For most people, XREAL One is the best single pair of AR glasses for portable gaming and movies. It combines a 1080p image at up to 120Hz, 600-nit perceived brightness, a 50-degree field of view, electrochromic dimming, built-in audio and tested connections to a PC, PS5 and smartphone. TechRadar’s 2025 review describes a 147-inch virtual screen and says the glasses remained comfortable for hours after fit adjustments.
Choose VITURE Pro XR instead if prescription support and an accessory ecosystem matter most. Its built-in myopia adjustment reaches -5.0D and it accepts a magnetic prescription-lens frame. RayNeo GT is the lighter, lower-cost alternative on paper, with a 68g frame, 1080p/120Hz output and a claimed 231-inch virtual screen, but Dolby Vision requires the separate $199 Pocket TV Pro and the glasses lack electrochromic dimming.

What AR glasses actually do for gaming and movies
Most products sold as AR glasses in this category are wired wearable displays rather than self-contained wireless computers. The glasses receive video, and usually power, from a compatible phone, laptop, handheld or console adapter. They place a large virtual screen in front of your eyes while you continue to see some of the real world around it.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →That distinction determines whether a setup works. A USB-C port must support video output, commonly through DisplayPort Alt Mode, for a direct connection. An HDMI console needs a compatible HDMI-to-USB-C adapter and, depending on the adapter, separate power injection. The glasses are not wireless receivers for a PlayStation, Xbox or Switch.

Virtual-screen sizes are presentation figures, not measurements of a physical panel. They describe the apparent size of the floating image at a specified viewing distance, so they should not be compared with a television’s diagonal as if the two were identical.
Why XREAL One is the best all-rounder
Gaming performance and compatibility
XREAL One is the easiest recommendation when one pair must cover a handheld, computer, phone and console. TechRadar tested it with a PC, PS5 and smartphone. Its 1080p/120Hz output is suitable for fast games when the source and connection can deliver those modes. The 50-degree field of view gives the virtual screen more presence than narrower wearable displays, while the glasses’ XREAL X1 chip provides 3DoF tracking.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThree-degrees-of-freedom tracking lets the virtual screen remain stable when you turn your head. It does not map furniture or create a fully tracked room; it stabilizes the image’s orientation. That is useful when playing a handheld or watching a film because the screen can stay in place instead of moving with every small head movement.
Brightness, tint and long sessions
The review reports 600 nits of perceived brightness, not a conventional television brightness measurement. In practice, perceived brightness depends on the room, the transparency of the lenses and how well the frame blocks stray light. XREAL One also has electrochromic dimming, allowing you to reduce the amount of outside light reaching your eyes without attaching a separate physical shade.
TechRadar describes a 147-inch virtual screen and says the glasses were comfortable for hours after fit adjustment. Treat that as a review result rather than a guarantee: nose-pad position, temple pressure, prescription lenses and the shape of your face all affect comfort. Spend a few minutes adjusting the frame before judging a long movie session.
Connection requirements
The glasses use wired USB-C connectivity. A phone, laptop or handheld must provide video over its USB-C port; a charging-only port will not work. On an HDMI device such as a PS5, Xbox or a docked Switch, use a compatible HDMI-to-USB-C adapter. Some adapters also need a USB power lead, so allow for a wall charger or battery pack near the console or dock.

When VITURE Pro XR is the better choice
Prescription users
VITURE Pro XR has built-in myopia adjustment up to -5.0D, according to Windows Central’s 2025 review. It also accepts a magnetic prescription-lens frame. That combination can remove the need to wear ordinary glasses inside the display, although an optician must make the prescription insert and the adjustment range does not cover every prescription or eye condition.
Check your current prescription before ordering. Myopia correction is not the same as correction for astigmatism, hyperopia or complex multifocal prescriptions. If your prescription falls outside -5.0D or includes significant cylinder correction, ask the lens provider whether the magnetic frame can be made for you.
Ecosystem value
Windows Central positions VITURE Pro XR as a private, ultra-portable external display with an expanding software and accessory ecosystem. That may matter more than a headline specification if you want a travel setup built around companion hardware. The same review says XREAL One has more onboard spatial-computing features, so VITURE Pro XR should be selected for prescription support and ecosystem value rather than assumed to be the most advanced standalone spatial platform.

Large image and low weight
Tom’s Guide lists RayNeo GT at 68g, with a tandem micro-OLED display, 1080p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and a 46-degree field of view. Its review cites up to 1,200 nits of perceived brightness and a 231-inch virtual screen. Those figures make it attractive for a bright cabin, hotel room or handheld session where a light frame is important.
The 231-inch number is an apparent virtual-screen figure, not a physical display size. Compare it with XREAL One’s 147-inch review figure only as an indication of the claimed field of view and viewing experience; the two reviewers used different test methods and dates.
Tracking modes and missing features
RayNeo GT’s native 3DoF chip offers steady, pinned and follow modes. Steady keeps the image aligned with your view, pinned places it in a fixed position in your virtual surroundings, and follow keeps it associated with your head movement. The practical choice depends on the game: a pinned screen can feel more like a television, while a follow mode can be convenient in a moving vehicle.
RayNeo GT does not have electrochromic dimming and does not include a fitted lens cover. In bright environments you cannot electronically darken the lenses, and you may need a separate cover or case to protect them in a bag. Dolby Vision is not available from the glasses alone; it requires the $199 Pocket TV Pro. Count that device in the real cost if Dolby Vision is part of your buying decision.

Rokid Max: a straightforward wired display
Rokid’s specification sheet lists 1,920 × 1,080 FHD output and directional speakers for Rokid Max. The glasses have no internal battery; a phone or Rokid Station supplies their power. That arrangement keeps the frame from carrying a battery, but it means your source device or companion station must remain connected during the entire session.

Experience richer depth and lifelike visuals across everything you watch or play, supported at up to 30fps with just 90–100ms latency for smooth, natural viewing.
Rokid Max is therefore best evaluated as a simple external screen. The available specification does not establish its field of view, refresh rate, brightness, weight, tracking modes or prescription range, so do not assume those characteristics from the other models’ figures.
Choosing glasses for Steam Deck, ROG Ally and other handhelds
Verify video output first
- Check the handheld’s technical documentation for USB-C video output or DisplayPort Alt Mode.
- Connect the glasses directly with a USB-C cable that carries both video and power.
- Set the handheld to 1080p output if that option is available, then select 120Hz only when the game and system support it.
- Confirm that the handheld is charging or has enough battery for the planned session; the glasses draw power from the connected device unless a companion adapter supplies it.
Steam Deck and ROG Ally buyers should distinguish the presence of USB-C from video capability. A USB-C connector alone does not guarantee display output. If the handheld cannot send video through that port, the glasses cannot create a picture without a dock or adapter that adds a compatible output.
Using a Switch
A Switch used in handheld mode must provide a compatible video path; a docked Switch presents an HDMI-style setup. In the latter case, plan for an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter and any required power lead. The glasses do not replace the Switch dock’s video conversion or provide a wireless link.
Connecting a PS5, Xbox or another HDMI source
- Connect the console’s HDMI output to an adapter explicitly designed to convert HDMI video to USB-C display output for wearable glasses.
- Attach the adapter’s USB power input if its documentation requires power injection.
- Connect the adapter’s USB-C display output to the glasses.
- Set the console to a supported resolution and refresh rate. XREAL One was tested with PS5, but the adapter remains a separate requirement.
- Route sound to the glasses only if the adapter supports audio over the same connection; otherwise use a headset paired with the console or source.
Do not buy an ordinary USB-C charging cable and expect it to convert HDMI. The conversion happens in the adapter, and compatibility varies by adapter design, power requirements and the glasses’ input.
Watching Netflix and downloaded movies while travelling
Prepare the source before leaving
- Download permitted movies or shows to the phone, tablet, laptop or handheld before boarding.
- Install system and app updates while you still have reliable internet access.
- Test the complete chain—source, cable, glasses, adapter and headphones—at home.
- Carry a charged power bank or wall charger that can keep the source running for the flight.
- Pack the glasses in a protective case; this is especially important for RayNeo GT because it does not include a fitted lens cover.
Streaming services may impose their own download, device and offline-playback rules. The glasses do not bypass those rules; they simply display the output of the authorized app on the connected source.
Plan for aircraft noise
Open speakers built into AR glasses can be difficult to hear over engine and cabin noise, and people nearby may hear some leakage. The travel guidance from SmartGlassGear and the practical advice accompanying these models point to the same solution: carry headphones for flights. Use the glasses’ speakers in quiet rooms, but switch to in-ear or over-ear headphones when privacy and intelligibility matter.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Spatial tracking, screen placement and comfort
Understanding 3DoF
3DoF tracks rotational movement—looking left, right, up and down—so a virtual screen can remain steady. It does not provide six-degrees-of-freedom positional tracking, room mapping or hand tracking. XREAL One uses the XREAL X1 chip for 3DoF according to official XREAL documentation. RayNeo GT also has a native 3DoF chip with steady, pinned and follow modes.
Fit adjustments that affect comfort
- Center the image by adjusting the nose pads rather than tightening the temples.
- Make sure the display sits at the same height over both eyes.
- Use the supplied cable routing so the connector does not pull on one side of the frame.
- Take short breaks during long sessions, especially when first adapting to a near-eye display.
- If text appears doubled or one eye is doing more work, stop and readjust before continuing.
A reviewer’s statement that a pair was comfortable for hours is useful evidence, but it cannot account for every face shape, prescription insert or head position. Try the frame with the cable attached and your normal headphones before committing to all-day use.

- YOUR PRIVATE 147” BIG SCREEN, ANYWHERE — Plug the a01+ into your phone, tablet, handheld, or laptop and a giant 147” screen appears in front of you—for movies, gaming, or getting work done on the couch, on a flight, or in bed. A true portable display you wear, in a soda-can-sized 210g case that drops in your pocket.
- ALWAYS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU — The screen follows your view with smooth, stabilized tracking and stays centered as you look around—nothing to anchor or set up, and no drift to reset. Press play and your big screen is simply there.
- 62G — LIGHT ENOUGH TO FORGET — At just 62g, with three nose-pad sizes and flexible temples, the a01+ stays comfortable through a long movie or flight, even lying down.
- LOOKS LIKE SUNGLASSES, NOT A GADGET — A slim, sunglasses-style frame with a signature semi-transparent chassis and neon logo—light and low-profile enough to actually wear out.
- WORKS WITH YOUR USB-C GEAR — No Battery to Charge — Connects and powers over a single USB-C DisplayPort cable: iPhone 15/16/17, iPad, DP-capable Android phones, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Mac and PC. Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and older (Lightning) iPhones need an adapter. For long phone sessions, add the XREAL Hub to charge and watch at once.
Audio and privacy trade-offs
Built-in speakers make AR glasses convenient for a handheld or a quiet hotel room. XREAL One is reported to have strong built-in audio, while RayNeo GT uses quad speakers and Rokid Max lists directional speakers. These designs keep your ears open to your surroundings, but they are not equivalent to sealed headphones.
Open audio can leak dialogue or game sound to nearby passengers and is vulnerable to aircraft noise. For public transport, shared rooms and flights, headphones provide better isolation and clearer speech. Check whether your source can send audio to headphones at the same time as video to the glasses; an HDMI adapter may affect that routing.
Brightness, tinting and real-world viewing conditions
Perceived-brightness figures are not directly interchangeable with television or phone brightness ratings. XREAL One is cited at 600 nits perceived brightness, while RayNeo GT is cited at up to 1,200 nits perceived brightness. The latter’s higher number does not automatically make it better in every room, because RayNeo GT lacks electrochromic dimming and the apparent image also depends on outside light entering around the lenses.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Electrochromic dimming on XREAL One is useful when lighting changes between a dim hotel room and a bright lounge. Without that feature, a physical shade, lens cover or a darker environment may be needed to improve contrast. No equivalent dimming specification is established for VITURE Pro XR or Rokid Max in the available material.
How to compare total setup cost
The glasses are only one line of the budget. Add the hardware required to make your source compatible and the accessories needed for your preferred experience.
| Potential cost item | When you need it | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Glasses | Always | Prices are not stated in the cited material. |
| USB-C video cable | Direct connection to a phone, laptop or handheld | Required when the source supports video over USB-C; exact cable price is not stated. |
| HDMI-to-USB-C adapter | PS5, Xbox, docked Switch or another HDMI source | Required for HDMI sources; a suitable adapter and possible power injection are needed. |
| Beam Pro | Optional with XREAL One | XREAL One works without it; TechRadar says it makes the spatial/media workflow feel more complete. Price is not stated. |
| Pocket TV Pro | Dolby Vision with RayNeo GT | $199; Dolby Vision is gated behind this accessory. |
| Prescription insert | When ordinary glasses cannot be worn comfortably inside the frame | VITURE Pro XR supports a magnetic prescription-lens frame; lens-making cost is not stated. |
| Headphones | Aircraft, noisy rooms or privacy-sensitive use | Recommended for noise and audio leakage; price is not stated. |
Compare complete kits, not just the headline glasses price. A model that needs a console adapter, prescription insert or companion device can cost more than its frame specification suggests.
Common problems and fixes
No image over USB-C
- Confirm that the source port supports DisplayPort video output, not charging only.
- Try the source’s display settings and select an external monitor.
- Test another video-capable cable.
- Connect the glasses directly before adding hubs or docks.
Black screen from a console
- Check that the HDMI-to-USB-C adapter is intended for wearable displays.
- Connect the adapter’s required USB power lead.
- Reduce the console output to a supported resolution or refresh rate.
- Test the adapter with another HDMI source to isolate the failing component.
Image is dim or washed out
- Move to a darker position or block light entering around the lenses.
- Use XREAL One’s electrochromic dimming when available.
- Remember that RayNeo GT has no electrochromic dimming, so its environment has a larger effect on contrast.
Sound is too quiet on a plane
Switch from the glasses’ open speakers to headphones. Aircraft noise can overwhelm directional or open audio even when it sounds strong in a quiet room.
Motion or eye strain
- Recenter the virtual screen and adjust the nose pads.
- Use a steady or pinned mode instead of a screen that follows every head movement.
- Lower the game’s camera sensitivity and take a break if discomfort persists.
Which pair should you buy?
- Choose XREAL One for the most balanced combination of 1080p/120Hz output, 50-degree field of view, perceived brightness, dimming, 3DoF tracking and broad tested source compatibility.
- Choose VITURE Pro XR when myopia adjustment to -5.0D, a magnetic prescription frame and an accessory ecosystem outweigh the need for the most advanced onboard spatial features.
- Choose RayNeo GT when 68g weight, a large claimed virtual screen and 1,200-nit perceived brightness appeal to you, and you accept no electrochromic dimming, no fitted lens cover and a separate $199 Pocket TV Pro for Dolby Vision.
- Choose Rokid Max when you want a simple 1,920 × 1,080 wired display with directional speakers and are comfortable powering it from a phone or Rokid Station.
Before ordering, confirm the source connection, budget for any HDMI conversion or companion hardware, and decide whether prescription lenses and headphones are essential. Those practical details determine whether the glasses become a useful travel screen or an expensive accessory that stays in its case.
