Short answer: The Soundcore Life Q20 2024 is the safest low-cost starting point, especially if you want lightweight wireless headphones with useful noise reduction. Choose the Sony WH-CH720N when ear-cup fit and stronger overall isolation matter more than maximum battery life. Choose the JBL Tune 770NC for the longest stated battery life, dual-device Bluetooth and app controls. If your budget can stretch, the Soundcore Space Q45 is RTINGS’ current budget ANC pick, while the CMF Headphone Pro is the durability-focused alternative.
There is no universal “best budget” price: local currency, sales, stock and return policies change the decision. The models below are compared by the things that affect ownership most—fit, noise type, battery conditions, calls, controls and construction—rather than by a single ranking.

What “budget” means for wireless over-ear headphones
“Budget” is relative because the title does not set a currency or spending ceiling. A forum question asking which headphones to buy under ₹6,000 reflects an India-specific buying frame, not a worldwide definition. Check prices in your own market on the day you buy, and treat any guide price as context rather than a promise.
Availability is part of value. RTINGS says its budget recommendations consider price, reader feedback and whether a model is reasonably available; a theoretically excellent headphone that is hard to find or cannot be returned may be a poor practical purchase. None of the models below has a guaranteed price, stock position or fit for every region and head shape.

Detailed model guide
Soundcore Life Q20 2024: the inexpensive starting point
RTINGS names the Life Q20 2024 its best cheap Bluetooth headphone in its 2026 budget wireless guide and its best cheap ANC headphone in its ANC guide. That combination makes it the logical first model to investigate when you want wireless over-ear headphones without moving into higher price bands.
Its strengths are practical: the headphones are lightweight and generally comfortable, and their isolation can compete with the guide’s top pick for some background chatter. That makes them useful in an office, at home or on ordinary public transport when voices are the main annoyance. They are less capable against the deep, continuous rumble produced by aircraft, buses and trains, so do not buy them expecting premium-level engine suppression.
RTINGS also reports more natural call voice from the Life Q20 2024 than from the CMF Headphone Pro. The trade-off is construction: RTINGS describes the Q20 as flimsier than the CMF. Its battery capacity, charging time and codec details were not stated in the reviewed material, so do not treat an unverified number from a retailer listing as a comparable test result.
Sony WH-CH720N: the safer fit and isolation choice
The WH-CH720N is the better comparison point when comfort depends on ear-cup room or when you need stronger general noise isolation. In RTINGS’ direct comparison with the JBL Tune 770NC, Sony’s cups fit more people’s ears, and its overall isolation is better. JBL’s padding is described as softer, however, so “better fit” and “softer feel” are not the same thing.
What Hi-Fi? lists the Sony as an over-ear Bluetooth 5.2 ANC headphone weighing 192 g. Its stated battery figures are up to 35 hours with ANC and Bluetooth enabled, or up to 50 hours with both switched off. Those are different operating conditions, not a head-to-head laboratory result against JBL’s maximum claim.

- JBL Pure Bass Sound: The JBL Tune 720BT features the renowned JBL Pure Bass sound, the same technology that powers the most famous venues all around the world.
- Wireless Bluetooth 5.3 technology: Wirelessly stream high-quality sound from your smartphone without messy cords with the help of the latest Bluetooth technology.

- Hands-free calls with Voice Aware: Easily control your sound and manage your calls from your headphones with the convenient buttons on the ear-cup. Hear your voice while talking, with the help of Voice Aware.
The sound is characterized as lively and bass-forward. That presentation suits listeners who enjoy energetic music, while people seeking a neutral balance may prefer to use EQ where the app or playback device allows it. Sony’s ANC dampens distractions, but What Hi-Fi? does not present it as equivalent to premium models that can make a cabin or train seem silent.
JBL Tune 770NC: the battery and feature pick
The Tune 770NC is the practical choice if you spend long periods away from a charger or regularly move between two devices. JBL says it supports dual Bluetooth device connection, allowing two devices to remain connected, and its JBL Headphones app provides sound customization.

Both figures are manufacturer claims. “Up to 70 hours” is a maximum that can change with ANC, volume, Bluetooth behavior and other settings; it should not be presented as an assured runtime in every mode.
Compared with the Sony WH-CH720N, RTINGS reports softer padding and longer battery life for the JBL, while Sony has stronger overall isolation and more accommodating ear cups. If your ears touch the inside of smaller cups, a long battery will not rescue the fit, so check the retailer’s return terms before opening the package.
Soundcore Space Q45: the stretch-budget ANC option
RTINGS names the Space Q45 its best budget ANC headphone in the 2026 guide and places it around the $100 mark. That is guide context, not a live international price. Taxes, exchange rates, sales and local inventory can move it well above or below that level.

The Q45 belongs on a shortlist when steady environmental noise is your main concern and the Life Q20 2024 is not enough. Compare the current local price with the Sony and JBL rather than assuming that a “budget” label means it will always be cheaper. The reviewed material does not establish a single battery figure, weight or universal comfort result for this model.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →CMF Headphone Pro: the durability-led alternative
RTINGS added the CMF Headphone Pro as its “Durable” pick in a September 2026 update. The justification cites testing of weak points such as hinges that is advertised by the brand. That wording matters: it is not evidence that RTINGS independently ran a full hinge endurance test.
RTINGS reports 46 hours of battery life in its guide and says isolation is not as strong as the Space Q45. The Life Q20 2024 is reported to produce more natural call voice. Choose the CMF when construction confidence is worth prioritizing over the strongest isolation or the least expensive entry price.
Two related models that should not be mistaken for the shortlist
RTINGS’ general budget guide calls the JBL Tune 760NC a call-oriented pick. That finding belongs to the 760NC and should not be transferred automatically to the newer Tune 770NC. The Sony WH-CH520 is described as a budget on-ear option, so it does not provide the over-ear form factor requested here. On-ear pads sit on the ears and change both pressure and isolation.
How to choose by noise, not by the ANC label
Active noise cancellation works best when the unwanted sound is relatively steady and low-pitched. Engine drone is different from nearby conversation, keyboard clicks or sudden announcements. A pair can perform well against one type and poorly against another, and “ANC” never means total silence.

- LONG BATTERY LIFE: With up to 50-hour battery life and quick charging, you’ll have enough power for multi-day road trips and long festival weekends.(USB Type-C Cable included)
- HIGH QUALITY SOUND: Great sound quality customizable to your music preference with EQ Custom on the Sony | Headphones Connect App.
- LIGHT & COMFORTABLE: The lightweight build and swivel earcups gently slip on and off, while the adjustable headband, cushion and soft ear pads give you all-day comfort.
- CRYSTAL CLEAR CALLS: A built-in microphone provides you with hands-free calling. No need to even take your phone from your pocket.
- MULTIPOINT CONNECTION: Quickly switch between two devices at once.
- Voices and office chatter: The Life Q20 2024 is specifically reported to compete well for some background chatter at its price.
- Aircraft, bus or train rumble: Look beyond the cheapest option and consider the Space Q45 or another model with stronger measured low-frequency attenuation. Do not infer performance from the presence of an ANC switch alone.
- Occasional distraction: Passive sealing, music and a comfortable fit may matter more than paying extra for maximum ANC.
- Quiet listening: ANC can be left off to extend battery life, as illustrated by the Sony’s separate 35-hour ANC-on/Bluetooth-on and 50-hour ANC-off/Bluetooth-off claims.
Fit and comfort: the checks that prevent returns
Over-ear comfort depends on cup opening, clamp, headband pressure, pad material, glasses and ear shape. Weight is only one variable. Sony’s 192 g specification is useful context, but it cannot predict whether the headband will create a pressure point after two hours.
- Measure or compare the listed ear-cup dimensions when a retailer provides them; an “over-ear” label does not guarantee that every ear fits inside.
- Put the cups around your ears, not on top of them. If the outer ear touches the driver cover, the model is effectively on-ear for you.
- Wear the headphones for at least 20–30 minutes before deciding. Hot spots and clamp fatigue often appear after the first few minutes.
- Test with glasses, hats or earrings if you normally use them. These can break the seal and reduce both comfort and ANC.
- Keep the packaging until you have confirmed fit, pairing, charging and microphone behavior within the retailer’s return window.
RTINGS’ Sony-versus-JBL comparison gives the clearest model-specific lesson: Sony’s cups accommodate more ears, while JBL’s padding feels softer. Neither statement is a universal comfort verdict.
Battery figures: read the conditions attached
| Model | Published battery information | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Soundcore Life Q20 2024 | Not stated in the reviewed material | Do not fill the gap with an unverified retailer number |
| Sony WH-CH720N | Up to 35 hours with ANC and Bluetooth on; up to 50 hours with both off | What Hi-Fi? figures, 2026; the two modes are not directly comparable |
| JBL Tune 770NC | Up to 70 hours; five minutes of charging for three hours of music | JBL manufacturer maximum and quick-charge claim, not an independent test |
| Soundcore Space Q45 | Not stated in the reviewed material | Check the current regional specification |
| CMF Headphone Pro | 46 hours | RTINGS guide figure, 2026; operating mode is not specified in the reviewed material |
For a fair personal comparison, record battery with the same volume, ANC state, codec and connection pattern. A manufacturer maximum and a reviewer’s measured or reported figure can be useful, but they are not interchangeable.

Sound signature
The Sony WH-CH720N is described as lively and bass-forward. That can make pop, electronic music and films feel energetic, but tonal preference is personal. If you prefer less bass or more midrange presence, use an equalizer in the manufacturer app or your phone, where available. JBL explicitly provides sound customization through the JBL Headphones app.
Calls
RTINGS reports that the Life Q20 2024 produces more natural call voice than the CMF Headphone Pro. That is a comparative review observation, not a guarantee in every room or on every call service. Wind, traffic and microphone placement can change results. The RTINGS call-oriented designation applies to the JBL Tune 760NC, not automatically to the Tune 770NC.
Best Value
- Block the World, Keep the Music: Four built-in mics work together to filter out background noise — whether you're in a packed office, on a crowded commute, or moving through a busy street — so every beat comes through clean and clear. (Not available in AUX-in mode.)
- Two Ways to Hear More: BassUp technology delivers deep, punchy bass and crisp highs in wireless mode — then step it up further by plugging in the included AUX cable to unlock Hi‑Res certified audio for studio-level clarity.
- 40 Hours. 5-Minute Top-Up: With ANC on, a single charge keeps you listening through days of commutes and long-haul flights. Running low? Just 5 minutes plugged in gives you 4 more hours — so you're never stuck waiting.
- Two Devices, Zero Hassle: Stay connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. Audio switches automatically to whichever device needs you — so a call never interrupts your flow, and getting back to your playlist is just as easy. Designed for commuters and remote workers who move smoothly between work and personal listening throughout the day.
- Your Sound, Your Rules: The soundcore app puts everything at your fingertips — dials your ideal EQ with presets or build your own, flip between ANC, Normal, and Transparency modes on the fly, or wind down with built-in white noise. One app, total control.
Two-device use
JBL states that the Tune 770NC supports simultaneous connection to two Bluetooth devices. This is useful if you switch between a laptop and phone, but verify how your operating system handles call priority and media handoff. A device can remain connected without every app switching perfectly.
A purchase checklist
- Set your real ceiling: Convert the maximum you are willing to spend into your local currency and include tax or shipping.
- Decide whether ANC is essential: If you mostly listen indoors, spend first on fit and sound rather than assuming ANC is mandatory.
- Identify your noise: Voices, low engine rumble and sudden sounds require different expectations.
- Check cup size and return rules: A return option is especially valuable when dimensions are not clearly listed.
- Read battery conditions: Record whether a number assumes ANC off, Bluetooth off or another special mode.
- Confirm app and multipoint support: Features can vary by phone operating system and firmware.
- Verify regional stock: The best guide pick is not useful if replacement, warranty or returns are unavailable where you live.
Common buying mistakes and fixes
Choosing by the biggest battery number
The JBL’s “up to 70 hours” is impressive, but it is a maximum claim. Fix the mistake by deciding how you will actually use ANC and by comparing runtime figures only when their conditions match.
Assuming every ANC headphone handles engines equally
The Life Q20 2024 illustrates why the label is insufficient: it is reported to handle some chatter well while managing low engine rumble less effectively. Fix this by matching the model to your dominant noise source.

Smaller cups can create pain, heat and a poor seal even when padding is soft. Sony’s cups fit more people than the JBL Tune 770NC’s in RTINGS’ comparison. Fix this by checking dimensions and using the return window.
Treating a brand durability claim as an independent endurance test
The CMF Headphone Pro’s durable designation includes brand-advertised testing of weak points. Fix the mistake by treating that as supporting information, not as a published independent hinge-life guarantee.
Transferring a review result between model numbers
The call-oriented RTINGS pick is the JBL Tune 760NC, whereas this guide compares the Tune 770NC. Fix the mistake by checking the exact model number on the box and listing.
Which one should you buy?
Start with the Soundcore Life Q20 2024 if you want the least complicated route into wireless over-ear ANC and your main problem is voices or general distraction. Move to the Sony WH-CH720N when fit and stronger overall isolation outrank maximum battery life. Select the JBL Tune 770NC when dual-device connection, app controls and long charging intervals are central to your routine, provided its ear cups fit.
Recommended Free Tools
The Soundcore Space Q45 is the logical stretch option for shoppers prioritizing ANC and willing to check whether its local price remains near RTINGS’ approximately $100 positioning. The CMF Headphone Pro makes sense when the durability-oriented design is more important than matching the Space Q45’s isolation. Check local price, stock, warranty and return terms immediately before ordering; those factors can change which recommendation is genuinely the best value.
