Looking for the best Apple TV shows to watch in 2026? The service many viewers still know as Apple TV+ has a wide-ranging lineup, from tense science-fiction mysteries to warm comedies and horror-comedy. These eight recommendations are a considered watchlist, not a definitive ranking: critic aggregators and entertainment editors use different criteria, and the right choice depends on what you want to watch.
Quick picks: what should you watch on Apple TV?
| Show | Best for | Tone and setup |
|---|---|---|
| Severance | High-concept sci-fi mystery | Unsettling and cerebral: office workers confront the boundary between their professional and personal lives as they get closer to the truth. |
| Silo | Dystopian sci-fi | Tense and atmospheric: an underground community lives with an unfolding mystery. The series adapts Hugh Howey’s Wool. |
| Slow Horses | Espionage with an edge | Sardonic spy drama with a workplace-comedy streak; Apple lists it among its Emmy-winning series. |
| Ted Lasso | A lighter comedy | An established comedy and returning series. Apple included season four in its February 2026 slate announcement; check the current catalog for its availability. |
| Shrinking | Character-focused comedy-drama | A comedy-drama that Apple identifies as a global hit. |
| Widow’s Bay | Horror-comedy | A New England island mayor encounters strange phenomena while trying to attract tourists; the tone mixes slapstick comedy and horror. |
| Dark Matter | Sci-fi thriller | A high-concept science-fiction thriller. Rotten Tomatoes listed season two at 95% on its Tomatometer on September 2, 2026—a dated critics’ score, not an audience rating. |
| The Studio | Industry satire | A comedy about the entertainment business, and one of the Emmy-winning series Apple highlights. |
Choose by genre and mood
For a mystery that keeps you thinking
Severance is the pick for a strange, tightly wound workplace conspiracy. Its central blur between work and personal life gives the sci-fi mystery a distinctive hook. TV Guide discusses the employees’ approach to the truth, and Rotten Tomatoes includes the show in its Apple Originals guide: TV Guide’s Apple TV show guide and Rotten Tomatoes’ Apple TV guide.

Choose Silo if you prefer a dystopian setting and a community-scale mystery. TV Guide notes its source novel, Wool, while TVLine describes season three as returning Juliette to Silo 18 and adding a historical parallel timeline. Those details make it a good fit for viewers who enjoy mysteries that widen beyond one character’s immediate surroundings: TV Guide and TVLine’s Apple TV recommendations.
For spies, satire, and sharp comedy
Slow Horses pairs espionage with a sardonic workplace-comedy edge. Apple names it among its Emmy-winning shows, and GamesRadar’s platform coverage also calls it a standout: Apple’s Apple Originals page and GamesRadar’s entertainment coverage.

For a lighter change of pace, Ted Lasso is the familiar comedy choice; Apple’s February announcement listed season four in its 2026 slate. Shrinking is another option if character-focused comedy-drama sounds more appealing. Apple calls it a global hit. The Studio is the pick for entertainment-industry satire and is also among the Emmy-winning shows Apple highlights.
For horror with a comic streak
Widow’s Bay is the 2026-specific choice here for viewers who want spooky oddities without a purely straight-faced horror tone. TVLine describes an island mayor trying to draw tourists while strange events unfold, with slapstick and horror sharing the stage: TVLine’s Apple TV recommendations.

For a high-concept thriller
Dark Matter suits viewers after a science-fiction thriller. Rotten Tomatoes’ page published September 2, 2026, gave season two a 95% Tomatometer score and noted that episodes were dropping weekly through October. Treat that as a snapshot of critics’ reviews at that time, not a permanent rating: Rotten Tomatoes’ Dark Matter season-two page.
What is new or returning in Apple TV’s 2026 slate?
Apple’s February 3, 2026 announcement is a dated slate preview, not proof that every announced title is currently available. It listed Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two for February 27, Margo’s Got Money Troubles for April 15, and Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed for May 20, with two initial episodes followed by weekly releases through July 15. It also planned Ted Lasso season four for summer 2026. Confirm a show’s current release status in Apple’s catalog before starting it: Apple’s February 3, 2026 slate announcement.

- 4K High Dynamic Range (Dolby Vision and HDR10) for stunning picture quality
- Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 surround sound
- A10X Fusion chip for ultra-fast graphics and performance
- Voice search by asking the Siri Remote
For a current-year family comedy-drama, Apple describes Margo’s Got Money Troubles as following a recent college dropout and aspiring writer facing a new baby and financial pressure. Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed is another announced 2026 series, but the slate announcement alone does not provide enough detail to make a fuller recommendation here.
