Neither product is proven to prevent night sweats or keep every sleeper cool. “Cooling” can mean a cool-to-the-touch first impression, breathable construction, or moisture handling—related qualities, but not interchangeable ones.
What “cooling” means in a comforter
A cool-touch fabric can feel cooler at first contact without establishing how comfortable the whole comforter will feel after hours in bed. What the cooling measurements do—and do not—show
REST’s reported study and fabric comparison
REST says a SleepScore Labs study covering more than 1,000 nights found that 97% of participants found its cooling sensation better than a regular comforter, 94% reported improved overall sleep quality, and 88% experienced better temperature regulation. The product page does not state the study year. These are company-presented study results, not a guarantee of an individual outcome.

REST also displays SGS fabric Qmax figures of 0.433 for Evercool, 0.19 for silk, 0.15 for bamboo, and 0.11 for cotton. REST says a higher Qmax means a cooler feel at contact. These are the company’s fabric comparisons, not neutral testing of complete comforters or proof of all-night comfort.

Buffy’s reported moisture test
Buffy reports an Intertek Qmax result of 0.405 W/cm² for Breeze. The company also cites a peer-reviewed fiber test conducted at 20°C and 60% humidity: lyocell absorbed 9.23% of its weight in moisture, versus 5.54% for cotton—about 67% more. Buffy describes this as a controlled fiber test, not a measurement of a finished sheet or comforter. It should not be read as evidence that the comforter prevents sweating or delivers a particular clinical result.

Look beyond the word “cooling”
If you want a fluffy or substantial comforter, compare loft and overall weight as carefully as the shell material. A user’s request for a cooling comforter that is also fluffier illustrates the trade-off, but an individual post is not evidence of broader buyer preferences. Neither product’s cited details establish that it will combine a particular degree of loft with a guaranteed temperature outcome.
