Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If you want a lighter phone with a headphone jack and microSD slot, the Sony Xperia 10 VIII is difficult to replace on these specifications alone. For a compact Android alternative, shortlist the Google Pixel 10a; for a larger, thinner mainstream phone, consider the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G. The right fit depends on which features matter most—not a proven performance winner, since the available comparisons are manufacturer specifications and launch information rather than hands-on tests.

Which phone is physically smaller?
The Xperia 10 VIII is the lightest and narrowest of the three phones in the published figures: 168 g and 72 mm wide. The Pixel 10a is close in width at 73.0 mm, but weighs 183 g and has a 6.3-inch display. The Galaxy A57 is 179 g and notably taller and wider at 161.5 × 76.8 mm, though its listed thickness is 6.9 mm.

Those measurements help set expectations, but they do not establish how comfortable a phone will feel in every hand. The Pixel is a plausible alternative if you want a relatively compact Android phone and can accept a little more width and weight than Sony’s model.

Choose by the features you care about
Choose the Google Pixel 10a for a compact alternative
The Pixel 10a has a 6.3-inch pOLED display, a 5,100 mAh battery, 128 GB or 256 GB storage options, and listed wireless charging. Its body is only slightly wider than the Sony’s, but it is 15 g heavier and has a larger screen. Google’s cited specifications do not establish that it has a better camera or longer real-world battery life than the Xperia.
Choose the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G for a larger, thin phone
The Galaxy A57 is the largest option by height and width in this comparison, while its listed 6.9 mm thickness makes it the thinnest. It is a candidate if you prefer a larger mainstream phone and are shopping in the US: Samsung announced an unlocked starting price of $549.99 and US sales from 9 April 2026. Check current local price and availability; that launch price is US-specific.

Stay with the Xperia 10 VIII for Sony’s hardware combination
Sony lists a 3.5 mm headphone jack and microSD support, alongside a 168 g body. If you use wired headphones or removable storage, confirm that any alternative supports the exact features you need; the cited Pixel and Samsung material does not establish that they do. Sony also lists IPX5/IPX8 water resistance, IP6X dust protection, up to four OS upgrades, and up to six years of security updates. Check the local model and support terms before comparing expected ownership periods.
Price, display and battery: what the figures do—and don’t—tell you
Prices are tied to different markets
Sony announced launch prices of £549 in the UK and €599 for the euro market. Samsung’s $549.99 figure is an announced unlocked US starting price. These are not like-for-like prices from a single market or a guarantee of what a retailer charges now. Compare current offers and stock in your region rather than converting the launch figures and treating them as equivalent.

Refresh rate and display quality
Sony lists a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Google lists the Pixel 10a’s 6.3-inch pOLED panel at 60–120 Hz. Sony also says its Xperia 10 VIII display is approximately 50% brighter than its predecessor; that is Sony’s comparison claim, not an independent measurement. The cited material does not establish comparative outdoor readability or overall display quality between these phones.
Battery capacity is not a runtime comparison
Sony lists a 5,000 mAh battery and claims “up to two days” of battery life under its stated usage conditions. Google lists 5,100 mAh for the Pixel 10a and wireless charging. Capacity figures alone cannot show which phone will last longer in everyday use, and the cited information does not provide a comparable battery test.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Xperia 10 VIII worth its price?
It may be a good fit if you value its lighter listed weight, headphone jack, microSD support, or Sony’s particular design enough to justify the local price. Sony’s announced UK and euro-market launch prices are £549 and €599, respectively, but they are not current retailer quotes. If those Sony-specific features are not priorities, compare the Pixel 10a or Galaxy A57 against live local prices and the storage, charging, and size you actually need. The available figures do not support a universal value winner.
