. The group can explore, recover from mistakes and work toward collectibles together. That makes Wonder a strong choice for a family or friend group that plans recurring sessions and wants progress to carry from one visit to the next.
Cooperative platforming still needs communication. Agree on who is leading through unfamiliar sections, who is looking for collectibles and when to slow down for a less experienced player. The added challenges and boss battles provide goals beyond simply reaching the end of a stage.

Nintendo lists local wireless support for two to eight players and online support for one to twelve. On one console, the published maximum is four players. GameShare support is included in the Switch 2 Edition, allowing supported multiplayer content to be shared locally from a host system; the exact activities available through sharing can differ by title, so read the in-game GameShare description before promising a full campaign to guests who do not own the software.
Kirby Air Riders: high-speed competition for action-focused groups
Kirby Air Riders is built around vehicular action rather than traditional kart racing. Nintendo describes charging, boosting, spinning attacks, rider selection and machine customization. Those mechanics give each round more mechanical depth than a simple accelerate-and-turn race, making it a better fit for players who enjoy experimenting with controls and loadouts.
When to choose it
- Choose it for groups that want direct competition and quick rematches.
- Choose it when machine customization is part of the appeal.
- Choose it for a group that enjoys learning a system through repeated play rather than relying on familiar karting conventions.
It carries an Everyone 10+ rating with Fantasy Violence, while the other three games in this guide are rated Everyone with Mild Fantasy Violence. Discuss that difference with parents before a mixed-age session.

Nintendo lists local wireless support for two to eight players and online support for one to sixteen, in addition to the one-system range shown in the comparison table. Local wireless therefore makes it practical for a larger gathering with several Switch systems, provided every participant has the required hardware and a compatible session setup.
Controllers, cameras and room setup
How many controllers are included
Each Switch 2 system includes two Joy-Con 2 controllers. Nintendo therefore cautions that groups of more than two may need additional controllers, sold separately. A three- or four-player session should be planned around one usable controller per person unless the specific game supports a different control arrangement.
Using existing Nintendo Switch controllers
Existing Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers can pair wirelessly with Switch 2 in TV or tabletop mode. Check battery charge and pair every controller before inviting players to join. Handheld configurations and game-specific control requirements can differ, so test the intended arrangement before a party begins.
TV versus tabletop
TV mode is the most comfortable arrangement for four players because everyone gets a stable, shared view. Tabletop mode works for smaller groups or spaces without a television; place the console high enough that controllers and hands do not block the screen. Jamboree GameShare has handheld-mode limitations, so do not assume every shared activity works identically in handheld, tabletop and TV configurations.
When a USB-C camera is worth buying
Buy a compatible USB-C camera only if your group specifically wants CameraPlay or the Jamboree TV features that require one. It is an optional accessory, not a general requirement for couch multiplayer, racing, platforming or standard party minigames.

Sometimes. Nintendo’s GameShare feature lets a Switch 2 share supported game content with nearby Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 systems. The host must own a compatible Switch 2 title, and the visiting systems join locally through that game’s GameShare function. GameShare availability is title-specific, so ownership of one game does not automatically unlock every mode or every game in this guide.

Practical GameShare checklist
- Confirm that the title and the mode you want are marked as GameShare-compatible.
- Update the host Switch 2 and the participating systems before the gathering.
- Place the systems near one another and close other wireless obstacles where possible.
- Open the game’s GameShare option on the owning system and have nearby players join from their systems.
- Read the restrictions shown for the selected mode. Jamboree, for example, limits sharing to the Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party board and 30 selected minigames, with handheld-mode and no-GameChat limitations.
- End the shared session from the host system before changing games or handing the console to another group.
GameShare is different from ordinary one-console multiplayer. In a one-console session, everyone uses the same Switch 2 and its paired controllers. In GameShare, nearby systems participate, and the host’s title determines what content is available.
How to plan a smooth four-player session
- Choose the session shape first. Select racing for fast rounds, Jamboree for a rotating party format, Wonder for campaign progress, or Kirby Air Riders for mechanical competition.
- Count controllers before guests arrive. The included two Joy-Con 2 controllers cover two players; arrange additional controllers for a larger group.
- Decide between TV and tabletop. Use TV mode when visibility and comfort matter most; use tabletop for a compact setup and a smaller group.
- Pair and label controllers. Test every controller, then assign players positions so a disconnected or swapped Joy-Con does not interrupt the first round.
- Set a rotation rule. For racing or Kirby matches, rotate after each event. For Jamboree boards, agree on whether the same players will finish the board. For Wonder, decide whether the group will continue the campaign or stop at a natural level break.
- Explain only the essential controls. Demonstrate movement, acceleration or the primary action, then let players learn advanced mechanics during the first round.
Troubleshooting common group problems
Only two people can join
The most common cause is hardware, not the game: the console includes two Joy-Con 2 controllers. Pair additional controllers using the Switch 2 controller-management screen, confirm that each player appears in the game’s player lobby, and check whether the selected mode has a lower player limit than the title overall.
A visiting system cannot see GameShare
Verify that the host is using a Switch 2 and that the game and selected activity support GameShare. Keep systems nearby, close the game’s multiplayer menu and reopen the GameShare option if the joining prompt expires. A title’s ordinary local multiplayer support does not prove that all of its content is shareable.

CameraPlay does not work
Check that the camera is a compatible USB-C model, connected before launching the relevant feature, and recognized by the console. If you only want standard Jamboree minigames or board play, disconnecting the camera should not prevent those modes from working.
Players are confused by a mode
Start with a simple race in Mario Kart World, a short Jamboree minigame, or an early Wonder level. Save Knockout Tour, Bowser Live, advanced Kirby mechanics and longer board sessions until everyone understands the basic controls.
Ratings, audience and content considerations
| Game | Nintendo-listed rating | Content note | Conversation to have before play |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mario Kart World | Everyone with Mild Fantasy Violence | Competitive racing and item attacks | Explain that players can interfere with one another during races. |
| Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV | Everyone with Mild Fantasy Violence | Party challenges, board competition and cooperative events | Agree whether the group wants friendly competition or team play. |
| Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park | Everyone with Mild Fantasy Violence | Platforming hazards, bosses and cooperative play | Decide how the group will share control of the pace and collectibles. |
| Kirby Air Riders | Everyone 10+ with Fantasy Violence | Vehicular attacks, boosts and high-speed action | Check that the rating suits every child in the room. |
Which one should you buy?
Buy Mario Kart World when you need the most dependable drop-in game for a mixed group. Buy Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV when variety, board play, team rules and optional camera or microphone features matter more than a single continuous adventure. Buy Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park when the group wants to cooperate through levels, challenges and boss fights over multiple sessions. Buy Kirby Air Riders when everyone prefers fast, skill-focused vehicle competition and customization.
Before checkout, match the choice to your actual room setup: one Switch 2 or several, two controllers or four, TV or tabletop, and ordinary local play or GameShare. The published player limits make all four suitable for a group, but their session shapes are different enough that choosing by play style will produce a better night than choosing by the largest headline number alone.
