There is no officially established “best” controller map or PC graphics preset for 2XKO. Riot’s published notes do confirm that you can save separate control layouts for contexts such as Combat and Lobby, choose either a 2XKO default or a custom layout, and select controller icons in several learning modes. Riot has not published a complete current PC display-settings inventory, recommended graphics values, or a tested comparison of image quality, latency, and frame pacing. The most reliable approach is therefore to build a control layout you can operate consistently, then tune only the display options that are actually present in your current PC build.
This guide separates documented behavior from practical decision-making. It also explains the additional requirements for leverless and other controllers at Riot-sponsored events. Independent community tournaments can make different decisions.
Quick answer: what should you use?
For controls, open 2XKO’s current Controls menu, inspect each input context, and choose the 2XKO default or a custom layout that you can use without hesitation. Save and verify the layout for every profile and context you play. Do not assume that a button map described as “best” for another player will suit your hand position, accessibility needs, or preferred characters.

Riot’s available patch documentation confirms that display options exist and that controller-icon display choices persist when you leave and re-enter First Fight, Tutorials, and Combo Trials. It does not provide a defensible universal resolution, frame cap, synchronization mode, anti-aliasing choice, or quality preset. Change one visible option at a time and keep a change only if it gives you a clearly better result on your display.

| Can I configure a controller on PC? | Control layouts can be configured for different input contexts, saved per profile, and set to a 2XKO default or a custom layout. | A universal “best” button map or a ranking of controller types. |
| Can I change button icons? | Patch 1.1.1 documents platform-specific controller icons and 2XKO button icons in First Fight, Tutorials, and Combo Trials. Those display-option changes persist after leaving and re-entering those modes. | A complete list of current PC graphics options or proof that an icon choice changes performance. |
| What graphics preset should I use? | The game has display options that can be inspected in the current build. | Official recommended values, benchmark results, frame-rate targets, or a tested image-quality ranking. |
| Are leverless controllers legal? | Riot-sponsored events require specified simultaneous-opposite-cardinal (SOCD) behavior and prohibit turbo and macros. | Automatic approval at every independent community event or certification of any particular product. |
Set up your controller layout in 2XKO
1. Open the current Controls menu
Menu names and placement can change between builds, so use the Controls entry shown by your installation rather than following an old screenshot. The important distinction is the input context: Riot’s November 18, 2025 patch notes describe separate layouts for contexts such as Combat and Lobby. A button arrangement that feels correct during a match may be inconvenient for navigation, and vice versa.
#1 Best Overall
- OFFICIALLY LICENSED — Gain the ultimate weapon for staying ahead and embrace the grind with the Razer Kitsune – 2XKO Edition
- PRECISE QUAD MOVEMENT BUTTON LAYOUT — By replacing a joystick with 4 movement buttons, enjoy clean, crisp play without the input errors of typical fight sticks—from instantly buffering a charge to flawlessly performing complex motions
- LOW-PROFILE LINEAR OPTICAL SWITCHES — Featuring a shorter actuation height for greater response, the Kitsune’s smooth, lightning-fast switches provide the speed and precision needed to maximize the footsies and whiff punishes
- SLIM, PORTABLE FORM FACTOR — The arcade controller leverless design can be easily stored in a backpack, while its detachable USB Type C cable removes the need for constant coiling or uncoiling
- CABLE SECURITY CLASP AND TOURNAMENT LOCK SWITCH — With a built-in lock to fasten the cable and a lock switch that disables non-essential buttons, secure the win in the heat of competition by eliminating accidental inputs and disconnections
2. Decide whether to start from the default or a custom layout
The documented choices are a 2XKO default layout or a custom layout. Start with the default if you want the game’s current baseline, then alter only the actions that interfere with your hand position or accessibility requirements. Choose custom immediately if you already have a consistent arrangement from another fighting game. Neither choice is officially declared superior.
3. Configure every context you use
Review Combat and Lobby separately, and check any other context exposed by your build. Save the layout to the intended profile. The patch notes’ per-profile behavior means that changing one profile should not be treated as changing every profile; confirm the active profile before troubleshooting a layout that appears to have reverted.
4. Verify the layout in the game’s learning areas
Use First Fight, Tutorials, and Combo Trials to confirm that the buttons you reach instinctively produce the action you expect. These areas are also where Patch 1.1.1 documents controller-icon choices. A practical verification pass should check the directions and buttons you use most, then repeat the same sequence after leaving and re-entering the mode.

- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
5. Select the icon style that matches your device
Patch 1.1.1 says you can choose platform-specific controller icons or 2XKO button icons in First Fight, Tutorials, and Combo Trials. Select the symbols that make prompts easiest to read. Riot also says display-option changes persist after you leave and return to those learning modes, so you should not need to reset the choice every time you revisit them. This documented persistence applies to those modes; it is not evidence that every display setting in the PC build behaves identically.
6. Keep one deliberate layout while learning
Frequent remapping makes it harder to build reliable muscle memory. Once you select a layout, use it long enough to identify a genuine reach, accessibility, or clarity problem. Change one action at a time, record what changed, and recheck both Combat and Lobby. This is a consistency method, not a claim that a particular arrangement produces faster execution.
How to choose between a gamepad, keyboard, leverless controller, and fightstick
No supplied official source compares these input categories by execution quality, response latency, or competitive results. The sensible choice is the device you can connect reliably, configure within the game’s supported menu, and operate comfortably for long sessions.

| Input category | Questions to answer before committing | Evidence-based limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Standard gamepad | Can you reach movement, attacks, assists, and defensive actions without releasing the controls? Does the PC build recognize its connection? | No official material here identifies a particular gamepad as best or publishes a latency comparison. |
| Keyboard | Do the key positions feel repeatable, and can you assign the actions you need through 2XKO’s supported Controls menu? | The available material does not rank keyboard layouts against other devices. |
| Leverless controller | Does it implement the SOCD behavior required by the event you plan to enter? Can its firmware be configured without prohibited features? | Riot’s tournament rules address behavior and prohibited functions, not a named product list. |
| Fightstick | Are you already comfortable with its lever and button spacing, and is its PC connection recognized by your build? | No source here proves a performance advantage over another input style. |
Before buying any device, confirm three separate things: that your PC recognizes its connection, that 2XKO exposes the mappings you need, and that the device can meet the rules of any event you intend to enter. A controller purchase is a comfort and familiarity decision; the available evidence does not show that buying a particular style improves frame rate or game performance.
Riot-sponsored tournament rules for simultaneous inputs
Riot’s official 2XKO Competitive Permitted Peripherals page, published May 15, 2026, applies its restrictions to Riot-sponsored events, including the 2XKO Competitive Series. Independent community organizers are not required to enforce the same rules and may set their own policies. Ask the organizer before traveling with a device.
Required SOCD outcomes
Controllers capable of registering opposite directional inputs at the same time must resolve them as Riot specifies:
| Simultaneous inputs | Required result at Riot-sponsored events |
|---|---|
| Left + Right | Neutral |
| Up + Down | Up or neutral |
“Last Input Wins” behavior for left and right is prohibited. A leverless controller that does not already produce the required result needs compliant firmware or a hardware cleaning kit before Riot-sponsored play. The rule concerns the output generated by the device, not the marketing label attached to it.
Prohibited functions and duplicate outputs
- Turbo functions are prohibited.
- Custom macros are prohibited.
- Assigning specified attacks or dash to multiple buttons is prohibited.
- A single physical activation of a button, trigger, or key must correspond to a single in-game output action, subject to the game’s own supported configuration menu.
That last requirement is the core test for unusual mappings. If one physical press causes multiple in-game actions, or if a macro automates a sequence, it does not satisfy the quoted rule even if the device connects successfully. A layout created through 2XKO’s supported configuration menu is different from an external automation feature, but the event’s officials have final authority.

Pre-event compliance checklist
- Read the current rules for the specific Riot-sponsored event; do not rely on a forum post or an older season’s interpretation.
- Identify whether the device can produce simultaneous opposite directions.
- Test left plus right and up plus down and confirm the required neutral or up result.
- Disable turbo, macros, and any “Last Input Wins” mode.
- Check that each physical activation produces one in-game output action.
- Bring compliant firmware or a permitted hardware cleaning solution if the device requires it.
- Ask the organizer for a ruling if the device has an unusual layout or remapping feature.
Graphics settings: what you can safely tune
The available Riot notes do not support a universal PC graphics recipe. They do not expose the complete current Display-menu inventory, recommended values, a tested comparison of image quality, or measured effects on latency and frame pacing. Do not treat a list copied from another game—or a claimed “competitive preset”—as an official 2XKO recommendation.
A controlled way to tune your build
- Open the current in-game Display menu and write down the starting values. Menu labels can differ by build, so record the exact wording you see.
- Choose the display goal that matters most to you: readable image quality, stable motion, or reduced load on a limited PC.
- Change one available option only. Apply it, then observe the same type of gameplay or learning sequence before changing anything else.
- Keep a change only when the result is clearly better on your monitor and does not introduce a problem you can see or feel.
- After settling on a combination, leave and re-enter the relevant learning area to verify what persists. Patch 1.1.1 specifically documents persistence for its display-option choices in First Fight, Tutorials, and Combo Trials, not for every possible PC setting.
- If performance remains unsatisfactory, consult the current Riot PC-requirements documentation before deciding that a particular setting is at fault. The available FAQ search result exposes headings for minimum requirements but not the underlying values, so this guide cannot responsibly provide numbers.
Match the method to your hardware goal
| Goal | Practical method | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Clear, readable picture | Start with the build’s normal values, then alter one visible display option at a time while checking text, character edges, and motion on your own monitor. | No official ranking identifies a single image-quality preset. |
| Consistent play on a limited PC | Use the Display menu to reduce the options that visibly burden your system, testing each change separately and retaining only a stable combination. | No sourced frame-rate target or benchmark tells you which value is optimal. |
| High-end PC | Do not assume unused headroom makes every setting ideal. Compare the available choices on your display and keep the combination that provides the clarity and consistency you actually want. | No published test here proves that a particular option lowers input latency or improves frame pacing. |
Troubleshooting common setup problems
Your buttons changed after switching profiles
Return to Controls, confirm the active profile, and inspect the Combat and Lobby contexts separately. Riot’s documented per-profile layout behavior means that a change saved to one profile is not evidence that another profile was changed.
Prompts use unfamiliar symbols
In First Fight, Tutorials, or Combo Trials, open the documented controller-icon display choice and select platform-specific icons or 2XKO button icons. Leave and re-enter the mode to confirm the documented persistence behavior.

A leverless device is rejected at a Riot-sponsored event
Check the SOCD outputs first: left plus right must resolve to neutral, and up plus down must resolve to up or neutral. Then disable “Last Input Wins,” turbo, and macros, and verify that no prohibited attack or dash is assigned to multiple buttons. If the hardware cannot meet those conditions, it needs compliant firmware or a permitted cleaning kit before competition.
The game feels slow or unstable on PC
Do not infer a universal graphics fix from an unverified preset. Record the current Display-menu values, change one available option at a time, and compare under the same conditions. Check the current Riot PC requirements because the material available for this guide does not include their numerical specifications. If the issue is limited to a learning mode’s prompts, treat icon selection as a display preference rather than a performance setting.
A community tournament gives different instructions
Follow that organizer’s published policy. Riot’s restrictions described above are specifically for Riot-sponsored events; independent organizers have discretion and may be stricter, looser, or different in how they inspect peripherals.
What the official record does—and does not—promise
- Riot’s November 18, 2025 patch notes document context-specific, per-profile control layouts and the choice between a 2XKO default and a custom layout.
- Riot’s January 19, 2026 Patch 1.1.1 notes document platform-specific and 2XKO controller icons in First Fight, Tutorials, and Combo Trials, with persistence after leaving and re-entering those modes.
- Riot’s May 15, 2026 competitive-peripherals rules define SOCD outcomes and prohibit “Last Input Wins,” turbo, macros, and certain duplicate assignments at Riot-sponsored events.
- The official game page describes 2XKO as free to play and available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
- The surfaced official FAQ headings refer to minimum PC requirements and supported controllers, but the actual values and a complete device list are not available in the material used here.
- No official source supplied for this topic establishes a best controller model, a best button map, a complete graphics menu, a frame-rate target, a latency figure, or a tested PC preset.
The dependable setup is therefore personal but disciplined: configure each context and profile deliberately, use the icon style that makes prompts readable, verify any competitive device against the event’s exact rules, and tune only the graphics choices your current build actually exposes.
