For walking and travel videos, a compact gimbal camera such as the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 keeps the setup mobile. For a desk studio or a camera that can grow with your work, consider an interchangeable-lens model such as the Sony ZV-E10 II. If you also want a camera for still photography, factor in the viewfinder and handling—not just video specs.
Choose by how you record
Before comparing model names, decide whether the camera will stay in one place, move with you, or serve as a photo camera too. Those workflows place different demands on stabilization, framing, lenses and monitoring.

- Fixed-position desk or studio: Prioritize reliable framing, a screen you can see while recording, and a lens that suits the distance between you and the camera. An interchangeable-lens body gives you room to change framing later, but the lens is part of the cost.
- Walking and travel: A compact gimbal camera is designed around mobile footage and quick setup. It is a different proposition from a camera body that accepts interchangeable lenses.
- Video plus still photography: Check how you compose photos. A video-focused body without an electronic viewfinder may be less convenient if you prefer composing through one.
Which budget camera fits each workflow?
| Camera | Best suited to | Video details established by the sources | Trade-offs to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| DJI Osmo Pocket 3 | Walking, travel and compact mobile recording | DJI lists 10-bit HLG video and 4K/120 fps in slow-motion mode; the listed built-in battery is 1300 mAh. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. DJI specifications | Its compact gimbal format is not an interchangeable-lens system. Confirm that its framing and monitoring suit your recording style. |
| Sony ZV-E10 II | Video-focused creators who want an interchangeable-lens camera | DPReview reports 4K/60 oversampled from 5.6K in its comparison with the Canon EOS R50 V. DPReview comparison, published May 30, 2025 | It lacks an electronic viewfinder. Consider that limitation if still photography matters, and account for the lens when budgeting. |
| Canon EOS R50 V | Video-centric buyers comparing interchangeable-lens options | DPReview says its 4K/60 uses a 1.56× center crop, with native 4K capture. DPReview comparison, published May 30, 2025 | The crop affects how wide the shot appears. Check the exact framing you need rather than choosing by the 4K/60 label alone. |
| Nikon Z30 | Creators seeking another interchangeable-lens option | A current expert guide includes it among cameras to consider for YouTube; a detailed primary-spec comparison is not established here. CameraLabs vlogging guide | Verify the specific video modes, lens configuration and monitoring features against your needs before buying. |
| Sony ZV-1F or Canon PowerShot V1 | Creators who prefer a fixed-lens camera over choosing lenses | Current camera guides include these as creator or vlogging options. TechRadar camera guide | Confirm the current model specifications and regional kit; fixed-lens simplicity means less lens flexibility. |
Why 4K/60 does not tell the whole story
A resolution and frame-rate label does not explain how much of the sensor is used or how wide the resulting shot will be. In DPReview’s May 30, 2025 comparison, the Canon EOS R50 V’s 4K/60 mode uses a 1.56× center crop, while the Sony ZV-E10 II’s 4K/60 is oversampled from 5.6K. These are different capture approaches, and the crop can matter if you need a wide desk shot or want to hold the camera at arm’s length.

Account for the whole recording setup
A camera body price alone does not tell you what it will cost to make the video you want. An interchangeable-lens camera needs a lens suited to your distance and field of view. A mobile setup may call for different support or audio arrangements than a fixed desk setup. Check the camera’s monitoring and audio connections for your workflow, and verify compatibility before adding accessories.
Prices and regional stock were not verified, so compare current local listings for the complete kit rather than assuming a body-only price reflects the cost of getting started. Keep the budget for any required lens and compatible accessories in the same calculation.

A quick decision checklist
- Write down the main shot: seated at a desk, handheld while walking, or a mix.
- Check the exact video mode: confirm resolution, frame rate and crop for the mode you will actually use.
- Assess stabilization and framing: make sure the camera’s format and monitoring work for handheld or fixed-position recording as appropriate.
- Decide whether photos matter: if they do, consider whether the camera’s viewfinder and handling suit your still-photo use.
- Price the complete kit locally: include the necessary lens and only accessories confirmed compatible with the camera.
How to narrow the shortlist
Choose the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 for mobile simplicity
Its gimbal-camera format is the clearest fit when compact walking footage is the priority. Its listed video features are useful for comparing modes, but manufacturer specifications do not establish how it will perform in every scene or workflow.

Choose an interchangeable-lens option for room to adapt
The Sony ZV-E10 II and Canon EOS R50 V are relevant video-focused comparisons, especially if you expect to change lenses or recording setups. Compare their 4K/60 framing and the total cost of the body-plus-lens kit; the resolution label alone is not enough to choose between them.

Look beyond video-only priorities if you take photos
The Sony ZV-E10 II’s lack of an electronic viewfinder is a concrete consideration for hybrid use. For the Nikon Z30 and fixed-lens alternatives, verify current specifications and local kit details before treating them as direct substitutes.
