1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf Apple TV+’s originals-only approach leaves you wanting more choice, start with the service that fits what you watch: Netflix for a broad general mix, Disney+ for major franchises, Hulu for a wider US TV selection, or Max for HBO-led series and movies. For free viewing, try ad-supported Tubi or Pluto TV. None is a direct, interchangeable replacement: catalogs, ads, and what a subscription includes vary by service and plan.
Which Apple TV+ alternative fits what you watch?
Apple positions Apple TV+ around exclusive originals, weekly releases, and an ad-free experience. Alternatives tend to distinguish themselves through broader licensed libraries, specific studio franchises, TV programming, or free ad-supported viewing. Choose by the shows, films, and genres your household actually wants—not by assuming a title on one service will also be on another.

| Service | Best fit | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Netflix | A broad, general-purpose mix of viewing. | Current tiers, prices, and whether the shows or films you want are available. |
| Disney+ | Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic programming. | Current plan and bundle terms; a US Disney+/Hulu bundle may suit households seeking both franchise viewing and broader general entertainment. |
| Max | HBO-led prestige TV and movies. | Current plan details and local availability of specific titles. |
| Hulu | A broader US TV mix, including current-season and library programming. | Whether you want on-demand Hulu or Hulu + Live TV; they are materially different products. |
| Prime Video | A potentially broad selection in a video storefront. | Whether each title is included, or instead requires a rental, purchase, or paid add-on channel. |
| Peacock | NBC- and Bravo-associated TV, movies, originals, and sports on eligible tiers. | Select excludes movies, sports, and Peacock Originals; movie seekers should look at Premium or Premium Plus. |
| Paramount+ | A studio and television-library alternative. | Current tier inclusions, prices, and whether the titles you want are available. |
| Tubi or Pluto TV | Free, ad-supported viewing. | Catalogs change, and these services are not equivalent to a premium originals library. |
These are broad-fit recommendations rather than guarantees about particular titles. Streaming rights change, so check a film or series immediately before subscribing.

Peacock plans: check the tier before choosing it for movies
Peacock’s currently displayed US prices illustrate why an entry-level plan may not meet a movie viewer’s needs. The figures below were observed on October 4, 2026; confirm them on Peacock’s plan page before subscribing.
| Plan | Displayed US price | Relevant inclusion or restriction |
|---|---|---|
| Select | $8.99/month or $89.99/year | Excludes movies, sports, and Peacock Originals. |
| Premium | $12.99/month or $129.99/year | Peacock plan with movies, sports, and originals; check the current terms for the specific features you need. |
| Premium Plus | $19.99/month or $199.99/year | Includes downloads and no ads, subject to stated limited exceptions. |
How to compare services without paying for the wrong one
- List the household’s priorities. Note the specific shows, film genres, studios, or franchises you care about. A service’s general reputation cannot guarantee a particular title is currently in its catalog.
- Check that the plan includes the kind of viewing you want. If movies are a priority, avoid assuming a service’s lowest tier includes them; Peacock Select, for example, excludes movies.
- Confirm whether a title costs extra. In Prime Video, subscription titles can appear alongside rentals, purchases, and paid channel add-ons. Check the title’s listing rather than assuming it comes with a subscription.
- Compare restrictions as well as the headline price. Check ads, downloads, live programming, and other plan limits against current terms. Apple promotes Apple TV+ as ad-free; Peacock’s ad and download terms differ by tier.
- Compare the cost you will actually pay. Look at the monthly or annual plan—or bundle—that fits your household, not just the cheapest advertised entry tier. Disney’s US help page says displayed prices for new subscriptions changed effective August 20, 2026, and some existing subscribers may see the change on or after October 21, 2026. Check Disney+ pricing information and the checkout amount before enrolling.
- Verify availability just before subscribing. Licensing catalogs and sports rights change over time, and a title’s availability may vary by location.
Are free streaming services a good replacement?
Tubi and Pluto TV are options for viewers willing to watch ads and work with changing catalogs. They can provide free viewing, but they are not like-for-like substitutes for Apple TV+’s exclusive originals. If a particular movie or series is the reason you are considering a service, confirm that it is available there before relying on it.
