For a new commercial ARK: Survival Ascended server, Nitrado is the only provider with a current ASA-specific plan verified for this guide. Its October 13, 2026 offer page listed $24.99 for 30 days and up to 20 players, but that tier excludes Astraeos and Lost Colony for services purchased after June 22, 2026. The 26-player tier was listed at $32.29 for 30 days and supports all maps. Nitrado also lists PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5 crossplay, CurseForge mod management, and locations across five broad regions.
That establishes plan features and map rules, not a performance ranking. No independent latency, uptime, or support test is available here, so choose a region near your group and verify the current terms at checkout.

What “best” means for an ASA server in 2026
Choosing an ARK: Survival Ascended host is mainly a compatibility and capacity decision. Before comparing prices, establish four facts: which map you will run, how many concurrent players you need, which platforms must connect, and where most players live. A cheap plan that cannot run your map or excludes a member’s platform is not a good value.
#1 Best Overall
- ARK: Survival Ascended has completely recreated and redesigned the artwork and worlds of ARK to take advantage of the latest in videogame technology, Unreal Engine 5, using high-end graphics features such as fully dynamic Global Illumination (“Lumen”), so that light bounces realistically of off surfaces and provides realistic reflections, and advanced mesh streaming (“Nanite”) of hundreds of millions of triangles for extreme detail.
- Advanced new physics systems such as dynamic water so that every creature creates waves, ripples, splashes, and bubbles as they move through fluids, and fully interactive physical foliage where every blade of grass, bush, and tree reacts to characters, explosions, projectiles, and physics objects.
- ARK: Survival Ascended includes access to all of ARK’s worlds, including Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, ARK Genesis Part 1, ARK Genesis Part 2, and more. The Island is released now, with the subsequent expansion worlds to be added at no additional cost on a regular basis.
- Thorough Quality of Life revamps in every area: redesigned User Interfaces, dynamic navigation for intelligent creature pathfinding, Wild Babies, Photo Mode, new Camera systems, new Map system, Tracking System, new Structures and Items, new Creatures, and much more.
- Cross-Platform Modding: Download & play new custom content created by players, including new maps, creatures, items, and game modes, through a dedicated new Mod-bowser directly within the game! Enjoy an endless stream of new ARK content as the creativity and talent of the community is fully unleashed for the first time ever across gaming platforms!
The current evidence supports a precise conclusion rather than a broad performance claim. Nitrado is the only provider for which a current, ASA-specific commercial offer—with published price, slot count, map terms, crossplay information and mod integration—was verified for this article. That does not prove it has the lowest latency, highest uptime or best support in every region. Those outcomes depend on server location, routing, player count, map, mod load and game updates, and were not independently tested.
Studio Wildcard’s 2023 Community Crunch 375 announcement described Nitrado as “the exclusive commercial server host for ARK: Survival Ascended.” That is historical partnership information from 2023, not independent evidence of current contract scope or present-day performance.

| Plan shown | Published price and term | Player capacity | Map availability | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard tier | $24.99 for 30 days | 1–20 players | Maps other than Astraeos and Lost Colony | For services purchased after June 22, 2026, the provider excludes Astraeos and Lost Colony at this capacity. |
| All-maps tier | $32.29 for 30 days | 1–26 players | All maps listed by the provider | This is the minimum listed capacity that includes Astraeos and Lost Colony under the post-cutoff terms. |
| All-maps extended term | $87.19 for 90 days | All-maps tier capacity | All maps listed by the provider | A page-listed 90-day price; verify the live total before paying. |
Nitrado also displays custom configurations from 20 to 200 slots and runtime choices from 3 to 365 days. The page does not establish a single price for every custom combination, so treat those ranges as configuration options rather than a quotation.

- Brand new UK Import PAL version. Game in English. UK PSN store account required to use any online features
Which plan should a small tribe buy?
- Choose the 20-slot plan if your group will use a map other than Astraeos or Lost Colony and 20 concurrent players is sufficient.
- Choose the 26-slot plan if you need Astraeos or Lost Colony under the post-June 22, 2026 rules, or if your group may exceed 20 players.
- Consider a custom configuration only after estimating a realistic peak. Paying for unused slots does not improve a connection by itself.
Map restrictions: the rule most buyers miss
For new services purchased after June 22, 2026, Nitrado’s published terms require at least 26 slots for Astraeos or Lost Colony. The 20-slot offer is therefore not an all-map plan, even though it is advertised for ARK: Survival Ascended. Other maps are supported from the 20-slot tier according to the same offer page.
This is a purchase-time rule, not merely a recommendation. If your group starts on another map and later wants Astraeos or Lost Colony, check whether the dashboard permits an upgrade and whether changing capacity affects the renewal date or configuration. Future maps may receive separate slot requirements; do not assume today’s minimum will apply to every later release.
Map-selection checklist
- Write down the exact map name you intend to run, including any planned move during the paid term.
- Check the plan’s map list immediately before payment.
- If Astraeos or Lost Colony is possible, budget for the 26-slot all-maps tier from the beginning.
- Confirm how a map change is handled and back up or export your save before applying it.
Crossplay between PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5
Nitrado lists crossplay among PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5. That makes it a candidate for a mixed-platform tribe, but “crossplay supported” does not remove the need to check the actual combination you use. Console accounts, privacy settings, server filters, version updates and mod compatibility can still prevent a player from joining.
Before inviting players
- List every platform represented in the tribe and confirm that the server is configured for crossplay rather than a platform-limited mode.
- Have everyone update ARK: Survival Ascended to the same game build before troubleshooting the host.
- Test one PC, one Xbox and one PlayStation 5 connection while the server is empty or lightly populated.
- Record the server name, password and region exactly as displayed; a search filter can hide a correctly running server.
If one platform cannot connect while others can, first compare game versions and crossplay settings. If all platforms fail, check the service status and server state in the provider dashboard before changing individual console settings.
Rank #3
- Ark graphics and worlds are completely recreated and designed to use the latest video game technology, Unreal Engine 5
- Advanced new physical systems such as dynamic water and fully interactive physical leaves
- Design your survivor, shape the trunk and tame, train, multiply and ride dinosaurs in a vivid ecosystem
- Public online mode for up to 70 players, private multiplayer mode for up to 8 players + local split screen for 2 players
Mods and CurseForge management
Nitrado lists integrated CurseForge management, including crossplay mods. Integration can simplify finding and applying supported mods from the hosting panel, but it does not guarantee that every community mod will work immediately after an ASA update.
The provider cautions that community mods may need time to become compatible after game updates. Plan for that delay: a mod that worked yesterday can block startup or prevent clients from joining after the game changes.
A safer mod rollout
- Start with the unmodded server and confirm that every required platform can join.
- Add one or a small, related set of mods through the integrated manager.
- Have a PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 player test the result when crossplay is required.
- Keep a written list of mod names and load order so you can reproduce a working configuration.
- After an ASA update, check each mod’s compatibility before adding more. If the server fails, remove the newest change first and restore the last known-good configuration.
Large mod collections increase download time and the number of possible incompatibilities. Capacity, location and mod stability are separate decisions; a larger slot count does not make an outdated mod compatible.
Choosing a server location for your group
The offer page shows locations in Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Australia. Displayed latency figures on the page are illustrative values, not a guarantee for every player. Select the region that gives the best compromise for the actual group rather than choosing a location because its example number looks low.
Rank #4
For a geographically split tribe, identify where most players are active during the same session. A location close to the majority usually produces a better shared experience than optimizing for one remote member. If the group is evenly divided between continents, test two candidate regions during the cancellation or trial conditions available to you; do not infer real gameplay latency from a provider’s example figure.
Locations displayed by Nitrado
- Europe: Frankfurt and London
- North America: New York City, Miami and Los Angeles
- South America: Sao Paulo
- Asia: Singapore and Tokyo
- Australia: Sydney
Routing can vary by internet service provider and time of day. Ask players to test during the hours they actually play, and record the in-game result rather than relying only on a marketing page estimate.
Hosted service or self-hosting?
Hosting removes the need to keep your own machine online and maintain server software, but it adds a recurring fee and ties your configuration to the provider’s controls. Self-hosting gives you direct access to the machine and network, but you assume responsibility for hardware, operating-system updates, backups, security, power and internet reliability.
The ARK Community Wiki’s setup guidance recommends four logical CPU cores per ASA server instance and favors strong single-thread performance. That is a general recommendation, not a tested minimum specification and not proof that self-hosting will cost less for your situation. A self-hosted machine also needs enough memory and storage for the game, saves and mods, plus upload capacity for the players connecting to it.
Self-hosting is most sensible when
- You already own a reliable machine that can remain online.
- You are comfortable configuring the operating system, firewall, backups and updates.
- Your group is small enough that your home connection can serve everyone consistently.
- You need configuration access that a managed panel does not expose.
A managed host is usually simpler when
- You want a server running without leaving a personal PC on.
- Your players are distributed across regions and need a datacenter location.
- You want a control panel for slots, maps and CurseForge mods instead of maintaining files manually.
- You would rather pay a predictable term fee than troubleshoot hardware and networking.
How to choose and order an ASA server
- Count peak concurrent players. Use the largest number likely to play at the same time, not the total number in your Discord or tribe roster.
- Choose the map first. If Astraeos or Lost Colony is required for a post-June 22, 2026 purchase, select at least 26 slots.
- Confirm platforms. Verify PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 participation and select the crossplay option shown in the current configuration.
- Select a region. Pick the displayed location closest to the group’s center of activity, then test from the players’ actual networks.
- Decide on mods. Begin with a short, essential list and confirm that each mod supports the current ASA build.
- Compare the term total. The observed prices were $24.99 for 30 days at 20 slots, $32.29 for 30 days at 26 slots and $87.19 for 90 days on the all-maps tier. Recheck the live total, taxes and renewal terms.
- Save your configuration. Record the map, slots, region, crossplay setting and mod order before inviting players.
- Run a staged test. Have one player from each platform join, travel through the map, use the planned mods and test at the busiest expected time.
Operational checklist after purchase
First session
- Confirm the server appears in the expected search category and region.
- Connect from every platform represented in the group.
- Check that the selected map loaded and that the world save persists after a restart.
- Add mods gradually rather than installing the entire collection at once.
- Give administrators only the access they need and keep the server password out of public posts.
Every update
- Note the ASA version before updating the server.
- Check mod compatibility and remove or disable mods that have not yet caught up.
- Make a current save backup before changing maps, slots or major settings.
- Test crossplay again, because a game update can affect one platform before another.
Common purchase mistakes and fixes
Buying 20 slots for Astraeos or Lost Colony
Symptom: The desired map is unavailable or the plan cannot be configured for it. Fix: Move to the 26-slot all-maps tier for services covered by the post-June 22, 2026 terms.
Assuming a location’s sample latency is a promise
Symptom: Players in one area see much higher latency than the example on the offer page. Fix: Test another available region from the players’ actual connections and choose based on the group’s measured experience.
Adding mods immediately after an ASA update
Symptom: Startup errors, missing content or clients being rejected. Fix: Return to the last working mod set, check compatibility notices, then reintroduce mods one at a time.
Calling a plan “best” without testing the group’s conditions
Symptom: The plan meets its advertised slot count but feels poor for a particular tribe. Fix: Evaluate region, peak population, map and mod load together. Published features cannot substitute for a real connection test.
What is and is not established about performance
The available evidence establishes Nitrado’s listed prices, capacities, map restriction, crossplay support, CurseForge integration, displayed regions and custom-configuration ranges. It does not establish comparative uptime, packet loss, tick rate, support response times, backup quality or performance under a specific mod pack. Treat those as questions to answer through current service documentation, a short test period where available and reports from players in your region—not as conclusions from the plan table.
Bottom-line buying advice
Godlike.Host is listed first here as an ARK: Survival Ascended game-server option with a Pterodactyl-based game panel, mod tools and up to three free backups a day with restore. For a conventional map and a group of up to 20 concurrent players, the observed $24.99 30-day tier is the lowest listed entry point. For Astraeos, Lost Colony or any group that may exceed 20 players, the observed $32.29 26-slot tier is the safer starting point because it is listed for all maps. Select the datacenter region that best serves your actual players, add mods cautiously, and verify the live terms before payment. The evidence here does not establish comparative performance for every tribe.
