The best compact power bank is the one whose size, weight, output, ports and charging protocol match your device. For a very light emergency reserve, Anker’s A1653 is listed at 100g and 5,000mAh. Nitecore’s POCKET 10000 doubles the rated capacity at 160g while retaining a 12.5mm thickness and a built-in two-way USB-C cable. A magnetic wireless model such as Anker’s Nano MagGo Slim 5K adds cable-free convenience but weighs 122g. Larger 20,000mAh and 130W designs are aimed at tablets, cameras or laptops rather than the smallest pocket.
The wattages below are manufacturer specifications, not independent speed measurements. Your phone’s charging input, cable and supported protocol determine what it actually receives. No cited source provides a controlled, cross-brand test of charging time, usable capacity, efficiency, heat or durability, so this is a portability-and-specification shortlist rather than a fastest-to-slowest ranking.

What “compact” should mean in a power bank
Capacity alone does not make a battery compact. A useful comparison includes the bank’s length, width, thickness and weight, then asks whether it can live in a trouser pocket, small handbag or daypack. A 20,000mAh bank may offer substantially more reserve yet belong in a bag because of its mass and volume.

Best choices by portability priority
For the smallest wired carry: Anker Nano Power Bank A1653
Anker lists the A1653 at 5,000mAh, 100g and 77 × 36.8 × 25mm. That combination makes it the most pocket-oriented example in this group by listed weight and overall footprint. Two USB-C ports let you use a separate cable and leave another port available, although the listing’s maximum output remains a capability rather than a guaranteed phone charging rate.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsChoose this format when your routine is phone-first: commuting, conferences, navigation or an evening away from an outlet. A 5,000mAh rating is a deliberate compromise for low carry weight. It is not the right class if you routinely need several full device charges or expect to power a laptop.
For a thin 10,000mAh option with its own cable: Nitecore POCKET 10000
Nitecore lists the POCKET 10000 at 10,000mAh, 160g and 12.5mm thick, with a built-in two-way USB-C cable and an additional USB-C port. The integrated cable can charge the bank or a device, reducing the chance of forgetting a lead; the separate port gives you another connection method.
Nitecore describes it as fitting easily into a pocket or bag for commuting or travelling. That is the manufacturer’s promotional description, not an independent assessment. Its listed 22.5W maximum should be checked against your phone’s input standard and the cable’s rating before you expect fast charging.
For magnetic wireless convenience: Anker Nano MagGo Slim 5K
The Nano MagGo Slim 5K is listed at 5,000mAh, 122g and 102 × 70.6 × 8.6mm. It supports Qi2 magnetic wireless charging and lists 20W USB-C charging. The 8.6mm thickness is slim, but the broad, 122g body is a different shape from a narrow wired bank.

Wireless charging is useful when you want the battery attached to a compatible phone without a dangling cable. It can be less suitable when the phone lacks the required magnetic alignment or when you need the most efficient wired connection. Confirm your exact phone model’s Qi2 or magnetic compatibility, and treat the 20W USB-C figure separately from wireless performance.
When a 10,000mAh wired bank is worth its extra mass
UGREEN’s regional product page lists a 10,000mAh PD 20W model at 131.8 × 66 × 16.5mm and 217g. It offers twice the rated capacity of the 5,000mAh examples, but its listed weight is more than double the A1653’s. That makes it a useful reminder that capacity gains can move a product into a different pocket experience.
Because this specification comes from a regional page, identify the exact market and SKU before buying. Names that look similar can have different dimensions, ports or regulatory markings. Check the seller’s model number against the manufacturer listing rather than relying on a generic “10,000mAh PD 20W” title.
Why 20,000mAh and 130W is a different portability class
UGREEN’s US listing for the Nexode 20,000mAh power bank specifies 130W total output and support for USB-C Power Delivery, PPS and other protocols. The manufacturer describes a phone-sized design weighing 480g. “Phone-sized” refers to its general shape, not pocket-friendly weight: 480g is nearly half a kilogram before you add cables or other equipment.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThis class makes sense for a tablet, camera, handheld console or compatible laptop where high output and a larger reserve matter more than a light pocket. It should not be presented as a smallest-pocket recommendation beside 100g or 160g phone banks. Verify your computer’s required USB-C profile and the bank’s per-port limits; “130W total” does not mean every port can deliver 130W simultaneously.
Output wattage is only one part of fast charging
Match the phone’s input capability
A power bank can advertise 22.5W while a particular phone accepts less, negotiates a different voltage or uses a proprietary fast-charge mode. The phone controls the negotiated draw. Look up the phone’s supported USB-C Power Delivery, PPS or other protocol requirements, then compare them with the bank’s specification.
Check the cable
The cable must support the requested current and signaling. A USB-C connector by itself does not guarantee a particular wattage. Replace damaged or unusually thin cables, and use the integrated cable only within the capabilities stated for that model.

Read the protocol list, not just the headline number
The higher-capacity UGREEN listing explicitly names USB-C PD/PPS and other protocols, illustrating why protocol information belongs next to wattage in a comparison. Do not infer universal fast-charge compatibility from a single 20W, 22.5W or 130W number.

Allow for multi-port behavior
Maximum output may apply to one port under a particular condition. Connecting a second device can change the available power or divide the total. If you plan to charge a phone and earbuds together, check the exact output table for that SKU rather than assuming each port receives the headline maximum.
Wireless versus wired: choose the convenience you actually use
Wired USB-C charging is generally the simplest way to pursue the bank’s listed maximum because the phone and bank negotiate through the cable. It also works with a wider range of devices, provided the cable and protocol match.
Qi2 magnetic wireless charging can be easier during navigation or while walking, especially when a compatible phone stays aligned to the battery. It adds alignment and device-compatibility requirements and should not be compared directly with a wired wattage figure. A wireless bank may also occupy more surface area even when it is thin.
An integrated cable, as on the POCKET 10000, removes one item from your travel kit but cannot be swapped if it is damaged or unsuitable for a particular device. Separate ports and a short, known-good cable offer more flexibility at the cost of carrying that cable.
How to select the right bank step by step
- Define the carry limit. Measure the pocket or pouch you will actually use. Set a maximum weight as well as a maximum thickness; a 480g high-power bank may be acceptable in a backpack but not in a pocket.
- Estimate your reserve need. Pick 5,000mAh for a small emergency top-up, 10,000mAh for more travel reserve, or 20,000mAh when several devices or higher-power equipment justify the added mass. These are rated capacities, not guaranteed delivered energy.
- Write down the device requirements. Record the phone, tablet, camera or laptop’s input wattage and supported protocols. Include whether it supports Qi2 or magnetic alignment if wireless charging matters.
- Check the port arrangement. Decide whether you need two USB-C ports, an integrated cable, simultaneous charging or a single wired connection. Do not assume undocumented pass-through or multi-device behavior.
- Compare the exact SKU. Confirm dimensions, weight, regional model number, protocol list and port limits on the manufacturer’s page or packaging. This is especially important for similarly named regional products.
- Plan the cable. Use a cable rated for the negotiated power and long enough for your normal use. Pack a spare if the bank has a permanently attached lead.
- Check travel rules before flying. Airlines and security authorities commonly apply watt-hour limits and require spare lithium batteries to remain in carry-on baggage, but rules vary by carrier and jurisdiction. Check your airline’s current policy using the bank’s stated watt-hours or the voltage and mAh information on its label.

Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
Calling the highest mAh “the most compact”
Always place capacity beside dimensions and weight. A 20,000mAh, 480g unit can be excellent for a laptop trip and still be a poor pocket choice.

Assuming the maximum wattage is guaranteed
Actual draw depends on the device, cable, protocol negotiation, temperature and battery state. Treat the printed wattage as a ceiling under supported conditions.
Ignoring regional model differences
Product names can cover multiple revisions. Match the exact model number, port layout and dimensions to the page for your market, particularly for the regional 10,000mAh listing.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Confusing wireless and wired ratings
A bank’s 20W USB-C figure does not describe its Qi2 wireless output. Keep the two connection methods separate when checking compatibility and expectations.
Using an unsuitable cable
A cable that fits physically may not support the current or protocol needed for fast charging. Use a cable specified for your device and bank, and replace one that becomes hot, frayed or intermittent.
What independent evidence does—and does not—show
Tom’s Guide’s September 16, 2026 roundup reports hands-on travel recommendations and lists a UGREEN 12,000mAh model at 100W, 10.9oz and 4.5 × 1.8 × 1.8 inches. The surfaced information does not show the full test methodology, so that recommendation should be treated as Tom’s Guide’s editorial assessment, not a directly comparable result with the manufacturer specifications above.
No cited source supplies a controlled comparison of charge time, usable capacity, conversion efficiency, thermal performance, long-term durability or value. Prices, stock and regional availability also change and were not established here. Recheck the manufacturer’s current specification and the seller’s exact SKU immediately before purchase.
The Bottom Line
For the lightest wired carry, the 100g Anker A1653 is the clearest fit; for a thinner 10,000mAh reserve with an integrated cable, consider Nitecore’s 160g POCKET 10000; and for magnetic convenience, Anker’s 122g Nano MagGo Slim 5K targets compatible phones. Move to a 20,000mAh, 130W bank only when your tablet, camera or laptop justifies carrying 480g. In every case, verify the exact device, cable and charging protocol instead of treating the advertised wattage as a guaranteed speed.
