The best blog example is the one that shows you how to solve a problem you actually have—whether that is choosing a niche, organizing tutorials, finding a distinctive voice, or connecting content to a business. There is no single universal ranking: a blog can succeed by attracting search traffic, serving customers, demonstrating expertise, or simply giving a community a place to read and connect.
Use the sites below as case studies, not templates to copy. Their designs, teams, platforms, and business models can change, and a roundup’s description is not an independent audit of performance.
How to choose a blog example worth studying
Start with what you want your own blog to do. Shopify’s guide recommends looking at examples for design, layout, post formats, templates, and tone, while its advice also emphasizes writing for audience needs and setting a clear goal. If organic search is your priority, that goal can shape topic and keyword choices; if you already have an email audience, Shopify says to focus on what that audience wants. These are Shopify’s recommendations, not guarantees of results. Shopify’s blog examples guide
- Audience and purpose: Who is the blog for, and what should it help those readers accomplish?
- Organization: Can a first-time visitor find a useful topic, series, or next step?
- Presentation and voice: Does the layout, imagery, and tone suit the material and its readers?
- Format and publishing system: Is the site built around articles, tutorials, newsletters, video, or a mix—and what platform does the publisher use?
- Business model: Is the blog supported by services, products, advertising, affiliate links, or no obvious monetization?
Not every site should be judged on every measure. A company blog may prioritize helping customers, while a personal blog may be valuable for its voice and range. Treat claims about success or traffic in roundups as the publisher’s assessment unless the underlying metric, method, and original source are available.
#1 Best Overall
Blog examples by the lesson they offer
This selection combines examples from Shopify, WPBeginner, Sitebuilderreport, and HubSpot. Their inclusion is not a ranking or proof that one approach will work for every blog. For a much broader discovery list, WPBeginner’s January 6, 2026 roundup organizes examples across marketing, business, lifestyle, food, parenting, health, travel, fashion, technology, careers, DIY, photography, and finance. WPBeginner describes its own resource as offering more than 3,000 tutorials; that is the publisher’s self-description. WPBeginner’s blog examples roundup
For company content and audience-led topics
HubSpot Blog appears in Shopify’s examples, with topics including AI-generated content, sales planning, and marketing plans. Study how a business publication connects topics to readers’ work rather than treating the blog as a stream of announcements. Inside Design by InVision, described in HubSpot’s guide, is aimed at technology, UX, UI, and product-design readers, with design news and workshops. Its organization offers a useful lens on serving several related professional audiences. HubSpot’s guide is a vendor publication, so distinguish its educational examples from its promotion of HubSpot’s own tools. HubSpot’s guide to blog examples
Rank #2
For tutorials and practical education
WPBeginner is a useful case to inspect if your goal is helping readers complete specific tasks. WPBeginner characterizes WordPress blogs in its roundup as often earning through affiliate recommendations and owned products such as themes and plugins. That describes the examples it discusses, not a requirement or universal monetization rule. Look at how tutorial-focused material sets up a problem and guides the reader toward an answer.
For a personal voice and range
A Cup of Jo (also styled Cup of Jo) is included by both Shopify and Sitebuilderreport. Sitebuilderreport describes Joanna Goddard’s site as having grown from a hobby blog into her full-time work, with topics ranging from relationships to travel and contributions from a team. Treat that as the roundup’s account, not an independently verified business history. The useful question to study is how a publication can maintain a recognizable personal sensibility while covering varied subjects. Sitebuilderreport’s blog examples

Rank #3
For a distinctive visual identity
One Magazine is described by Sitebuilderreport as covering fashion and design through ethical and green themes. Mikaela Reuben’s recipe blog is described as colorful, with concise titles, food photography, and whitespace. These examples suggest different ways presentation can reinforce editorial identity; the design still needs to make the content comfortable to read.
For expertise connected to a service
Kelsey O’Halloran is described by Sitebuilderreport as combining a blog about copywriting and business strategy with copywriting services. This is an example of educational content supporting a professional-services business. It is a model to examine, not evidence that publishing a blog will generate clients for every service provider.
Rank #4
For content beyond articles
Ali Abdaal is described by Sitebuilderreport as publishing across a blog, video, podcast, course, and newsletter. Benedict Evans is described as pairing technology analysis with a weekly newsletter. These are useful examples if you are considering how articles relate to other formats and recurring communication; note what each format does for its audience rather than assuming every blog needs to expand into several channels.
For niche and editorial discovery
Moz Blog offers a marketing and search-education lens; TechCrunch a technology-reporting lens; Nomadic Matt a travel-blog lens; and Edutopia an education-content lens. Shopify lists these among its examples. Check their live pages to confirm their current emphasis before using them as models.
Best Value
Other Sitebuilderreport selections offer additional directions: Deem is described as an online journal exploring design in relation to people, brands, and the wider world; Flourist as food content attached to a Shopify store selling flour and grains; and Perplexity Hub as the search engine’s official blog. The roundup also includes examples in food, design, company, lifestyle, self-improvement, technology, and photography, showing why a useful visual reference need not share your niche.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to compare when you inspect a live blog
- Identify the reader and purpose. From the home page and About page, infer who the site is trying to help and what it appears designed to accomplish.
- Trace the navigation. Find a post from the home page, then look for categories, topic hubs, related posts, or other routes to more material. Notice whether the structure fits the content’s breadth.
- Inspect a representative post. Check how the headline sets expectations, how the article is broken into sections, and whether images or examples help explain the subject.
- Look for a consistent editorial voice. Compare a few posts to see whether the tone and format remain recognizable across subjects or authors.
- Note the visible next step. A site may invite a reader to subscribe, browse a store, explore a service, or simply read another piece. Record what is actually present rather than assuming a monetization strategy from appearance alone.
- Recheck volatile details. Designs, ownership, contributors, platforms, and commercial arrangements can change. The roundups cited here were updated or published on different dates, so use the live site to confirm present-day details.
How the examples differ in platform and monetization
Sitebuilderreport’s roundup associates its examples with general-purpose website builders such as Squarespace and Wix, content-management systems such as WordPress, specialist blogging platforms such as Ghost, and sites built with Shopify. These are examples of platform variety, not recommendations; the right system depends on what you need to publish and maintain. Sitebuilderreport’s blog examples
The same roundup describes sites using advertising, affiliate links, product or service sales, as well as examples that are not monetized. A blog does not need to adopt a commercial model to be worthwhile, and the presence of a particular model does not establish that it will produce a return. WPBeginner’s description of affiliate recommendations and owned products is specific to its characterization of the WordPress examples it covers.
Turn inspiration into a plan for your own blog
Choose a small number of examples, each for a different lesson, instead of trying to copy a site wholesale. Shopify advises setting clear goals, building a consistent brand voice, publishing consistently, and examining competitors for content series and industry trends. Adapt those recommendations to the readers you intend to serve: a search-led publication and a blog written for an existing email community have different starting points.

- Choose one example for structure, one for voice or presentation, and one for the relationship between content and its wider purpose.
- Borrow principles—such as clear navigation or a repeatable article format—not another publisher’s identity or business claims.
- Decide whether the blog is primarily for readership, customers, professional authority, community, or another specific purpose before choosing what to measure.
For context, WPBeginner’s January 6, 2026 roundup says more than 43% of websites use WordPress, but the underlying dataset and methodology were not established in the available source material. Do not treat that figure as an independently verified current market share statistic or as a reason by itself to choose a platform. WPBeginner’s blog examples roundup
