Some promotions advertised as “free phones” are instead trade-in discounts or bill credits tied to a new line. Check the exact offer terms before treating one as buy one, get one.
What counts as a BOGO phone deal?
A true buy-one-get-one promotion requires buying two devices and grants a qualifying discount or credit on one of them. The second phone may not be free at checkout: the discount can arrive as monthly bill credits over time.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Verizon’s general explanation says the lower-priced phone is the discounted one, both devices are financed, and credits offset some or all of the second phone’s installment. Both devices must be on eligible plans. These are general mechanics, not terms for a specific current promotion; read the individual offer for its conditions. The available evidence does not establish a currently active, device-specific carrier BOGO offer as of October 5, 2026. The following promotions and reports should not be mistaken for verified BOGO deals:

- Xfinity Mobile: Its offer page lists an iPhone promotion for new and existing members that requires a qualifying trade-in, a device payment plan, a Mobile Plus line, and Xfinity Internet. The page states that it ends October 8, 2026. That is a trade-in promotion, not evidence of BOGO. The page also lists a separate $400-off iPhone offer without a trade-in, requiring a Mobile Plus line and device payment plan; it likewise does not establish BOGO. Xfinity Mobile deals
- T-Mobile: A September 28 Tom’s Guide report describes free-phone promotions involving trade-ins, number porting, and qualifying unlimited plans. That secondary report does not establish a current BOGO deal. T-Mobile’s official promotion details could not be independently checked, so specific current terms remain unverified. - Samsung: Its promotions page includes time-limited offers, some of which had expired before October 5. The page notes that eligible trade-in models and credits can change; it does not establish a current carrier BOGO offer. Samsung offers
- AT&T: The accessible offers page did not surface a specific current BOGO device offer. That is not enough to conclude that no AT&T promotion exists. AT&T deals
How to tell whether the second phone is really free
With a bill-credit promotion, you may still owe monthly installments on both devices. The promotional credit reduces the eligible phone’s installment, potentially to zero, but only according to the offer’s terms. Verizon says credits can take one or two billing periods to appear, so the first bill may not show them. Verizon device promotion FAQ

A general carrier FAQ can explain common mechanics, but it is not a substitute for the offer-specific terms.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Compare the full cost, not just the advertised credit
Calculate the total across the entire credit period, not just the advertised device discount. Include device payments, the cost of any required added line and plan, taxes and fees, the value of a required trade-in, and all promotional credits. A large credit may depend on keeping eligible service active for the required period.

Then compare that total with buying unlocked phones at retail and choosing service separately. Keep that option separate from carrier BOGO eligibility: no particular unlocked phone listing, price, or compatibility was verified here, and an unlocked retail purchase does not itself qualify for a carrier’s bill credits.
