1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFor a YouTube channel that loops uploaded videos, StreamNeo is the first service to consider: it runs the stream from the cloud, supports uploaded video up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. For a changing live camera or encoder feed, AWS Elemental MediaLive is the clearly documented managed cloud-encoding option in the sources reviewed. YouTube also lists Gyre for 24/7 streams of prerecorded videos. These services solve different problems, so the best fit depends on whether your source is live or prerecorded.
Which kind of always-on stream are you running?
“Cloud hosting” can mean either encoding a live source in the cloud or continuously playing prerecorded videos. Those are different workflows: a live camera changes in real time and needs a live encoder, while a prerecorded stream can be assembled from files and looped. YouTube’s encoder directory describes AWS Elemental MediaLive as a live-video encoding service and Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos played to YouTube, not a live camera feed.
| Service or approach | Best fit | What the available evidence establishes |

| AWS Elemental MediaLive | Encoding a live camera or other live input in the cloud | AWS describes it as cloud-based live video encoding; YouTube lists it among verified encoders. YouTube’s encoder directory |
| Gyre | Streaming a library of prerecorded YouTube videos continuously | YouTube describes it as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming. YouTube’s encoder directory |

2. AWS Elemental MediaLive for live-source encoding
AWS describes MediaLive as cloud-based live video encoding, and YouTube’s verified-encoder directory includes it. That makes it the strongest documented candidate here when the source is a camera or another changing live feed and you need managed cloud encoding. YouTube’s description of it as “broadcast-grade processing” is the platform directory’s characterization, not an independent reliability test.

AWS documents a monthly option with an annual commitment for 24×7 channels, but the reviewed material does not establish a comparable small-creator monthly cost. A useful estimate depends on region, input and output configuration, runtime, redundancy, and any additional services.
3. Gyre for prerecorded-video loops
YouTube’s encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded YouTube videos without a dedicated PC or camera. That is a direct use-case match for continuously playing an existing video library, but it is not evidence that Gyre encodes a live camera feed. Check its current supported formats, account limits, pricing, recovery behavior, and terms directly before choosing it; the cited directory does not establish those details or provide an independent product test.

4. A general-purpose cloud VM for a DIY pipeline
A virtual machine can host a custom pipeline, but buying compute does not automatically provide a working or resilient YouTube stream. You still need a source, an encoder configured for YouTube’s ingest protocol, process supervision and restart behavior, monitoring, and enough network capacity. The reviewed official sources do not compare VM providers for this use case, so there is no supported basis for naming one as the best.
Choose the ingest workflow before choosing a cloud service
YouTube’s setup flow requires the server URL and stream key in the encoder. YouTube says first-time livestream enablement may take up to 24 hours; after it is enabled, a stream can go live instantly. Keep the stream key private: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your channel. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; verify current platform behavior before relying on an archive for a longer continuous broadcast.

The ingest format matters. An encoder’s general support for HLS or DASH does not by itself demonstrate that it meets YouTube’s specific ingest requirements. YouTube documents these protocol details in its DASH guide and HLS guide.
DASH requirements
- The encoder sends an MPD, initialization segment, and media segments using individual HTTP PUT requests.
- Update the MPD and initialization segment at least every 60 seconds; the target media segment duration is 1–5 seconds.
- Output must use multiplexed ISO BMFF or WebM with both audio and video, closed GOPs, and a GOP size around two seconds and under eight seconds.
- The guide describes combinations including H.264/AAC in MP4 and VP8/VP9 with Vorbis/Opus in WebM.
HLS requirements
- Use muxed M2TS audio and video, H.264 or HEVC video, and AAC audio.
- Use a closed GOP, one encoded resolution and codec, and persistent HTTPS connections.
- YouTube describes HLS as suitable for high quality and resolution at relatively higher latency. Generic HLS playback support is not proof of compatibility with YouTube’s HLS ingest requirements.
What AWS’s broader streaming architecture adds
AWS’s documented live-streaming architecture can use MediaLive to encode, MediaPackage or MediaStore to prepare or originate outputs, and CloudFront to deliver them to viewers. It supports delivery workflows such as HLS, DASH, and CMAF. That is a broader cloud distribution design; if YouTube is the final destination, establish which components are actually needed to create the YouTube ingest feed before adopting the full architecture. AWS’s CloudFront documentation describes live content as video streamed in real time or set up as a 24×7 live channel, but the presence of a 24×7 channel option does not establish that every component is necessary for a creator sending an encoder feed to YouTube.

Costs and reliability: what you can compare
There is no supported universal cheapest or most reliable winner among the named services. The cited sources do not provide same-workload total costs or independent comparative reliability measurements. For an AWS estimate, account for region, runtime, encoding configuration, redundancy, and any packaging, origin, or delivery services you actually use. For a DIY VM, include the engineering and monitoring work as well as compute and networking; for a prerecorded-video service, confirm the current plan limits and recovery terms directly.
Before committing to any option, specify whether the input is live or prerecorded, intended resolution and codec, continuous runtime, redundancy needs, and whether YouTube is the only destination. Ask the provider for a workload-specific estimate rather than comparing unlike headline prices.
DIY cloud setup: operational checklist
A VM-based setup is appropriate only if you can validate and operate the complete pipeline. The exact commands and encoder settings depend on the VM, media source, and ingest protocol; the official YouTube guides linked above define the protocol requirements, rather than a generic copy-and-paste command applying to every workflow.
- Enable YouTube livestreaming. In YouTube Studio, complete the channel’s livestream setup and allow for the possibility that first-time enablement takes up to 24 hours.
- Choose the source and ingest protocol. Decide whether the VM will encode a live input or play prerecorded media. Select a YouTube-supported encoder and configure either DASH or HLS to match YouTube’s protocol-specific requirements.
- Configure the YouTube destination. In the YouTube live control room, obtain the server URL and stream key for the broadcast, then enter both in the encoder. Do not expose the key in public logs, scripts, or support requests.
- Validate the output before leaving it unattended. Confirm YouTube receives audio and video, the selected resolution and codec are correct, the stream remains stable, and any DASH/HLS segment and connection requirements are met.
- Keep the process alive and observable. Configure process supervision and restart behavior, monitor the encoder and network path, and alert on a stopped process or failed ingest. A restart is not a substitute for detecting that the stream has failed.
- Plan for the archive behavior. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. For a longer uninterrupted broadcast, check YouTube’s current handling rather than assuming an archive will be available.
Or let it run in the cloud
For prerecorded videos, StreamNeo’s three steps are: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection can stay off. Video streams as uploaded up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; after that, the Monthly option is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
Troubleshooting an always-on YouTube stream
- You cannot start a first stream: YouTube says initial livestream enablement may take up to 24 hours. Wait for enablement to complete before diagnosing the encoder.
- YouTube does not receive the feed: Check that the encoder has the correct server URL and stream key for the intended broadcast, and verify that the selected ingest protocol is implemented as YouTube requires.
- The stream connects but video or audio is missing: Validate that the output includes both audio and video and uses a supported protocol/container and codec combination. For DASH, the cited guide specifies multiplexed ISO BMFF or WebM; for HLS, it specifies muxed M2TS with H.264 or HEVC and AAC.
- A DASH stream stalls or falls behind: Check that the MPD and initialization segment are refreshed at least every 60 seconds and that media segment duration targets 1–5 seconds, as specified in YouTube’s guide.
- An HLS stream works elsewhere but not at YouTube: Generic HLS compatibility is not enough. Check YouTube’s requirements for muxed M2TS, codec, closed GOP, single resolution and codec, and persistent HTTPS connections.
- The stream stops when your computer or network goes offline: A local encoder depends on that equipment and connection. Use managed cloud encoding or a purpose-built cloud service if the stream must continue without your local machine.
- A process restarts but the broadcast remains down: A supervisor can restart a process, but the pipeline still needs monitoring for failed ingest, invalid output, or a network problem; verify the feed at YouTube after recovery.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Before streaming a loop or continuous playlist, make sure you have the rights needed to broadcast every video, music track, and other included material on YouTube. A stream key and a technically valid encoder do not grant content rights. Review YouTube’s current copyright and monetization policies for your channel and content; the encoder and ingest documentation cited here does not determine whether a particular video is permitted or eligible for monetization.
