If you want a large-screen foldable for multitasking, the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the clearest current non-Samsung alternative in the available specifications: Google lists an 8-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch cover display. But screen size alone cannot establish which phone handles your apps or workflow better. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has the most clearly documented multitasking toolkit here, including three-way split view, adjustable windows, pop-up views, a taskbar and saved app pairs. Choose by the layout and software features you need—not by diagonal size alone.
Which foldable alternatives are worth considering?
This shortlist focuses on current book-style foldables with official specifications or workflow details relevant to large-screen use. It is not a hands-on ranking: the cited sources do not provide independent, side-by-side testing of multitasking performance or app behavior.

| Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 | 8.0 inches | 6.5 inches | Samsung’s US comparison page lists these sizes and a typical 4,400 mAh battery. It also claims up to 24 hours of video playback; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independent test. Samsung’s US Fold7 comparison |
Is the Pixel 11 Pro Fold the best non-Samsung choice?
It is the clearest named non-Samsung option in this comparison, and its 8-inch inner display matches the diagonal size Samsung lists for the Z Fold8 Ultra and Fold7. Google specifies the Pixel’s inner-panel resolution and refresh range as well, which helps describe the hardware precisely. Those specifications do not show whether a particular app supports a useful split-screen arrangement, how it resizes, or how convenient the overall workflow feels.

What does Samsung’s multitasking workflow offer?
Samsung’s Fold8 Ultra productivity guide describes several ways to organize work on the main display:
- Two-way and three-way Multi Window: run supported apps beside one another in split view.
- Adjustable window sizes: change how much screen space each open app receives.
- Pop-up views: open an app in a floating window rather than only in a fixed split.
- Taskbar and saved app pairs: access apps and launch combinations of apps, according to Samsung’s guide.
- Samsung DeX: Samsung describes a desktop-like workspace when the phone is connected to a monitor, keyboard and mouse.
These are Samsung’s descriptions of its own product, not independent findings or a directly comparable Pixel feature inventory. Samsung also notes that Multi Window works with supported apps, so an app’s compatibility matters. Its guide states: “Multi Window lets you run supported apps side by side on the main screen.” Samsung’s Fold8 Ultra productivity guide

How should you compare screens for multitasking?
Diagonal measurements are a useful first filter, but equal diagonals do not guarantee equal usable layouts. Aspect ratio, resolution, window controls and app support all affect what fits on screen and how comfortable it is to use. The cited sources do not provide a complete, verified aspect-ratio comparison across these phones, so screen size should not be treated as a proxy for app layout quality.
Also consider the cover display. A foldable spends part of its day closed, when you use it like a conventional phone. The listed cover diagonals vary: the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Fold8 Ultra are specified at 6.5 inches, while the Fold8 is listed at 5.5 inches. The figures alone do not establish which feels better for typing; proportions and personal comfort matter too.

Which model fits your priorities?
- For a non-Samsung shortlist option with an 8-inch inner screen: consider the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, while verifying app behavior rather than assuming its display size guarantees a particular workflow.
- For the most explicitly documented multitasking controls in these sources: the Fold8 Ultra is the best-documented choice, with Samsung describing three-way view, resizing, pop-ups, app pairs, a taskbar and DeX.
- For a smaller listed inner display within Samsung’s current range: the Fold8’s 7.6-inch main display is smaller on the diagonal than the Ultra’s 8-inch panel; the cited source does not provide an equivalent detailed workflow inventory for the standard Fold8.
- For a previous-generation Samsung reference: the Fold7 is listed with an 8-inch main screen and 6.5-inch cover screen. Its video-playback figure is a Samsung claim, not independent evidence of battery life in everyday use.
