Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →For a 1080p, 30 fps YouTube Live stream, use 14 Mbps video with H.264 or 10 Mbps video with AV1/H.265, matching the bitrate to the codec your encoder actually sends. YouTube does not specify a separate bitrate for yoga, meditation, or continuous streams. For a typical H.264 setup, 14 Mbps is the recommended video bitrate.
Recommended YouTube Live settings for 1080p30
YouTube’s encoder guidance sets video bitrate by resolution, frame rate, and codec—not by the subject being streamed. Its recommendations for 1080p at 30 fps are:

| Video codec sent to YouTube | Recommended video bitrate |
|---|---|
| H.264 | 14 Mbps |
| AV1 or H.265 | 10 Mbps |
These are video bitrates, not totals that include audio. Use the row for the codec your encoder outputs; do not select 10 Mbps simply because the stream contains mostly still yoga or meditation scenes. YouTube does not publish a genre-specific adjustment. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance does not state a publication date.

Encoder settings that matter
Bitrate mode and keyframes
- Rate control: CBR (constant bitrate).
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds.
Audio
For stereo audio over RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube permits AAC or MP3 and recommends 128 kbps. AAC is a sensible choice when you want broad compatibility. Include the audio bitrate when estimating the total bandwidth your stream needs.

Protocol and color
- Protocol: RTMPS is YouTube’s recommended option; its guidance also covers RTMP.
- SDR color: Rec. 709.
Plan enough upload bandwidth
The stream’s total outgoing bitrate must fit within the available upload capacity. YouTube advises leaving headroom and gives the rule primary stream plus backup stream plus 20%. For one H.264 stream at 14 Mbps video with 128 kbps stereo audio, allow about 17 Mbps of upload capacity when rounded, before accounting for any backup stream. This is a planning estimate based on YouTube’s guidance, not a promise that a connection will remain stable; shared networks and interruptions can still disrupt a live stream. See YouTube’s encoder settings page and its live encoder settings guidance.
For a stream intended to run continuously, consider whether the connection can sustain the outgoing bitrate over time, not just whether a short speed test reaches it. A connection with little spare capacity is more vulnerable to competing traffic or a temporary drop.

Test the stream before relying on it
- Configure the encoder for 1080p at 30 fps and select the bitrate matching its output codec.
- Set CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, stereo audio at 128 kbps, and RTMPS where available. Set SDR color to Rec. 709.
- Run a test using movement and audio representative of the actual program. Still poses alone may not reveal problems that appear during transitions or music.
- Check the stream’s health and listen to and watch the preview for audio and video quality. YouTube advises testing before going live; for an encoder-based event, start the encoder early enough to inspect the Live Control Room preview. See YouTube’s encoder settings and Live Control Room guidance.
- While live, keep monitoring stream health and audiovisual quality rather than assuming that a successful test guarantees an uninterrupted broadcast.
YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish a special 24/7 operating procedure or a distinct continuous-stream bitrate. The settings above are the platform’s encoder recommendations for 1080p30, applied to a continuous stream.

- Stream health reports connection or bitrate trouble: Check that the configured bitrate matches the actual codec and that available upload capacity has enough headroom. Reduce competing upload traffic or lower the stream’s output settings if the connection cannot sustain them.
- Video looks poor despite using the recommended figure: Confirm the encoder is actually sending 1080p30 and using the codec you selected for the bitrate recommendation. Check stream health and assess moving scenes, not only static shots.
- Audio is missing or unsuitable: Verify the encoder’s audio source and stereo output, and check that it is configured for an allowed codec such as AAC or MP3.
- The stream is unstable on a shared connection: Other devices or activity can consume upload capacity. Test under realistic network conditions and preserve the recommended headroom.
