Best overall for a truly small PC desk: Razer Leviathan V2 X. Best for multiple inputs and console routing: Creative Sound Blaster Katana V2X. Best without a separate subwoofer: Creative Sound Blaster Katana SE. Creative’s GS5 is a budget option with useful ports but a surprisingly large desktop footprint, while the Stage Pro makes more sense in a room or TV setup than beside a monitor. The right choice depends first on clearance and connection paths, not RGB lighting.

| Creative Stage Pro | 550 × 112.1 × 80.7 mm | Separate 115 × 265 × 420 mm subwoofer | USB-C audio, HDMI ARC, optical, AUX, Bluetooth 5.3 | Loud, room-oriented use where floor space is available |
Dimensions are listed by the manufacturers or the cited reviews. The Katana SE figures come from indexed official material; check the current regional product page before ordering. “Compact” does not mean monitor-sized: depth, stand clearance and the subwoofer’s footprint can matter more than width.

What to measure before buying
Width under the display
Measure the clear horizontal space between the monitor stand, speakers, desk edges and any control panels. Leave room for cables and buttons rather than treating the panel’s nominal width as the available space. The 400 mm Leviathan V2 X is the shortest bar in this comparison. The other bars are 510–650 mm wide, so a soundbar that looks compact in a living-room photo may dominate a narrow desk.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Height and depth
Check whether the bar blocks the bottom edge of the display, an infrared receiver or the monitor stand’s lowest position. Depth is especially easy to overlook: the GS5 is 82.6 mm deep, and the Stage Pro is 80.7 mm deep before its subwoofer is considered. A deep bar can push the display forward or collide with a keyboard, laptop dock or desk shelf.

Space for a subwoofer
An all-in-one bar is not automatically the best choice if you want strong low-frequency impact, but it is easier to place. The Katana V2X and Stage Pro add a separate subwoofer; the latter’s published enclosure is 115 × 265 × 420 mm. Plan a stable floor or shelf location, a power outlet and a cable route. Creative describes the V2X subwoofer as 40% smaller than the Katana V2 subwoofer, but does not state its dimensions in the cited material.
Connection compatibility: match the bar to the signal path
USB audio for a PC
USB audio is usually the cleanest desktop connection: one cable carries digital audio, and the computer can expose the bar as an output device. The Leviathan V2 X also draws power over USB-C, so the source must provide enough power for its stated performance. Razer quotes 90 dB at 1 m, dependent on power delivered by the source.
The Katana models, GS5 and Stage Pro list USB audio, but the exact computer behavior depends on the operating system and the supplied cable. After connecting, select the soundbar in the operating system’s output list and in each game or chat application that has its own audio selector.

HDMI ARC is a return-audio path from a compatible television or monitor to the soundbar. A common arrangement is console HDMI output to the display, then the display’s HDMI ARC/eARC port to the bar’s HDMI ARC input. This keeps the console connected to the display while the display sends sound to the bar.
ARC does not mean that every console can connect directly to every bar through HDMI. Confirm that the display has an ARC-labeled port, enable HDMI-CEC or the manufacturer’s equivalent if required, and select the bar as the display’s audio output. If the display has no ARC port, use optical, analog audio or a different routing device supported by the exact equipment.

Optical and analog connections
Optical is useful when a television or console setup exposes an optical output and you want a dedicated digital link. AUX or 3.5 mm analog works with devices that provide a headphone or line output, but volume control and noise performance can vary by source. The Katana V2X, Katana SE, GS5 and Stage Pro all list optical and/or analog options as shown in the table; the Leviathan V2 X is the USB/Bluetooth-focused model.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is convenient for a phone, tablet or music player, but it adds wireless latency that can be noticeable in games. Razer’s FAQ specifically identifies phones and Nintendo Switch as Bluetooth devices for the Leviathan V2 X. That does not establish direct wired USB compatibility with PlayStation 5 or Xbox consoles. Treat Bluetooth as a secondary source unless your gaming device and latency tolerance make it acceptable.
Model-by-model guidance
Razer Leviathan V2 X: the smallest PC-first choice
Choose the Leviathan V2 X when desk width is the limiting factor and your main source is a compatible PC. Razer describes a 400 mm bar with two full-range drivers and two passive radiators, powered and fed audio through one USB Type-C cable. The company calls it the most compact soundbar in its Leviathan V2 range and says it is designed to fit beneath a monitor; that is a vendor description, not an independent listening measurement.
Bluetooth 5.0 lets you switch between a PC and a mobile device, and Razer’s FAQ names Nintendo Switch as a Bluetooth source. The available official evidence does not show a direct wired USB path for PS5 or Xbox, so do not buy it on the assumption that a console’s USB port will work. For a console, verify a supported Bluetooth or display-based route before purchase.
Creative Sound Blaster Katana V2X: broad inputs with a subwoofer
The Katana V2X is the flexible option when one desk or TV area must handle PC, console and wireless sources. Creative lists USB audio, HDMI ARC, optical, Bluetooth 5.0 and AUX, and describes support for PC plus PlayStation and Xbox families. Those platform statements do not replace checking your exact console-to-display wiring: HDMI ARC depends on the display, while USB behavior can differ by console.

Creative specifies a tri-amplified, five-driver bar with Super X-Fi and 5.1 virtual surround, paired with a compact subwoofer. The extra low-frequency enclosure can produce a fuller setup than an all-in-one bar, but it consumes floor or shelf space and adds another power connection. Treat the sound and surround descriptions as vendor specifications rather than side-by-side test results.
Creative Sound Blaster Katana SE: many connections without a subwoofer box
The Katana SE keeps a wide selection of inputs—USB audio, HDMI ARC, Bluetooth 5.0, optical, headphone output and AUX—while removing the separate subwoofer. Creative describes a four-driver design with Super X-Fi and 5.1 virtual surround. The no-subwoofer layout simplifies placement, but the bar is wider and deeper than the Leviathan V2 X, and Creative’s indexed material notes reduced bass impact versus subwoofer-equipped siblings.
Because the official product page was not available in the cited material, confirm dimensions and current regional specifications on the live page before ordering. It is a good fit for a desk or media console that has room for a long bar but no safe place for a bass enclosure.
Creative Sound Blaster GS5: useful budget connectivity, mixed fidelity
TechRadar’s review, first published in April 2026, found punchy game effects and broad connectivity from the GS5, including USB-C audio, optical, 3.5 mm AUX, Bluetooth 5.3 and a headphone output. The same review criticized overall fidelity and found the chassis too large to sit comfortably on the reviewer’s desk. Use that combination of findings as a warning: a low purchase price does not make a physically large bar a compact solution.
The GS5’s custom sound profiles and advanced app adjustments work on PC through USB. They are not available when the bar is connected to a console or used over Bluetooth, so console buyers should judge it on its default sound and hardware controls rather than assuming the PC software will transfer.

Creative Stage Pro: a larger-room alternative
The Stage Pro is relevant when loud, immersive output matters more than a small desktop footprint. PC Gamer’s review describes strong volume, immersive presentation and useful connectivity, but also calls the unit bulky for desk use. Its separate subwoofer requires substantially more room than any all-in-one bar here.
Use it beside a television, in a larger gaming room or on a wide desk with planned floor space. It is not the sensible pick for a monitor shelf where every centimeter is contested.
How to connect each type of setup
PC-only desk
- Measure the available width, height and depth beneath the monitor, including the stand’s footprint.
- Place the bar so its drivers are not blocked by the display stand or a desk shelf.
- Connect USB audio to the computer. For the Leviathan V2 X, use a USB-C connection that can supply its required power.
- Choose the bar as the operating system’s output and set the same device in your game, voice-chat app and media player where separate selectors exist.
- Use Bluetooth only for secondary devices or when the added latency is acceptable.
Console through a television or ARC-equipped monitor
- Connect the console to an available HDMI input on the display.
- Connect the display’s HDMI ARC port to the soundbar’s HDMI ARC port; ordinary HDMI inputs on the display may not return audio.
- Enable the display’s ARC/CEC audio controls and select external speakers or the soundbar.
- Set the console’s audio output to the display/HDMI path, then test game audio, chat and volume control.
- If ARC is unavailable or unreliable, try optical or analog output supported by both the display and the bar.
PC and console sharing one bar
Prefer a bar with separate USB and HDMI ARC or optical inputs, such as the Katana V2X or Katana SE. Keep the PC on USB and route console sound through the display’s ARC or optical output. Switch inputs on the bar rather than repeatedly unplugging cables. The GS5 and Stage Pro also provide several physical inputs, but the GS5’s software customization remains limited to PC over USB.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Sound and control trade-offs
More drivers, virtual-surround processing and a subwoofer can change the presentation, but the cited material does not provide a controlled, side-by-side listening test for all five models. The strongest independent observations are for the GS5 and Stage Pro: TechRadar reported punchy effects but limited overall fidelity for the GS5, while PC Gamer praised the Stage Pro’s loud, immersive output and connectivity while finding it bulky.

For the Leviathan V2 X and both Katana models, separate the manufacturer’s feature claims—driver counts, Super X-Fi, virtual surround and output figures—from independent performance evidence. A bar’s physical placement, room acoustics and source encoding can have as much practical effect as a gaming mode label.

Prices, availability and value
Review prices are historical context, not live quotations. TechRadar listed the GS5 at $99.99, £74.99 and AU$129.95 in its April 2026 review. PC Gamer listed the Stage Pro at $170 and £130 in its review. Verify current local pricing, stock, taxes and the exact model name before comparing value.
When prices are close, prioritize the connection path and footprint you can actually use. Paying more for a subwoofer-equipped bar is wasted if it cannot fit safely, while saving money on a narrow PC-only bar can become frustrating if you later need HDMI ARC or optical for a console.
Common problems and fixes
The bar fits by width but blocks the monitor
Re-measure height and depth with the monitor at its lowest position. Raise the display only if the stand remains stable, or use a shelf that leaves the bar’s drivers unobstructed. Do not push a deep bar against the display just to clear the keyboard.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteNo sound over HDMI ARC
Confirm that both cables are connected to ports explicitly labeled ARC, select external audio in the display menu, enable CEC if the display requires it, and verify the console is outputting audio through HDMI. Test optical if the display’s ARC implementation remains unreliable.
USB works on the PC but not the console
USB audio support is not universal across consoles. Use the model’s HDMI ARC, optical, AUX or documented Bluetooth route instead, and verify the exact console and display combination before buying. The Leviathan V2 X’s cited evidence does not establish direct wired PS5 or Xbox support.
App controls disappear
Check the active input. For the GS5, TechRadar reports that custom profiles and advanced app adjustments require a PC connection over USB; they do not apply through console connections or Bluetooth.
Bluetooth audio feels late
Use a wired connection for competitive play whenever possible. Reserve Bluetooth for music, handheld play or situations where a small delay is acceptable.
Recommended Free Tools
Bottom line
Pick the Razer Leviathan V2 X when the shortest possible PC bar is the priority and you have a confirmed compatible source. Pick the Creative Sound Blaster Katana V2X when HDMI ARC, optical and USB flexibility justify reserving space for a subwoofer. Pick the Katana SE when you need many inputs but no separate bass box. Consider the GS5 only after accepting its depth and PC-only app controls, and choose the Stage Pro for a room-oriented setup rather than a tightly packed desk.
