If a 65-inch screen and Fire TV matter more than proven high-end picture performance, the Insignia QF QLED is a credible budget option. Tom’s Guide reported a September 2026 Amazon deal at $349, down from $499. In the same roundup, the TCL M8LF Mini-LED was listed at $479 and the Hisense QD7 Mini-LED at $509 at Best Buy. Those are dated offers, not current price guarantees; compare live prices and the exact model sizes before deciding.
What the Insignia QF offers—and what is not established
Best Buy identifies the model as the Insignia 65-inch Class QF Series QLED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV. Its listing describes quantum-dot color, 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Alexa voice control, Fire TV, Wi-Fi 5 and wall-mount capability. Insignia Support distinguishes the QF’s QLED panel from the more budget-oriented F50’s standard LED, while noting that both offer 4K and Fire TV. These are product and retailer descriptions, not independent picture-quality test results. Best Buy’s product listing is the source for the listed features.

The listing does not establish the exact NS65-UQFL26’s native refresh rate, peak brightness, local-dimming system, input lag or measured HDR performance. QLED describes a color technology; it does not, by itself, tell you whether a television has Mini-LED backlighting, local dimming or especially bright HDR. A separate Tom’s Guide guide to budget-TV backlights advises shoppers to check backlight type, distinguishing direct LED, full-array LED and Mini-LED, and warns that edge-lit sets can appear dim or flat.

Tom’s Guide’s September 2026 deal roundup provides a useful price snapshot, not a permanent ranking. The reported prices and features below apply to the specific 65-inch models described in that roundup.

| Model | Reported price and retailer | Features stated in the cited coverage | What remains important to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Insignia QF Series QLED Fire TV | $349 at Amazon, reduced from $499; reported by Tom’s Guide in September 2026 | 4K QLED, Fire TV; Best Buy’s listing also describes Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and Alexa voice control | Refresh rate, backlight implementation, local dimming, brightness, input lag and HDMI 2.1 support are not established in the cited listing. |
| TCL M8LF Mini-LED Fire TV | $479 at Best Buy; reported by Tom’s Guide in September 2026 | Full-array local dimming, up to 144Hz, four HDMI 2.1 ports, and HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HLG support in the deal description | Check the live price, stock and exact size-specific configuration. |
| Hisense QD7 Mini-LED | $509 at Best Buy; reported by Tom’s Guide in September 2026 | Mini-LED; Tom’s Guide called it its current best-budget-TV pick in that roundup | The roundup says the 65-inch and smaller QD7 sets are 60Hz; the 144Hz rate applies to larger sizes. Verify the exact listing and current offer. |
Tom’s Guide’s September 2026 TV-deals roundup is the source for the dated offers and TCL feature description; its Hisense QD7 deal coverage specifies the size-dependent refresh rate. The TCL and Hisense prices do not prove that either is always the better buy: the Insignia was listed at a lower price, and availability and sale terms can change.
Which one makes sense for you?
Choose the Insignia QF if price and Fire TV are your priorities
The QF’s clearest supported appeal is a 65-inch 4K QLED set with Fire TV and Alexa integration. If you find the exact model at a substantial discount and want that platform, it is a plausible low-cost choice. Treat the $349 figure as a September 2026 reported offer, not a price to expect today. The available listing does not support a confident claim that its motion handling, HDR brightness or gaming performance matches the alternatives.

- 4K Ultra HD (2160p resolution): Enjoy breathtaking HDR10 4K movies and TV shows at 4 times the resolution of Full HD, and upscale your current content to Ultra HD-level picture quality.
- High Dynamic Range: Provides a wide range of color details and sharper contrast, from the brightest whites to the deepest blacks.
- Alexa voice control: The Alexa Voice Remote lets you easily control your entertainment, search across apps, switch inputs, and more using just your voice. Press and hold the voice button and ask Alexa to easily find, launch, and control content, and even switch to cable.
- Access thousands of shows with Fire TV: Watch over 1 million streaming movies and TV episodes with access to thousands of channels, apps and Alexa skills, including Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, YouTube, Apple TV+, Disney+, ESPN+, Sling TV, Paramount+, and other services right from this TV.*
- DTS Virtual-X Sound: An immersive sound format creates a three-dimensional sound experience with your TV’s speakers.
Consider the TCL M8LF if its stated gaming and backlight features matter
The deal description gives the TCL a more explicit feature case for buyers prioritizing local dimming, a high refresh rate or HDMI 2.1 connections: it lists full-array local dimming, up to 144Hz and four HDMI 2.1 ports. Compare the exact 65-inch model and current price rather than assuming every size or listing has the same configuration.

Consider the Hisense QD7 with the 65-inch refresh-rate caveat in mind
The QD7 is the other named Mini-LED step-up option in the dated roundup. Its 65-inch and smaller versions are listed as 60Hz, even though larger sizes reach 144Hz. If you are considering it for gaming or fast motion, compare that size-specific rate with the TCL’s listed 144Hz and confirm the specification on the model you can actually buy.

Keep higher-tier Hisense test results in their proper context
TechRadar’s review of the US-market Hisense U65QF is useful as an example of a more feature-rich Mini-LED tier, but it is not a direct price match or a substitute for testing the Insignia. The U65QF launched in June 2025 with a 65-inch MSRP of $999.99; TechRadar said discounts had brought it below $600 at the time of its review. That review describes QLED Mini-LED, up to 144Hz, Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ support, Fire TV and four HDMI ports, including two HDMI 2.1.
TechRadar measured the U65QF—not the Insignia QF—at 95.6% UHDA-P3 and 71.2% BT.2020, with 2.6 average color-point accuracy. Those figures cannot establish how the Insignia performs. The review is available at TechRadar’s Hisense U65QF review.

- Breathtaking picture: Mini-LED backlighting brings out the rich detail on this 65" flat screen 4K TV, while the QLED screen and Dolby Vision technology create striking color and vivid highlights.

Check these details before ordering
- Confirm the exact model and size. Match the product page to the 65-inch model you intend to buy; specifications can vary across sizes and series.
- Compare live prices and stock. The $349, $479 and $509 figures are September 2026 offers reported by Tom’s Guide, not guaranteed prices today.
- Look up the backlight and refresh rate. Do not infer local dimming, Mini-LED or a high refresh rate from “QLED.” The cited QF listing does not establish those specifications.
- Match gaming features to your devices. Verify HDMI 2.1 port count and refresh rate on the exact television before relying on a gaming claim. The TCL deal description lists four HDMI 2.1 ports and 144Hz; the U65QF review lists two HDMI 2.1 ports. Equivalent details are not established for the QF.
- Consider the interface you will use. The QF and TCL M8LF descriptions identify Fire TV. Whether that platform and Alexa integration suit your household is a preference, not a picture-quality measurement.
- Check mounting requirements if wall-mounting. Best Buy describes the QF as wall-mountable, but the cited listing does not provide a VESA pattern here; confirm fit and mounting requirements before buying a mount.
What this comparison can—and cannot—say
The available product listing and deal coverage establish the QF’s identity, advertised features and a dated price, but do not establish independent lab testing of the exact Insignia NS65-UQFL26. The clearest decision is therefore about verified features and the current price you can actually get—not a measured picture-quality verdict. Samsung’s Q6F is another QLED comparison, but Samsung’s accessed US page showed $599.99 and out-of-stock status; that page view does not establish broader availability. Samsung’s US QLED 4K TV page is the cited listing.
