The policy says there are no store drop-off fees in California, Connecticut and Hawaii. For TVs up to 50 inches in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan, it lists a $29.99 fee with a $30 Best Buy gift card reimbursement. These state provisions do not guarantee that a particular store will accept TVs: Best Buy’s recycling FAQ says Connecticut and Pennsylvania stores do not accept TVs or monitors. Confirm local acceptance and current terms before going.
What limits and store exceptions should you check?
- Best Buy lists a limit of two TVs per household per day. Its FAQ describes the cap as two total TVs or computer monitors per household per day.
- Connecticut and Pennsylvania stores do not accept TVs or monitors, according to the FAQ.
- Outlet stores do not accept electronics recycling.
- Store participation and state rules can affect whether the listed size and fee policy applies at your location.
Check the chosen store’s current eligibility before loading a TV. A listed fee or state exception is not confirmation that a specific location accepts the item.

What if the TV is too large for in-store recycling?
Best Buy offers two haul-away paths, with different conditions. Check the current TV and appliance haul-away terms and, for delivery-related eligibility, its TV delivery information.
Haul-away with a qualifying replacement delivery
Best Buy lists haul-away at $49.99 when an eligible replacement product is delivered. A new TV purchase alone does not establish eligibility: the service depends on the order and delivery configuration. Some configurations may require a separate order, and CRT or rear-projection sets may incur additional fees.

Standalone haul-away
Without a replacement purchase, Best Buy lists a $199.99 standalone service for pickup of up to two large products, including TVs, plus an unlimited number of select smaller products. Terms and exclusions apply.
Prepare the TV and the removal route
- Disconnect the TV before the team arrives; the service does not include disconnecting or unmounting products.
- Make sure the removal route allows the item to be taken out without disassembly or structural changes.
- Products hauled away cannot be returned.
Best Buy says hauled-away products are processed for recycling by its licensed or trusted recycling partners.

How to choose the right recycling option
- Identify whether the TV is flat-panel or tube, then check its diagonal screen size against the in-store limits.
- Check whether it is an Insignia or Dynex model and review the fee and state rules that apply.
- Confirm that the selected store accepts TVs, and account for the two-item daily household limit.
- If the TV exceeds the in-store size limit or drop-off is unavailable, compare qualifying replacement-delivery haul-away with standalone pickup.
- Verify the final price and eligibility at the store or during checkout before making travel or scheduling plans.
