Quick picks for an ASA breeding server
There is no published survey that proves one mod is universally “best.” The practical choice depends on whether your server needs automated inheritance, better stat visibility, storage, building support, or entirely new breedable species. The shortlist below reflects the mods most often surfaced for those jobs, with uncertainty called out where a project page was not independently verified.

| Mod or category | Best use | What it adds | Important limitation or status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Better Breeding (Silentrizz) | Reducing the grind of selective breeding | Guarantees transmission of the highest wild levels and mutations from parents to offspring | Does not transmit post-tame levels; latest recorded main file 5.5-, dated May 26, 2025; compatibility with your current ASA patch must be checked |
| Breeding Assistant (szat74) | Showing useful stats without exposing everything | HUD with a tamed creature’s stats and stat points | Designed for tamed and unconscious creatures, not wild creatures before knockout |
| Awesome SpyGlass! | Full creature inspection | Displays complete stats, levels, and tame information | Frequently recommended by breeding guides; CurseForge ID 928548 was reported, but its project page was not independently verified here |
| Dino Storage v2 | Moving and organizing large breeding lines | Stores creatures as “soul balls,” which is intended to reduce tame counts and server load | Claim and current ASA support were not independently verified |
| Super Cyro Storage | An alternative storage workflow | Described in a Steam discussion as a higher-level engram option | Unverified; test on a copy of the server before adding it to a live cluster |
| Structures Plus (S+) | Breeding bases and automation | Expanded building and utility structures commonly used beside breeding mods | Some features are being incorporated into the base game, so check for overlap and conflicts |
| Additional Creatures 2: Wild ARK | More species to tame and breed | More than 80 reported real-world and prehistoric creatures with taming and breeding | Creature-pack scope rather than a breeding-mechanics overhaul |
| Gryphons (GryphePadar) | Adding gryphons to a breeding roster | Gryphon tames, breeding, and a saddle-crafting station | Confirm current ASA version and map behavior before production use |
| Additions Ascended (Garuga123) | A small curated creature expansion | Seven reported creatures, including Ceratosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and Deinotherium | Not a general breeding assistant; evaluate each added creature’s balance |
Why Better Breeding is the main recommendation
Normal ASA breeding requires repeated pairings, careful stat comparison, and a large amount of time before a line combines the best inherited values and mutations. Better Breeding targets that bottleneck directly. Its defining behavior is guaranteed transmission of the highest wild levels and mutations from the parents to the offspring, making it useful for a server that wants selective breeding to remain part of the game without forcing players through as many low-value generations.
#1 Best Overall
- ARK: Survival Ascended has completely recreated and redesigned the artwork and worlds of ARK to take advantage of the latest in videogame technology, Unreal Engine 5, using high-end graphics features such as fully dynamic Global Illumination (“Lumen”), so that light bounces realistically of off surfaces and provides realistic reflections, and advanced mesh streaming (“Nanite”) of hundreds of millions of triangles for extreme detail.
- Advanced new physics systems such as dynamic water so that every creature creates waves, ripples, splashes, and bubbles as they move through fluids, and fully interactive physical foliage where every blade of grass, bush, and tree reacts to characters, explosions, projectiles, and physics objects.
- ARK: Survival Ascended includes access to all of ARK’s worlds, including Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, ARK Genesis Part 1, ARK Genesis Part 2, and more. The Island is released now, with the subsequent expansion worlds to be added at no additional cost on a regular basis.
- Thorough Quality of Life revamps in every area: redesigned User Interfaces, dynamic navigation for intelligent creature pathfinding, Wild Babies, Photo Mode, new Camera systems, new Map system, Tracking System, new Structures and Items, new Creatures, and much more.
- Cross-Platform Modding: Download & play new custom content created by players, including new maps, creatures, items, and game modes, through a dedicated new Mod-bowser directly within the game! Enjoy an endless stream of new ARK content as the creativity and talent of the community is fully unleashed for the first time ever across gaming platforms!
The distinction between wild and post-tame values matters. The mod does not support transmission of levels gained after taming. A creature that has been leveled through play therefore does not pass those later points as inherited breeding stats. Plan your breeding records around the values the creatures had before player leveling, and explain that rule to players so they do not assume a leveled boss-line animal will transfer every point.
CurseForge listing snapshots place Better Breeding at roughly 2.3 million to more than 2.6 million downloads, with the exact figure varying by snapshot and no year attached to those snapshots. That makes it the most-downloaded breeding-focused option surfaced for this guide, not proof that it is compatible with every current ASA build or that it is the only suitable choice.
Maintenance risk to assess before installing
The recorded main file is version 5.5- from May 26, 2025. Earlier notes identify version 1.12 as a 2024 crossplay release and version 1.13 as a PC release from September 2024. No 2026 update appeared in the available listings. ASA patches can change creature data, mod APIs, save behavior, or crossplay compatibility, so treat the file date as a reason to test, not as a guarantee of failure.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Install the mod on a staging server or a copied save first.
- Test a complete cycle: tame or import parents, breed, inspect offspring, restart the server, and load the save again.
- Check the mod’s current CurseForge file and changelog immediately before deployment, because versions and compatibility can change after this article’s October 14, 2026 information window.
- Keep a clean backup so you can remove the mod or restore the previous save if inherited values, inventories, or creatures behave unexpectedly.
Choose the right stat-information tool
Breeding Assistant: limited visibility by design
Breeding Assistant adds a HUD that shows a tame’s stats and stat points. Its deliberately narrower scope is useful for servers that want players to make informed breeding decisions without revealing every value on a wild creature before the knockout. It is a good fit when taming and appraisal should remain meaningful parts of the progression loop.

- Brand new UK Import PAL version. Game in English. UK PSN store account required to use any online features
Because it is intended for tamed and unconscious creatures, players should not expect it to expose a wild animal’s full breeding information while that animal is still roaming. Set expectations in your server rules and test the HUD with both a conscious tame and an unconscious creature before opening the server to the public.
Awesome SpyGlass!: the information-heavy option
Awesome SpyGlass! is repeatedly recommended in breeding guides for players who want a complete inspection view. The described feature set includes full creature stats, levels, and tame information. That makes it better suited to a competitive breeding community that tracks exact values, but it also reveals more information than a minimalist server may want players to have during exploration or taming.
A CurseForge ID of 928548 was listed in one guide; the project page was not independently verified for this article. Search the ASA CurseForge catalog by the exact project name, confirm the author, and match the file to your server’s platform before placing an ID in production configuration.

Storage and base tools for large breeding operations
Dino Storage v2 and soul-ball workflows
Breeding projects quickly create more creatures than a base can comfortably house. Dino Storage v2 is described as placing creatures into “soul balls,” with the goal of reducing active tame counts and server load while making lines easier to move. That can be valuable when a tribe maintains many breeders, juveniles, or color-mutation candidates.

- Ark graphics and worlds are completely recreated and designed to use the latest video game technology, Unreal Engine 5
- Advanced new physical systems such as dynamic water and fully interactive physical leaves
- Design your survivor, shape the trunk and tame, train, multiply and ride dinosaurs in a vivid ecosystem
- Public online mode for up to 70 players, private multiplayer mode for up to 8 players + local split screen for 2 players
The storage behavior and current ASA support were not independently verified in the available project material. Before adding it, test imprinting, inventories, mating cooldowns, cryopod or soul-ball transitions, and recovery after a server restart. Do not move irreplaceable mutation lines into a new storage system until you have confirmed that the workflow preserves the data your server rules depend on.
Super Cyro Storage
Super Cyro Storage was mentioned in a Steam discussion as a higher-level engram alternative. That is a thinner evidence base than a verified project page, so consider it an experimental choice rather than a default recommendation. Confirm the exact ASA project, author, permissions, and update history before installation.
Structures Plus (S+)
S+ is not a breeding-mechanics mod, but it is commonly installed on breeding servers because expanded structures can make hatcheries, feeding areas, storage rooms, and nursery layouts easier to manage. Some S+ features are being built into the base game. Check your current ASA version for overlapping functionality, then disable redundant features where possible to reduce conflicts and player confusion.
QoL+ and Breeding Ascended also appeared as CurseForge results, but they were not evaluated in depth. Treat them as leads for your own compatibility review, not as established recommendations.

Creature packs that expand what players can breed
Additional Creatures 2: Wild ARK
This pack is reported to add more than 80 real-world and prehistoric creatures with taming and breeding. It is the broadest option in the shortlist for a server whose main goal is variety. A large creature catalog also increases the amount of balance work: verify spawn behavior, saddle availability, breeding timers, stat scaling, and whether the added species fit your map and progression rules.
Gryphons (GryphePadar)
Gryphons adds gryphon tames, breeding, and a saddle-crafting station. It suits a server that wants a distinctive breedable mount rather than dozens of new species. Test the saddle station, movement behavior, breeding output, and map spawns separately from your core breeding stack.
Additions Ascended (Garuga123)
Additions Ascended is reported to include seven creatures, among them Ceratosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and Deinotherium. A smaller roster can be easier to balance than a large creature pack, but each species still needs a test for taming, breeding, imprinting, saddles, and resource drops.

ASA distributes server mods through CurseForge. The server, not each individual player, controls the active list. Use the project’s current CurseForge ID; do not guess an ID from a similarly named mod.
- Back up the save and configuration. Save the world, GameUserSettings.ini, Game.ini, and your launch or panel configuration before changing the mod list.
- Confirm the exact project. In CurseForge’s ARK: Survival Ascended section, verify the project name, author, supported platform, latest file, and compatibility notes. For unverified projects, do not rely on a guide’s ID alone.
- Add IDs to ActiveMods. In GameUserSettings.ini, place the numeric CurseForge IDs in the
ActiveModssetting, using the separator format required by your host. A typical configuration is a comma-separated list such asActiveMods=123456,789012; use your host’s documented syntax if it differs. - Use the panel or launch command when applicable. AMP and Pterodactyl-style hosting panels commonly expose an Active Mods field or toggle. If you manage the server from a launch command, pass the IDs using the command-line option documented by your host and ASA server build.
- Restart fully. Stop the server, allow the process to exit, then start it again. A soft map reload may not apply a changed mod set correctly.
- Join with a test account. Confirm that the server appears modded, the map loads, creatures and structures behave correctly, and the save can be restarted without errors.
- Tell players what to expect. Players do not subscribe manually for a modded ASA server; the game downloads the required mods automatically when they join. They still need enough disk space, time for downloads, and a client version compatible with the server.
Build a mod stack around your server’s rules
Minimal vanilla-plus breeding
- Use Better Breeding for inherited wild levels and mutations.
- Add Breeding Assistant only if players need stat points shown on tamed or unconscious creatures.
- Skip creature packs and large structure overhauls to keep the progression recognizable.
Competitive mutation tracking
- Use Better Breeding as the inheritance rule.
- Choose Awesome SpyGlass! when the community needs complete stat and tame information.
- Publish a rule that post-tame levels are not inherited, and require players to record pre-leveling values.
- Consider storage only after testing recovery and restart behavior with a disposable line.
Large PvE breeding hub
- Combine one breeding mechanic mod with one storage system and, if needed, S+ for base organization.
- Add a creature pack only after checking spawn density, saddles, and server performance.
- Set a limit on active tames, nursery structures, and abandoned juveniles so the convenience mods do not encourage unlimited accumulation.
Creature-collection server
- Choose Additional Creatures 2: Wild ARK for breadth, or Gryphons or Additions Ascended for a smaller thematic expansion.
- Use a stat-information mod only if the server’s rules allow detailed appraisal.
- Keep the breeding mechanic close to vanilla if discovering and learning each new species is the intended challenge.
Compatibility, performance, and rollback checklist
Breeding mods touch creatures, inheritance, inventories, or stat displays. Storage and structure mods touch saves and active-tame counts. Creature packs add spawns and assets. The more categories you combine, the more possible interactions you create.
- Limit the count. Install only the mods that support your server’s stated theme. Stacking many mods increases startup time, memory use, update work, and the chance of conflicting assets.
- Test in isolation. Add the breeding mechanic first, then the stat tool, then storage or structures, and finally creature packs. This order makes it easier to identify the change that caused a problem.
- Check crossplay and platform notes. A file that worked on PC may not have the same support on crossplay or console-connected servers.
- Watch logs and behavior. Look for mod-load errors, missing assets, repeated server restarts, lost inventories, broken breeding timers, or creatures that fail to render.
- Schedule backups before updates. Save backups before changing a mod version, removing a mod, or applying a major ASA patch.
- Remove carefully. A mod that adds creatures or structures can leave references in a save. Follow the author’s removal guidance and test the result on a copy before touching the live world.
Licensing matters for paid servers
Better Breeding is listed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Unported license. A server that charges subscriptions, sells access, or otherwise operates commercially should not assume that free download access permits commercial use. Review the license terms and obtain appropriate permission or choose a project whose license matches your business model before launching a paid service.
For every other mod, read the current project license rather than inferring permission from its availability in CurseForge. Keep author attribution and redistribution requirements with your server documentation, especially if you package configuration files or distribute a mod collection.
Troubleshooting common breeding-server problems
The server starts but the breeding effect is missing
- Confirm the correct project ID and spelling in the server’s ActiveMods setting.
- Check that the mod loaded after the restart rather than only after a panel save.
- Test with a newly bred pair; existing offspring may not be retroactively changed.
- Remove other creature or breeding mods temporarily to identify an interaction.
Players cannot join or download the required files
- Verify that the server and client are running compatible ASA builds.
- Check the host’s mod-download and firewall settings.
- Ask the player to allow the automatic download to finish before reconnecting.
- Compare the server’s active ID list with the list reported by the client connection screen.
Stats look different from the player’s records
- Determine whether the recorded value was wild, post-tame, or gained through leveling.
- With Better Breeding, compare pre-leveling parent values because post-tame levels are outside its supported transmission behavior.
- Use one stat tool consistently across the server; different HUDs may present information in different formats.
The server becomes unstable after adding storage or structures
- Restore the pre-install backup on a staging server.
- Test storage transfers, inventories, imprinting, and restarts with disposable creatures.
- Keep the breeding mechanic separate from the storage test until both work independently.
- Remove the newest addition if stability returns, then report the reproducible behavior to the mod author with logs and version details.
Final recommendation
For most ASA servers, start with Better Breeding only after confirming that its 2025-era file works with your current 2026 patch. Add Breeding Assistant when you want restrained stat visibility, or Awesome SpyGlass! when your community needs complete breeding records. Choose one storage solution only after a save-and-restart test, use S+ for base organization rather than as a breeding requirement, and add creature packs according to the server’s theme. A small, tested stack will usually deliver a better experience than a long list of overlapping mods.
