Short answer: StorageReview’s September 2026 leaderboard names the Dell Pro 7 14 Intel its best overall business laptop. It combines a 2.80-pound tested configuration, strong PCMark 10 productivity performance and a long measured battery result. It is not automatically the best choice for every employee: a 16-inch AMD model is better for sustained CPU work, an HP convertible suits pen-and-touch workflows, and an ARM model requires application-compatibility checks.
The rankings below use independent laboratory results and clearly label each test. Battery figures are lab-loop results, not promises of identical runtime during a workday of meetings, browsers and background security software. Confirm the exact regional SKU, warranty, management features and current configured price before purchasing.

Best overall: Dell Pro 7 14 Intel
The Dell Pro 7 14 Intel is the broadest recommendation when a company wants a conventional, highly portable Windows business notebook with strong management credentials. StorageReview’s tested configuration combines Intel vPro with 64GB of LPDDR5x memory and a Core Ultra 7 366H. That combination targets managed office fleets that need remote administration, firmware controls and enough memory for large browser sessions, collaboration software and local analysis.
Its advantage is balance rather than maximum performance in every workload. StorageReview specifically notes a portability/performance trade-off: sustained CPU-heavy compiling or rendering favors a larger, better-cooled machine. Developers who compile continuously, engineers running long simulations and creators exporting video should therefore examine the 16-inch AMD option instead of assuming that the overall award covers those workloads.
The listed $5,600 figure is the price of the exact single-unit configuration at the time of review. It should not be treated as a current retail quote or as the price of every Pro 7 14 configuration. Obtain a fleet quotation with the desired support term, memory, storage, display and operating-system image.

The Dell Pro 5 14 Intel produced StorageReview’s longest reported PCMark 10 Modern Office result in this group. It is the most logical shortlist candidate for mobile staff who spend much of the day away from outlets, provided the buyer understands what a standardized loop does and does not represent. Video calls, high screen brightness, VPN encryption, external displays and browser-heavy work can all reduce real-world endurance.
Unlike many thin business notebooks, the cited configuration has replaceable 64GB LPCAMM2 memory and a user-accessible Gen5 SSD. Those service points can reduce the cost and downtime of a later upgrade or drive replacement. Confirm that the exact regional build retains those parts; business families often ship with several board and memory options.
Best convertible: HP EliteBook X Flip G1i
The HP EliteBook X Flip G1i is the clear fit when a role needs a laptop, tablet and presentation surface in one device. Its measured battery result was the longest convertible result on StorageReview’s test page. A sales representative can annotate a proposal, a field worker can use touch controls, and a manager can fold the display for a small-group presentation without carrying a separate tablet.

- - Weighs 3.4 lbs. & Measures 0.73" thin - A stable design that fits perfectly in your lap and desk, so you're never tethered to one place. 3-cell, 41 Wh Li-ion polymer battery.
StorageReview listed a three-year HP Wolf Pro Security license in the box and a $1,499 base price at review time. Both details are configuration- and region-sensitive: verify whether the license is included with the SKU you are buying, which edition it covers and whether the quoted price includes the organization’s preferred support plan. A convertible hinge and touch digitizer also add moving parts, so confirm accidental-damage coverage and repair turnaround for a deployed fleet.
Best for sustained CPU work and a large screen: Dell Pro 5 16 AMD
The Dell Pro 5 16 AMD is the specialist choice for employees who benefit from screen area, a numeric keypad and sustained multicore throughput. StorageReview’s 7-Zip result makes it the stronger candidate for repeated compression, code builds, data preparation and other CPU-heavy tasks than the lighter 14-inch winner. The 16-inch WQXGA panel gives spreadsheets and side-by-side windows more usable space, while the keypad helps finance and operations teams enter figures quickly.
Its 64GB standard SODIMM memory is another fleet advantage: SODIMMs are easier to replace or expand than soldered memory, subject to the exact system’s slot and capacity limits. The trade-off is mobility. A 16-inch chassis occupies more bag space and its measured battery result is shorter than the two 14-inch Intel systems above. Choose it for workload and ergonomics, not for frequent airline-tray use.
Best AMD platform: HP EliteBook X G1a
The HP EliteBook X G1a targets buyers who want AMD processing and a local AI accelerator in a premium business design. StorageReview reports a 55 TOPS NPU, 64GB of memory and a 2.8K OLED touch display. The NPU can support compatible on-device AI features without sending every operation to a cloud service, but software support depends on the application and operating-system build; TOPS is a hardware capability figure, not a guarantee of a particular AI experience.
The OLED panel provides high contrast and vivid imagery, yet it is part of the endurance trade-off noted by StorageReview. Employees who prioritize long unplugged sessions may prefer an LCD-based configuration, while designers and executives who value image quality and touch interaction may accept the shorter measured runtime. Check brightness, refresh rate, panel finish and burn-in policy in the exact regional configuration.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Executive thin-and-light: HP EliteBook X G2i
The HP EliteBook X G2i is aimed at executives and frequent travelers who want a very light computer without giving up a high-resolution display. Its 3K 120Hz OLED panel is suited to sharp text, presentations and smooth scrolling, and its 2.4-pound tested weight is the lightest listed among the named thin-and-light results.
Rank #3
- FULL HD IPS DISPLAY - Enjoy vibrant, crystal-clear images with 178-degree wide-viewing angles
- AMD RYZEN 3 30 PROCESSOR - Everyday performance you can count on; Multitask, stream, game casually, and edit photos smoothly with responsive power and vibrant HDR visuals
- ENJOY UP TO 14 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES OF BATTERY LIFE - HP Fast Charge restores battery from 0 to 50% in approximately 45 minutes
- AMD RADEON 610M GRAPHICS - Experience smooth entertainment; Built for streaming and multitasking, enjoy realistic visuals and efficient performance for work and play
- STORAGE AND MEMORY - 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD offers fast speed and efficient storage; and 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM memory boosts performance with higher bandwidth
The screen choice has a practical cost: StorageReview associates the OLED configuration with a shorter reported runtime than lower-resolution Dell Pro clamshells. A buyer who works mostly in documents and email should compare the benefit of OLED contrast against the value of longer runtime and lower power draw. Verify whether the selected panel is glossy, how it behaves under office lighting and whether the organization’s imaging tools support its display drivers.
ARM business option: HP EliteBook 6 G1q
The HP EliteBook 6 G1q pairs Snapdragon X Plus with a 45 TOPS NPU, 32GB of memory and a measured 19-hour-plus battery result. It can be attractive for road workers who value endurance and for organizations beginning to evaluate Windows on ARM.
ARM changes the deployment checklist. Before purchasing a fleet, test every required x86 application, browser extension, VPN client, printer utility, smart-card middleware, security agent, virtual-machine tool and meeting-room peripheral. Native ARM applications generally provide the best experience; emulation can introduce performance, driver or feature limitations. StorageReview explicitly advises validating business applications and peripheral compatibility before deployment. Keep a small pilot group and a rollback image rather than switching an entire organization at once.

An independent alternative perspective: Lenovo ThinkPad X9 15 Aura Edition
RTINGS names the Lenovo ThinkPad X9 15 Aura Edition (2025) its best business laptop. Its review describes around 15 hours of light use, an aluminum chassis, one USB-A port, two USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, an OLED display and an infrared webcam. Those attributes make it a useful comparison for employees who present, dock at a desk and use a mix of legacy USB accessories and modern Thunderbolt equipment.
RTINGS says the smaller 14-inch X9 has a smaller battery and lacks the 15-inch model’s USB-A port. That is a portability and connectivity distinction, not proof that one screen size is universally better. RTINGS’ recommendation also does not by itself establish a particular enterprise-management feature set; confirm vPro or equivalent fleet controls, firmware protections, imaging support and warranty terms for the exact business SKU.
How the laboratory evidence was produced
StorageReview says its ranked systems ran a common suite including PCMark 10 productivity and Modern Office battery, Geekbench 6, Cinebench, 7-Zip, y-cruncher and SSD tests. Its buying rubric considers manageability such as Intel vPro or AMD PRO, firmware security and serviceability in addition to benchmark speed. The page uses reviews from the trailing two years, so the list reflects a current window rather than a permanent product ranking. Prices can move quickly.

RTINGS says it buys laptops to reduce selection bias, uses measurement equipment and performance suites, and has tested more than 180 laptops. TechRadar says its reviewers use laptops as workplace machines, run office software, evaluate webcam and video-call quality and measure battery life. Tom’s Hardware notes that battery results vary with configuration and describes its Dell Pro 5 comparison as MobileMark 30 testing performed in April 2026, with the specific Pro 5 14 and Pro 14 Plus configurations identified in its footnote. These are separate evidence streams; do not sort all runtime numbers into one league table as if the tests were identical.

Choose by the work the laptop must do
Office, browser and collaboration work
Prioritize a comfortable keyboard, a good webcam and microphone system, reliable Wi-Fi, a dock-friendly port layout and enough memory for your organization’s browser and security stack. TechRadar’s general guidance points to at least 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD, but those are starting points rather than hard minimums. A finance analyst with large local datasets or a developer with containers may need substantially more.
Heavy multitasking
Look for 32GB or 64GB when the role routinely combines large spreadsheets, dozens of browser tabs, virtual meetings, local databases and analysis tools. Confirm whether memory is soldered, LPCAMM2 or SODIMM and whether the service manual permits an upgrade. Buying the required capacity at deployment is safer than assuming a later upgrade will be possible.
Sustained CPU, engineering and content work
Short benchmark bursts do not describe an hour-long compile or render. Favor a chassis with stronger cooling and sustained multicore results, even if it weighs more and lasts less on a battery loop. The Dell Pro 5 16 AMD is the named fit in this leaderboard; test your own toolchain, plug-ins and thermal limits before standardizing it.
Graphics and local AI
Check the application’s GPU and NPU support rather than choosing by a marketing label. The HP EliteBook X G1a and HP EliteBook 6 G1q list 55 TOPS and 45 TOPS NPUs respectively, but compatible software, driver support and data-governance requirements determine whether those accelerators matter to your staff.
Compare portability, battery and displays correctly
Start with the employee’s travel pattern: daily train or airplane use, desk-bound work with a dock, or field visits without reliable power. Weight is only one part of portability; charger size, screen format, hinge design and the number of adapters required can change the experience.
Best Value
- [High Speed RAM And Enormous Space] 4GB high-bandwidth RAM to smoothly run multiple applications and browser tabs all at once; 128GB PCIe NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive allows to fast bootup and data transfer
- [Processor] Intel Core i5-13420H Processor (8 Cores, 12 Threads, 12MB Intel Smart Cache, Base at 1.5 GHz, Up to 4.6 GHz Max Turbo Frequency), with Intel UHD Graphics
- [Display] 15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) Display

- [Operating System] Windows 11 Pro - Organize open apps with pre-configured layouts to optimize productivity, Navigate with more intuitive experience to get things done, Collaborate with teams with more features
Use the named test and configuration when comparing battery claims. A PCMark 10 Modern Office loop is repeatable, but a day of camera use, high brightness, VPN traffic and external displays is different. Manufacturer “up to” claims and retailer figures may use other brightness, power and workload settings. Record the battery capacity and charging behavior of the exact SKU during your organization’s pilot.
For displays, decide among standard LCD, OLED, touch and convertible designs based on the role. OLED can improve contrast and presentation quality, while LCD configurations may deliver longer endurance. Resolution and refresh rate also affect power use. Check scaling in the applications employees actually use, especially older line-of-business software.
Business management, security and service life
For a managed fleet, verify the complete platform rather than relying on a family name. Confirm Intel vPro or AMD PRO availability on the exact processor, TPM and firmware protections, remote-management support, secure-boot controls, identity options and the vendor’s enterprise support channel. A consumer configuration of a business-branded model may omit capabilities that IT expects.
Serviceability affects total cost. Ask for the service manual, parts availability and repair process. Determine whether memory and storage are replaceable, whether the battery is accessible, how long parts will be stocked and what the warranty covers. The Dell Pro 5 14’s cited LPCAMM2 and Gen5 SSD access and the Dell Pro 5 16’s SODIMM memory are concrete examples of features worth checking, not assumptions to apply to every model.
Durability and support should match the deployment environment. A three-year security-software inclusion on one HP configuration does not replace a hardware warranty, accidental-damage cover or an on-site repair agreement. Put response time, loaner policy and escalation contacts in the purchasing contract.
Compatibility and purchasing checklist
- Inventory the workload. List required Windows applications, browser extensions, plug-ins, VPNs, printers, smart-card readers, docks, monitors and meeting-room systems. Mark which are CPU-, GPU-, memory- or bandwidth-limited.
- Choose the architecture. Select x86 for maximum legacy compatibility unless a controlled ARM pilot proves every required application and peripheral works. Document any emulation exceptions.
- Set a capacity floor. Use the organization’s measured memory and storage demand. Treat 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD as TechRadar’s general guidance, not a universal specification.
- Match the physical design. Decide between 14-inch mobility, 16-inch workspace, convertible touch, OLED or LCD, numeric keypad and webcam features. Include charger and dock weight in the travel calculation.
- Validate management. Obtain the exact product code and confirm vPro or AMD PRO, TPM, firmware security, remote administration, imaging support and the desired support tier.
- Run a pilot. Image representative units with the company’s security stack, test calls and docks, measure battery during real work and run the longest production compile or analysis job.
- Price the deployed configuration. Request a current quote that includes memory, SSD, display, operating system, warranty, accidental damage, deployment services and any bundled security license. Do not reuse a review-time single-unit price as a fleet budget.
- Plan the lifecycle. Record parts and battery availability, repair turnaround, data-wipe procedures and the replacement schedule before placing the full order.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Ranking different battery tests together: Keep PCMark, MobileMark and light-use results in their original context.
- Buying the lightest model for every role: Sustained CPU work can favor a larger chassis with better cooling.
- Assuming a business label guarantees enterprise features: Verify the processor, firmware, support and management options on the exact SKU.
- Ignoring OLED power and surface behavior: Compare endurance, brightness, reflections and the vendor’s panel policy.
- Deploying ARM without a compatibility pilot: Test line-of-business software, security agents, drivers and peripherals before a fleet rollout.
- Treating benchmark figures as promises: Reproduce critical workloads with the organization’s image, settings and accessories.
- Budgeting from a review price: Review-time prices and configurations change; obtain a current regional quote.
Which business laptop should you buy?
Choose the Dell Pro 7 14 Intel when you need the most balanced, managed 14-inch Windows system and your workload is not dominated by long CPU runs. Choose the Dell Pro 5 14 Intel when outlet-free mobility is the priority and its serviceable memory and SSD matter. Choose the HP EliteBook X Flip G1i for touch, pen and presentation workflows; the Dell Pro 5 16 AMD for sustained multicore work and a numeric keypad; the HP EliteBook X G1a for an AMD/OLED/NPU combination; the HP EliteBook X G2i for executive portability and a high-refresh OLED; and the HP EliteBook 6 G1q only after an ARM compatibility pilot. Use the Lenovo ThinkPad X9 15 Aura Edition as an additional portability and connectivity comparison, not as a substitute for checking your organization’s management requirements.
