Best Camera Phones to Buy Instead of the Samsung Galaxy A58 (2026 Guide)

The Samsung Galaxy A58 could not be verified on an authoritative Samsung product page as of October 18, 2026, so buying advice based on its supposed camera hardware, price or release date would be guesswork. For a dependable camera phone today, choose the iPhone 17 Pro Max for the best photo-and-video balance, the Galaxy S26 Ultra for zoom and low-light work, the Google Pixel 10a for the lowest-cost computational photography, or the Xiaomi 15 Ultra for specialist hardware, native focal lengths and RAW shooting.

Quick answer: which phone should replace the Galaxy A58?

There is no confirmed Galaxy A58 specification sheet to use as a fair baseline. The four alternatives below are therefore selected by camera outcome rather than by an unverified price or megapixel comparison.

Best for Phone What the published evidence supports Main compromise
Balanced photography and video Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max 48MP main, 48MP 4x telephoto, 48MP ultrawide and 18MP front camera; TechRadar calls it the best overall camera phone in its September 11, 2026 guide. It is a premium phone, and the overall ranking does not mean it wins every individual camera category.
Zoom and low light Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra 200MP f/1.4 main, 50MP 5x telephoto, 10MP 3x telephoto and 50MP ultrawide; Tom’s Guide reports less noise and sharper textures at high magnification in its testing. Its advantages matter most to people who actually use telephoto lenses and night modes.
Budget computational photography Google Pixel 10a 48MP main, 13MP 120-degree ultrawide and 13MP selfie camera; released in March 2026 and described by TechRadar as producing photographs resembling those from Pro Pixel phones. No dedicated telephoto camera is listed, so distant subjects rely on digital crop and processing.
Specialist hardware and RAW Xiaomi 15 Ultra 1-inch 50MP LYT-900 main sensor, 200MP 100mm-equivalent ultra-telephoto, 50MP 70mm floating telephoto, 50MP 14mm ultrawide, Leica Summilux optics, 16-bit UltraRAW and 8K recording. Country-specific sales channels must be checked; the cited specification page does not establish local retail availability.

If you want one uncomplicated recommendation, buy the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Choose the Galaxy S26 Ultra when distant detail, night scenes or two telephoto perspectives are more important than a neutral overall ranking. Choose the Pixel 10a when the purchase budget is the deciding factor. Choose the Xiaomi 15 Ultra only when its hardware flexibility and RAW workflow justify checking import, warranty and network compatibility.

Why the Galaxy A58 is not a reliable comparison point yet

An authoritative Galaxy A58 product page, camera specification list and current price could not be confirmed for this article’s October 2026 publication date. That means claims such as “the A58 has a 50MP camera,” “it costs less than a flagship,” or “this alternative is twice as good” would be assumptions, not established facts.

Listings can appear under different names, regions or retailer descriptions, and an unofficial page may combine specifications from another Galaxy model. Before treating an A58 listing as genuine, check that it is hosted by Samsung for your country and that the model number, camera modules, software support and warranty match the device being sold. If a regional Samsung listing becomes available, reassess this comparison against that official information rather than relying on the unverified claims currently circulating.

How the four alternatives differ in real camera use

Overall rendering and processing

TechRadar’s September 11, 2026 camera-phone guide places the iPhone 17 Pro Max first overall because it balances still photos and video while delivering what the guide describes as excellent image processing. That is an overall judgment: it does not establish that the iPhone produces the brightest night image, the longest zoom or the widest ultrawide image in every scene.

The Pixel 10a’s appeal is computational photography rather than a large collection of lenses. TechRadar says its photographs resemble those from Pro Pixel models, making it a practical choice for people who want automatic exposure, color and HDR decisions without paying flagship prices. Its 48MP main sensor is the listed primary camera; the specification does not include a dedicated telephoto module.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra and Xiaomi 15 Ultra take a more hardware-led approach. The S26 Ultra combines four rear cameras with two telephoto focal lengths. Xiaomi’s specification page lists four native perspectives, including a one-inch main sensor and a 100mm-equivalent ultra-telephoto. More hardware can preserve detail and framing options, but it also gives you more lens choices, processing modes and compatibility details to manage.

Low-light scenes

Tom’s Guide names the Galaxy S26 Ultra its best camera phone overall in a guide dated September 21, 2026, highlighting low-light imaging. Its testing used default camera settings across landscapes, indoor and outdoor scenes, portraits, selfies and every available lens. The guide reports less noise and sharper textures at high magnification than the previous generation in its tested conditions.

That evidence supports the S26 Ultra as the safest pick when night streets, dim interiors and distant subjects are recurring subjects. It does not guarantee identical results in every city or lighting condition. Hold the phone steady, clean the lenses and allow the night-processing exposure to finish; moving people can still blur during a multi-frame night capture.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max remains the more balanced option if low light is only one part of a photo-and-video routine. The Pixel 10a is attractive for automatic night processing at a lower entry point, but the published specifications and guide do not establish flagship-level telephoto performance. Xiaomi’s large main sensor is promising for enthusiasts, although a specification page alone cannot substitute for a local, controlled camera test.

Zoom and distant subjects

For reach, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is the straightforward choice among these four. Its listed cameras include a 50MP 5x telephoto and a 10MP 3x telephoto, so portraits, stage events, sports and travel details can be framed optically at more than one distance. Tom’s Guide specifically identifies the dual telephoto system as a highlight.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the specialist alternative. Its official specifications list a 200MP 100mm-equivalent ultra-telephoto and a 50MP 70mm floating telephoto. Those native focal lengths are useful when you want both a portrait-length view and substantially longer reach without immediately resorting to a digital crop.

The iPhone’s listed 48MP 4x telephoto is a useful middle ground for portraits and moderate distance. The Pixel 10a specification list names only a 48MP main, 13MP ultrawide and 13MP selfie camera, so it is not the right purchase if optical zoom is a central requirement.

Ultrawide photography

The iPhone 17 Pro Max and Galaxy S26 Ultra each list a 48MP and 50MP ultrawide camera respectively. The Pixel 10a lists a 13MP ultrawide with a 120-degree field of view. Xiaomi lists a 50MP 14mm-equivalent ultrawide. Megapixels alone do not determine edge sharpness, distortion control or color matching between lenses, so compare sample images from your region if ultrawide architecture, interiors or group photos matter.

Video, stabilization and front cameras

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is the strongest choice when video is as important as still photography because TechRadar’s overall recommendation explicitly weighs both. Its listed front camera is 18MP. The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera distinction includes Horizontal Lock video, according to Tom’s Guide, a feature aimed at keeping footage level when the phone rotates or tilts during recording.

Xiaomi’s manufacturer specification confirms 8K video recording and 16-bit UltraRAW support, which suits creators who want high-resolution capture and extensive post-processing. A recording mode’s availability can depend on resolution, frame rate, lens and storage conditions; confirm the exact combination in the camera application before planning a production.

The Pixel 10a’s published camera specification emphasizes still-camera hardware and does not provide a comparable list of video frame rates or stabilization modes. Buy it for easy computational stills, not on the assumption that it matches the video toolset of the premium models.

Phone-by-phone buying advice

Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max: the safest all-round replacement

TechRadar’s September 11, 2026 guide ranks the iPhone 17 Pro Max as its best camera phone overall, citing a great camera system for photos and video and excellent image processing. The listed system is:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • 48MP main camera
  • 48MP 4x telephoto
  • 48MP ultrawide
  • 18MP front camera

This configuration makes sense for a household that photographs children, pets, food, travel and events, then records video of the same subjects. You get high-resolution rear cameras across the main, telephoto and ultrawide roles rather than a phone optimized around only one specialty.

Pick it when you want consistent automatic results and a mature video-first experience without learning a specialist RAW workflow. Do not pick it solely because it is labeled “best overall”: the cited ranking is a balance judgment, not proof that it has the longest zoom or the lowest noise in every test.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: the zoom and night specialist

Tom’s Guide’s September 21, 2026 guide calls the Galaxy S26 Ultra the best camera phone it tested, highlighting low-light imaging, Horizontal Lock video and its dual telephoto cameras. The listed rear hardware is:

  • 200MP main camera at f/1.4
  • 50MP 5x telephoto
  • 10MP 3x telephoto
  • 50MP ultrawide

Its advantage is coverage. A 3x lens can handle many portraits and nearby details, while a 5x lens is better suited to subjects that would look small or soft through a main-camera crop. Tom’s Guide’s method used each available lens at default settings across indoor, outdoor, landscape, portrait and selfie scenes, so the low-light and high-magnification comments are tied to that test setup.

Buy this model if you regularly photograph the moon, architecture, performers, wildlife or nighttime streets from a distance. If you mostly take daytime snapshots at one focal length, you may pay for flexibility you rarely use.

Google Pixel 10a: the budget camera choice

TechRadar names the Pixel 10a its best budget camera phone. It released in March 2026, and the listed cameras are a 48MP main, 13MP 120-degree ultrawide and 13MP selfie camera. TechRadar says the photographs look like those from Pro Pixel phones, which is a strong endorsement of its automatic processing at a lower price tier.

The Pixel 10a is the logical replacement when your priorities are point-and-shoot HDR, skin tones, night snapshots and a low purchase price. Its wide-angle camera also gives you a practical option for rooms and groups. The absence of a listed telephoto camera is the decisive limitation: zooming into a distant subject means cropping the main sensor’s image, not switching to a dedicated long lens.

Check local stock and the exact storage configuration before purchase. A “budget” label describes its position relative to premium flagships; it does not establish a universal currency price, and the cited guide’s purchase path does not guarantee availability in every country.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra: the enthusiast’s camera platform

Xiaomi’s official specification page lists a 1-inch 50MP LYT-900 main sensor with a 23mm-equivalent lens, a 200MP 100mm-equivalent ultra-telephoto, a 50MP 70mm floating telephoto and a 50MP 14mm ultrawide. The system uses Leica Summilux optics, supports 16-bit UltraRAW and records 8K video.

  • Long-Lasting Battery & Convenient Features: 5000mAh large-capacity battery supports all-day use without frequent charging. Type-C charging port for fast and stable charging; supports Face Unlock for quick and secure access, plus OTG function for easy connection to external devices.
  • Complete Package & User-Friendly: The package includes smartphone, charger, Type-C cable, earphone, screen protector, phone case, SIM card ejector pin, English manual and OTG adapter. Ready to use right out of the box, perfect for daily use and travel.

The one-inch main sensor and multiple native focal lengths make this the most hardware-flexible choice in the shortlist. A photographer can shoot a wide environmental scene, a normal perspective, a portrait-length subject and a distant detail without depending entirely on digital enlargement. UltraRAW is useful when exposure, color and highlight recovery will be handled later on a computer or tablet.

This is not the automatic recommendation for every buyer. The cited page does not establish retail or affiliate availability in your country, so confirm the seller, warranty, supported 4G/5G bands, charging hardware and software language before importing one. Also verify that the local camera application exposes the RAW and 8K modes you intend to use.

Choose by the photographs you actually take

For family, travel and everyday mixed shooting

Select the iPhone 17 Pro Max when you alternate between stills and video and want the fewest compromises. Its overall ranking is the only evidence-based recommendation in this group that explicitly combines those two uses.

For concerts, wildlife and distant details

Select the Galaxy S26 Ultra for two dedicated telephoto cameras, or the Xiaomi 15 Ultra if you specifically want a 100mm-equivalent ultra-telephoto and RAW control. The Samsung is the simpler mainstream purchase; Xiaomi requires more diligence about regional distribution.

For children, pets and quick night snapshots on a tighter budget

Select the Pixel 10a. Its value comes from the processing associated with Pixel phones, not from a large lens array. Keep your expectations realistic for zoom and advanced video.

For manual editing and large-sensor experimentation

Select the Xiaomi 15 Ultra if 16-bit UltraRAW, a one-inch main sensor and several native focal lengths are central to your workflow. Ensure your editing software can open the files and that you have enough storage for 8K and RAW footage.

What to check before ordering

  1. Verify the exact model and region. Use the manufacturer’s country-specific page or an authorized retailer. This is especially important if a listing calls itself a Galaxy A58, because an official A58 page was not confirmed at the time of writing.
  2. Confirm every camera module. Read the specification line for main, ultrawide, telephoto and front cameras. Do not infer a telephoto lens from a high megapixel count.
  3. Check network and software compatibility. Imported phones can have different 4G/5G bands, regional firmware, language options, emergency-call behavior or update schedules.
  4. Check warranty and returns. A camera phone is difficult to evaluate from a listing photo. Make sure defects, dead pixels, lens damage and battery problems can be returned to a seller that serves your country.
  5. Confirm storage for your shooting style. 8K video and 16-bit RAW consume substantially more space than ordinary JPEG or HEIF photos. Choose capacity before you place the order because some phones do not provide expandable storage.
  6. Test the lenses after setup. Photograph a detailed subject in daylight, an indoor scene, a portrait and a distant object with every lens. Check focus, lens switching, color consistency and stabilization before the return window closes.

iPhone or Android for photography?

The choice is less about a universal winner than about the camera workflow you prefer. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is the evidence-backed all-rounder for stills and video. Android gives you the other three distinct paths in this shortlist: Samsung’s long-range and low-light emphasis, Pixel’s computational value and Xiaomi’s specialist sensor and RAW controls.

Choose iPhone if your household already uses Apple’s devices, you prioritize video alongside photographs, or you want the overall balance identified by TechRadar. Choose Android if optical zoom, a lower-cost camera experience, manual controls, RAW files or a particular Google, Samsung or Xiaomi software ecosystem matters more.

Moving between platforms can affect photo backup, editing applications, messaging formats, watch compatibility and accessory purchases. Decide those costs before comparing camera samples; a small difference in image rendering may matter less than a workflow that makes you stop using the camera.

Common buying mistakes

  • Trusting an unverified A58 listing. Without an authoritative page, you cannot know whether the advertised camera, price or release information belongs to the intended model.
  • Equating megapixels with image quality. Sensor size, lens quality, stabilization and processing affect the final photograph. The 200MP figures on the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Xiaomi’s telephoto do not by themselves guarantee superior results in every scene.
  • Buying a budget phone for a zoom-heavy hobby. The Pixel 10a’s listed cameras do not include a dedicated telephoto lens. Select Samsung or Xiaomi instead when distance is a regular subject.
  • Assuming every advertised video mode works on every lens. Resolution, frame rate, stabilization and lens availability can change by mode. Verify the combination in the camera app.
  • Ignoring local availability. Xiaomi’s official specifications establish hardware, not a guaranteed retail channel, warranty or network fit in your country.
  • Comparing samples made with different settings. Night mode, HDR, focal length and software versions can change the result. For a fair personal test, use the same scene, lighting and default settings across phones.

Bottom line

Because the Samsung Galaxy A58 has no confirmed authoritative specification or price here, it should not anchor a camera-phone purchase. Buy the iPhone 17 Pro Max for the strongest all-round blend of photographs and video; the Galaxy S26 Ultra for tested low-light and dual-telephoto flexibility; the Pixel 10a for affordable computational photography; or the Xiaomi 15 Ultra for a one-inch sensor, multiple native focal lengths, UltraRAW and 8K. Recheck official regional listings, warranty terms and current stock immediately before paying.
