If you want to stream or record console gameplay for less than $150, start with the AVerMedia StreamLine MINI+ for straightforward 1080p60 capture, or consider the AVerMedia Elite Go if portability matters. Those are budget-tier recommendations in AVerMedia’s April 27, 2026 guide—not verified live prices. Check the exact model, current price, stock, and capture specifications before buying; the available price references do not establish what any card costs today.
What a capture card does
A capture card sends video and audio from a console or another source to a computer, where software can record or stream it. It normally sits between the source and the display: the card captures a signal for the computer, while passthrough sends a signal onward to the display. Those are separate functions, and a card’s maximum passthrough resolution is not necessarily its maximum recording or streaming resolution.

Capture cards are useful for console streaming and recording, and can also form part of a dual-PC setup: one computer runs the game while another handles the stream encoding. They are not required for every streaming setup; whether you need one depends on your source, computer, and workflow.

| Card | Why consider it | What the available price evidence says | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| AVerMedia StreamLine MINI+ (GC311G2) | A practical starting point for basic console capture. AVerMedia positions it for 1080p60 capture. | AVerMedia’s April 27, 2026 guide places it under $100. This is the manufacturer’s published budget tier, not a live price check. | Confirm the exact GC311G2 model, its current capture and passthrough modes, computer compatibility, and the final delivered price. |
| AVerMedia Elite Go (GC313Pro) | Consider it when portability is a priority. | AVerMedia’s April 27, 2026 guide places it in the $100–$150 tier. This is not a verified current retail price. | Check the current specification matrix for the capture and passthrough modes you need, plus the exact connection and computer requirements. |
| AVerMedia Live Gamer Mini (GC311) | A compact option named in older budget-card coverage. | Streamlabs listed it historically at $99.99; that figure is not a current price. | Verify that the exact model is still sold, its current specifications and support, and whether the listing fits your budget after shipping and tax. |
| Razer Ripsaw X | A model to investigate if you find a current listing that fits your setup and budget. | Streamlabs listed it historically at $99.99; that figure is not a current price. | Confirm current availability, capture versus passthrough specifications, operating-system support, and final price. |
| NZXT Signal HD60 | Another named model worth checking against current listings and requirements. | Streamlabs listed it historically at $139.99; that figure is not a current price. | Verify stock and specifications for the precise source resolution and refresh rate you plan to use. |
| EVGA XR1 Lite | A possible low-cost lead if an identifiable, supported listing is available. | Streamlabs listed it historically from $56; the amount is not a current price. | Check that the product and seller are legitimate, the model remains available, and manufacturer support and compatibility meet your needs. |
| Mirabox HDMI Video Capture Card | Older coverage names it as a budget option, including for Switch. | Streamlabs historically listed a generic Mirabox capture card at $39.99 and described 1080p/30fps. Neither the listing nor those details establish the specifications or price of a current product. | The generic product name makes exact identification especially important. Verify model, capture resolution and frame rate, compatibility, seller, and return terms. |
Elgato HD60 X appeared at a historical $159 in Streamlabs coverage, so that evidence does not support calling it an under-$150 pick. It may be worth considering only if you verify a current deal below your limit. AVerMedia’s Live Gamer Extreme 3 (GC551G2) is a near-budget comparison rather than a pick under the cap: GamesRadar+ described 4K30 capture, 4K60 HDR passthrough, SDR-only capture, and a listed $169.99 price in 2026. Do not confuse its passthrough ceiling with its capture capability. Elgato’s 4K X is listed for a broad range of sources, including PS5/PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, Switch, Steam Deck, PC, Mac, and iPhone, with USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 and apps including OBS; the available information does not establish an under-$150 price for it.
How to choose the right card
Start with the footage you need to capture
Write down the source’s output resolution and frame rate and the quality you want to record or stream. For a basic 1080p60 setup, the StreamLine MINI+ is the clearest budget-tier lead in the available manufacturer guidance. If you want higher resolutions, HDR capture, or a particular refresh rate, do not infer support from a product name or passthrough figure: confirm the exact capture mode in the manufacturer’s current specification table.

Separate capture from passthrough
Capture describes the signal delivered to the computer for recording or streaming; passthrough describes what the card sends to the display. Look up both separately, including whether HDR and variable refresh rate (VRR) apply to capture, passthrough, or both. Support can depend on the specific resolution and frame-rate combination, software, and operating system. For example, the cited Live Gamer Extreme 3 coverage distinguishes 4K30 capture from 4K60 HDR passthrough and says capture is SDR only.

Check the real price before you commit
A title or older guide saying “under $150” is not proof that a card is currently available below that amount. Streamlabs notes that capture-card prices change with market demand and that its listed amounts reflect the time of publishing or editing. Its historical figures—including $159 for the Elgato HD60 X, $139.99 for the NZXT Signal HD60, $99.99 for the Razer Ripsaw X, $56 and up for the EVGA XR1 Lite, $99.99 for the AVerMedia Live Gamer Mini, and $39.99 for a Mirabox card—are leads for checking, not current offers.

Where StreamNeo fits—and where it does not
StreamNeo is not a capture card and does not capture a console or stream live from a camera. It is a separate option for keeping an uploaded video or playlist live on a YouTube channel 24/7. If that is the goal rather than capturing live gameplay, StreamNeo runs the loop from the cloud: upload a video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start a free StreamNeo day.
