The reported pre-sale US reductions are $10 for either listed size against the roundup’s stated retail prices. Whether that is worthwhile depends on the actual event price and how much you value the newer model’s features over a discounted previous generation.

The reported pre-sale prices are $799 in the US and £749 in the UK. Because Macworld’s US text and table disagree about whether the US price is discounted, do not treat $799 as a verified saving. The October 2 roundup reported US prices of $240 for 40mm and $270 for 44mm, and UK prices of £219 and £249 respectively. The 44mm US figure is inconsistent within that roundup, so confirm the live listing and exact case size rather than assuming the reported price is current.

An older model can make sense if it is materially cheaper than the comparable new generation and has the features you need. Compare like with like: case size, GPS versus cellular, and the specific generation. The reported prices alone do not establish how the models compare in every configuration.
