Best Bitrate for a 24/7 Fireplace Stream on Indian Home Internet

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a YouTube fireplace stream, start by testing 720p30, H.264, at 8 Mbps if you do not yet know what your home connection can sustain. If the actual upload path stays stable and YouTube’s stream-health checks remain clear, try 1080p30 at 14 Mbps for more detail. Those are YouTube’s recommended H.264 ingest bitrates—not guarantees about Indian internet or uninterrupted streaming. YouTube recommends choosing a quality your connection can reliably support and testing your upload bitrate.

Which bitrate should you use?

Use YouTube’s encoder recommendations as the starting point, then validate them on the connection and equipment that will carry the stream. A home internet plan’s advertised download speed does not tell you whether its upload path can sustain a live stream.

YouTube stream setting Recommended H.264 video bitrate When to consider it
720p30 8 Mbps A cautious initial choice when sustained upload capacity is unknown; test it on your actual connection.
1080p30 14 Mbps More image detail if upload and stream-health tests support the rate.
1080p60 17 Mbps A higher frame rate; usually not the first option to test for a mostly static fire image.

These are YouTube’s published recommended ingestion rates for H.264 at the listed resolutions and frame rates. They are not a measurement of Indian household internet, a minimum ISP-plan speed, or a promise of reliability. A mostly static fireplace scene makes 30 fps a sensible starting point to evaluate, but YouTube does not prescribe 30 fps specifically for fireplace streams.

How to test your home upload path

  1. Check the connection you will actually stream over. Test from the computer or streaming device, on the same wired or Wi-Fi connection and in the same location you plan to use. If you will stream during busy evening hours, include that time in your checks. Other household traffic, Wi-Fi quality, router conditions, ISP routing and power interruptions may affect the result.
  2. Compare sustained upload performance with the target bitrate. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate. Do not treat one speed-test result or the ISP’s advertised download figure as proof that a connection can continuously carry an encoder’s output.
  3. Run a private or unlisted test with representative content. Include the audio and motion you expect in the real stream. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health and messages; it does not specify a required preflight duration for a 24/7 broadcast.
  4. Start at 720p30 and observe the stream. If the connection and YouTube’s status checks remain healthy, try 1080p30 and compare. If you see dropped frames, buffering or warnings, reduce the load or resolve the connection problem before relying on the stream.
  5. Recheck under real operating conditions. A result during a quiet test may not represent a long-running stream when other devices are active or the network is busier. Keep monitoring YouTube’s stream health after launch.

No India-wide household upload-speed figure establishes what every Indian home can sustain. Local ISP, time of day, router, Wi-Fi, competing use, data policy and power conditions vary, so choose based on your own tests rather than a nationwide assumption.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Encoder settings for YouTube Live

  • Video codec: H.264.
  • Rate control: CBR (constant bitrate).
  • Keyframes: every 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds.
  • Audio: AAC or MP3. YouTube’s recommendation for stereo audio is 128 Kbps.
  • Ingest protocol: RTMP or RTMPS. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts delivery through Google’s servers.

Set the encoder to the resolution, frame rate and bitrate you intend to test, then confirm that YouTube receives the stream and reports healthy status before making it public. These encoder values are platform guidance, not a guarantee that a particular router, ISP or computer will maintain them continuously.

Does a low-motion fire need less bitrate?

A mostly static fire may look acceptable at a lower rate in a particular encode, but that is something to test—not an official YouTube recommendation or a verified optimum. Flames still change from frame to frame, and YouTube’s published bitrate recommendations are organized by codec, resolution and frame rate, not by scene type. If you experiment below the recommended rate, judge the actual image and stream health rather than assuming low motion makes the connection reliable.

Do not confuse YouTube Live with Google Cloud’s Live Stream API

Google Cloud’s separate Live Stream API guidance lists H.264 input recommendations of 8 Mbps for 720p25/30 and 20 Mbps for 1080p50/60. Its output ladder separately lists 6 Mbps for 1920×1080p25/30. These API input and transcoded-output figures belong to a different service context and should not replace YouTube Live’s ingest recommendations. The Google Cloud page was last updated 2026-09-24 UTC: Google Cloud Live Stream API best practices.

YouTube’s HLS ingestion documentation describes segment-based delivery that usually has higher latency than RTMP- and WebRTC-based ingestion, alongside additional encoder and format requirements. HLS is not a shortcut for reducing the upload capacity a home connection needs. The documentation was last updated 2026-09-14 UTC: YouTube HLS ingestion requirements.

Keep a 24/7 stream running: DIY or cloud

If you run the stream yourself, the computer, encoder and internet connection must remain available, and you need to watch for interruptions. The bitrate guidance above helps choose an encoder output; it cannot prevent home power, device or network outages.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, then go live. The cloud handles 24/7 looping, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the video as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; the monthly plan is $9.99 per month. Start a free StreamNeo day.
