For a close wireless alternative, choose the NETGEAR Nighthawk RS300. It is another tri-band Wi‑Fi 7 router with 6 GHz and a 2.5 Gbps internet port, but it does not offer the Archer BE670’s 10 Gbps WAN/LAN option. If your priority is connecting several high-speed wired devices, the ASUS RT-BE88U is stronger because it combines 10 Gbps Ethernet, 10 Gbps SFP+ and four 2.5 Gbps ports; the trade-off is dual-band Wi‑Fi with no 6 GHz. The eero 7 is mainly an ecosystem choice for existing eero households, not a speed-equivalent replacement.

These recommendations are based on manufacturer specifications, not independent testing. Real throughput depends on your internet service, client hardware, distance, walls, interference and how the ports are assigned.

What the Archer BE670 establishes as the baseline

TP-Link markets the Archer BE670 as a BE12000 tri-band Wi‑Fi 7 router. Its advertised maximum rates are 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, 5,765 Mbps on 5 GHz and 5,765 Mbps on 6 GHz, which add up to a quoted 12 Gbps class. Those are band-rate totals, not the speed one phone, laptop or internet subscription will normally receive.

BE670 specification What it means when comparing alternatives
Tri-band Wi‑Fi 7 There are separate 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz radios. A comparable alternative must also include 6 GHz if you need the same band choice.
Advertised rates: 688 + 5,765 + 5,765 Mbps The combined headline is a ceiling assembled from three bands, not a single-client throughput guarantee.
One 10 Gbps WAN/LAN port The fastest port can serve the internet connection or a wired LAN device, depending on configuration.
One 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port A second multi-gig connection is available, but it is slower than the 10 Gbps port.
Three 1 Gbps LAN ports Additional wired devices are limited to gigabit link rates.
USB 3.0 Provides a USB connection for supported router functions; the cited specifications do not establish a particular storage or sharing performance level.
MLO, 320 MHz on 6 GHz and 4K-QAM These Wi‑Fi 7 features require compatible clients. TP-Link notes that 320 MHz operation is on 6 GHz and can be restricted by regional regulation.
EasyMesh The router can participate in TP-Link’s EasyMesh system, subject to compatible hardware and regional versions.

TP-Link describes Multi-Link Operation (MLO) as allowing the BE670 to transmit data with Wi‑Fi 7 clients across multiple bands simultaneously to improve throughput, latency and reliability. That is the manufacturer’s description, not a measured result. The company also warns that internet-provider service, network conditions, client capability, building materials, obstacles, traffic and client location affect actual performance. The current US support listing identifies hardware version V1.60 and says availability varies by region, so verify the local revision before buying; the regional support page is the appropriate check.

NETGEAR Nighthawk RS300: the closest wireless match

The RS300 is the most direct alternative when your requirement is “Wi‑Fi 7 with 6 GHz.” Like the BE670, it is tri-band rather than dual-band, so compatible devices can use the additional 6 GHz spectrum instead of sharing only 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Key specifications

  • Tri-band Wi‑Fi 7 with an advertised combined wireless rate of up to 9.3 Gbps.
  • One 2.5 Gbps internet port.
  • Two 2.5 Gbps LAN ports.
  • Two 1 Gbps LAN ports.
  • NETGEAR lists coverage of up to 2,500 square feet and up to 100 connected devices. Those are vendor claims and are not independent measurements.
  • The US product page showed $299.99 when accessed on October 13, 2026. Retail pricing can change, so treat that figure as a dated listing rather than a guaranteed price.

Where it improves on the BE670

The RS300 gives you two 2.5 Gbps LAN ports in addition to its 2.5 Gbps internet port. That can be useful when a multi-gig broadband service and two wired clients must be connected without immediately adding a switch. Its tri-band design also preserves the 6 GHz option that is absent from the ASUS RT-BE88U and eero 7.

Where it falls short

There is no 10 Gbps WAN/LAN port. If your broadband service, NAS or workstation uses 10 Gbps Ethernet, the RS300 cannot provide the same link option as the BE670. Its 9.3 Gbps wireless headline is also lower than the BE670’s 12 Gbps class, although neither number predicts a single client’s real throughput. See the RS300 specification page for the current port and product claims.

ASUS RT-BE88U: best when wired capacity comes first

The RT-BE88U takes a different approach. ASUS announced it on March 27, 2024 as a dual-band Wi‑Fi 7 router with an advertised wireless rate of up to 7,200 Mbps. It has no 6 GHz radio, so it should not be selected by anyone who specifically needs 6 GHz clients or wants a tri-band replacement.

Its wired layout

  • One 10 Gbps Ethernet port that can operate as WAN or LAN.
  • One 10 Gbps SFP+ port that can also operate as WAN or LAN.
  • Four 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports.
  • ASUS describes up to 34 Gbps of combined wired capacity.
  • Wi‑Fi 7 Multi-Link Operation is described for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

The dual 10 Gbps options are the model’s defining advantage. You could use one as the WAN connection and retain the other for a high-speed local device, or use both in a LAN-oriented design if your service and network equipment support that arrangement. Port roles still depend on the router’s configuration, so count the ports that remain available after assigning WAN.

Who should choose it

Choose the RT-BE88U when several wired devices matter more than 6 GHz. A desktop workstation, storage server, multi-gig switch and access point can consume ports quickly; four 2.5 Gbps sockets plus two 10 Gbps interfaces provide substantially more headroom than the BE670’s one 10 Gbps, one 2.5 Gbps and three 1 Gbps ports.

Who should avoid it

If your buying requirement is a tri-band Wi‑Fi 7 router, this is the wrong category. Its 7,200 Mbps wireless claim cannot be compared directly with the BE670’s 12 Gbps class because the radio configurations differ, and the missing 6 GHz band is a functional difference rather than a minor specification change. Details are in the ASUS announcement.

eero 7: an ecosystem and mesh choice

The eero 7 is best considered when you already use eero equipment or want app-based management across a compatible mesh. It can function as a primary router or an extender, but its advertised capacity is far below the BE670’s.

Specifications and limits

  • Dual-band Wi‑Fi 7.
  • Up to 1.8 Gbps wireless, according to eero.
  • Two auto-sensing 2.5GbE ports.
  • Up to 2.3 Gbps wired.
  • Coverage of up to 2,000 square feet per unit, according to eero.
  • Setup and network management require the eero app.

Because it is dual-band, the eero 7 has no 6 GHz radio. Its two 2.5GbE ports can be useful for a multi-gig modem and one wired device, but they do not provide the 10 Gbps option found on the BE670 or RT-BE88U. Its wireless headline is about ecosystem continuity and simple expansion, not matching the capacity of a BE12000-class router.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When it makes sense

An eero 7 can be sensible if your existing nodes, settings and household support already revolve around eero, or if you need an extender that stays within that system. It is not a like-for-like performance replacement for the BE670. Review the eero 7 support specifications before mixing units or planning a new installation.

How to choose among the three alternatives

1. Decide whether 6 GHz is essential

Choose a tri-band model—the BE670 or RS300—if you need 6 GHz. The RT-BE88U and eero 7 are dual-band. A router cannot create 6 GHz capability in a client that lacks a compatible radio, and Wi‑Fi 7 features such as MLO depend on support in the client device as well as the router.

2. Match the router to your internet speed

Identify the speed of the broadband service and the port it will occupy. The BE670 and RT-BE88U offer a 10 Gbps-capable WAN/LAN option; the RS300’s internet port is 2.5 Gbps; the eero 7 has 2.5GbE ports. A router’s wireless rating does not increase a subscription that is slower than the WAN link.

3. Count wired devices after assigning WAN

List every device that needs more than 1 Gbps: workstations, storage, switches, access points and other high-throughput equipment. Then subtract the port used for WAN. The BE670 leaves one 2.5 Gbps and three 1 Gbps ports alongside its 10 Gbps socket. The RS300 leaves two 2.5 Gbps and two 1 Gbps LAN ports. The RT-BE88U has four 2.5 Gbps ports plus two 10 Gbps interfaces, while the eero 7 has two 2.5GbE ports total.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. Check mesh compatibility before adding nodes

The BE670 supports TP-Link EasyMesh. The eero 7 is designed to operate within the eero ecosystem. Compatibility is not implied across brands, and hardware revisions can vary by region. Confirm that the additional node and the router use the same system before purchasing a second unit.

  • DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
  • AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
  • CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
  • EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
  • OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.

5. Audit your client devices

Make a list of phones, laptops, televisions and adapters that will use Wi‑Fi 7, MLO, 6 GHz or 320 MHz channels. If the clients do not support those features, the router will fall back to capabilities they do support. TP-Link states that 320 MHz channels are available only on 6 GHz and may be limited by local regulation.

Planning a multi-gig installation

  1. Record the service and hardware versions. Write down your subscribed internet rate, modem or optical-terminal port speed, and the router’s regional hardware revision. For the BE670, check the US support listing for V1.60 or the equivalent local version.
  2. Draw the wired path. Mark which device uses WAN and which devices need 10 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps or only 1 Gbps. This prevents buying a router with impressive aggregate numbers but too few usable LAN ports.
  3. Reserve the fastest ports for the bottlenecks. A 10 Gbps service or local server should use a 10 Gbps interface where available. Do not assign the only high-speed port to a device that could operate comfortably on gigabit.
  4. Place the wireless router deliberately. Walls, building materials, obstacles, traffic and client location all affect results. A vendor coverage figure is not a guarantee for a particular floor plan.
  5. Enable advanced Wi‑Fi features only for compatible clients. MLO and 320 MHz operation require appropriate client support, and regional rules can limit 6 GHz channel width.
  6. Verify negotiated links. After connecting each device, check the router or operating system for the negotiated Ethernet rate and confirm that the WAN link is not the limiting factor.
  7. Test by location and workload. Compare a nearby Wi‑Fi 7 client, a distant client and each wired device separately. Keep the results tied to your home, equipment and service rather than treating a vendor’s aggregate rating as a measured speed.

Understanding the numbers without overinterpreting them

“BE12000,” “9.3 Gbps” and “7,200 Mbps” are product-class or combined radio figures. They sum the maximum rates of multiple bands or represent a vendor’s aggregate estimate. One client normally connects to one radio path at a time unless both the client and router use a supported multi-link mode, and the internet connection may be slower still.

Coverage statements are similarly conditional. NETGEAR’s 2,500-square-foot and 100-device figures, and eero’s 2,000-square-foot-per-unit figure, come from their respective product pages. They are not independent measurements and should not be used to promise service in a particular building.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no independent head-to-head reliability, latency or throughput result established for these models here. The comparison therefore identifies specification-based fits and trade-offs, not a tested ranking. Placement, congestion, client radios, walls and port negotiation can change the outcome in a real home.

Buying checklist

  • Need 6 GHz? Select the BE670 or RS300; the RT-BE88U and eero 7 do not include it.
  • Need a 10 Gbps wired link? The BE670 and RT-BE88U provide one; the RS300 and eero 7 are limited to 2.5GbE ports in the cited specifications.
  • Need several multi-gig LAN connections? The RT-BE88U has four 2.5 Gbps ports plus 10 Gbps Ethernet and SFP+; the RS300 has two 2.5 Gbps LAN ports; the BE670 has one 2.5 Gbps port alongside its 10 Gbps port.
  • Already invested in a mesh platform? Stay within the matching EasyMesh or eero ecosystem and confirm regional compatibility.
  • Have Wi‑Fi 7 clients? Check that they support the specific MLO, 6 GHz and channel-width features you intend to use.
  • Comparing prices? Treat the RS300’s $299.99 US listing from October 13, 2026 as time-sensitive and recheck the current price before purchase.
  • Checking availability? Verify the local hardware revision and specification page; TP-Link notes that model and version availability varies by region.

Final recommendation

Buy the NETGEAR Nighthawk RS300 when you want the nearest BE670-style experience: tri-band Wi‑Fi 7 with 6 GHz and multiple 2.5 Gbps connections, while accepting the absence of 10 Gbps Ethernet. Choose the ASUS RT-BE88U when wired multi-gig connectivity is the deciding factor and dual-band operation is acceptable. Choose the eero 7 only when eero mesh continuity and app-based management outweigh the much lower advertised wireless capacity. Keep the Archer BE670 itself in contention if you need both tri-band Wi‑Fi 7 and a 10 Gbps WAN/LAN port in one device.
